What is wrong with Yulia Samoilova? Samoilova’s story may cause mass refusal of vaccinations. What kind of injury does Yulia Samoilova have?

Fast news today

Our expert believes that the girl who will go to Eurovision from Russia is a real fighter

Yulia is a great guy for not giving up

Yulia Samoilova, who will go to Eurovision from our country, said in an interview that her condition - almost complete paralysis of all limbs, because of which the girl can only move in a wheelchair - began to progress in childhood after being vaccinated against polio. We don’t know the exact diagnosis, but we described Yulia’s story to our expert, candidate of medical sciences, neurologist Viktor Koss.

“As far as I understand, we may be talking about vaccine-associated polio,” our expert suggests. “This is an extremely rare complication from polio vaccinations, which leads to muscle atrophy and muscle paralysis. The most dangerous moment is the blockage of the intercostal muscles, which can cause suffocation. This is a very rare, but possible reaction to the polio vaccine, according to some doctors, it may be associated with a genetic predisposition and the special structure of the nervous tissue. Poliomyelitis paralysis develops much more often in unvaccinated people, leading to disability. But, unfortunately, a reaction to a vaccine similar to that of Yulia also happens. Polymyelitis, its paralytic form, is essentially an inflammation of the gray matter of the spinal cord when the virus penetrates the motor neurons.

The consequences of this disease can be very different, ranging from partial muscle atrophy, as a result of which the patient may experience shortening of one of the legs. The most serious is considered complete paralysis, which in the Middle Ages often led to death.

Such patients are shown various passive movements to improve blood circulation in the muscles, physiotherapy, physical therapy, massages, and constant rehabilitation. All such procedures should be aimed at preventing atelectasis - collapse of the lung lobe, otherwise respiratory failure and asphyxia may develop. And, of course, Yulia is a great fellow for not giving up.

Yulia Samoilova will represent Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Channel One has completed the internal competitive selection of performers and compositions for participation in the Eurovision 2017 music competition and has decided on the choice. Russia in Kyiv will be represented by Yulia Samoilova, whose performance of the love song Flame Is Burning made the most powerful impression.

Future Eurovision participant Yulia Samoilova claims that she is a victim of the polio vaccine. It was after this that she became disabled. Although many sources have already written that she was officially diagnosed with spinal amyotrophy.

I read numerous interviews with Yulia with the vaccine version of the disease, articles by journalists who were delighted that it was possible to stir up a scandal about killer doctors, and even took part in a holivar on Facebook.
On Facebook I was asked the question “could a vaccine have caused a genetically determined disease?” That is, the person meant: that she had a predisposition, but she might not have gotten sick if not for the vaccine.
I answer: no, she would still get sick.

Ever since I worked at the AIDS center, I have loved the motto “You don’t need to be afraid, you need to know!”
I wouldn’t want another wave of anti-vaccination hysteria to arise in connection with Yulia’s publicity, especially since polio vaccination is an important matter.
Hence this post to clear up some points.

Spinal amyotrophy is a disease that is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner.
Let's remember the biology course at school.
With an autosomal recessive type of inheritance, BOTH parents must be carriers of the defective gene in order for an affected child to be born.

This type of inheritance is illustrated very well in the diagram:

Purple - these are carriers of a defective gene, they do not get sick.
Blue is a child without mutation.
Red - sick child (both genes with mutation).
As we can see from the diagram: the parents (both carriers of the defective gene) do not manifest the disease, since the second healthy gene compensates.
According to Mendel's laws, these parents, with combinations of genes, have the probability of being born:
Mutation carriers - 50%
Sick child - 25%
Child with no mutation - 25%

That is, people with spinal amyotrophy were ALREADY born sick, and the disease can manifest itself at any time.

Now specifically about spinal amyotrophy:
The disease is hereditary. Associated with a genetic mutation on human chromosome 5. The gene responsible for the production of the SMN protein undergoes mutation. The synthesis of this protein ensures the normal development of motor neurons. If a mutation develops, the motor neurons are destroyed or become underdeveloped.

Depending on the moment of manifestation and severity of the disease (also dependent on genetics), 4 types of amyotrophy are distinguished.

With type 1 (the most severe), manifestations of the disease will be noticeable for up to 6 months.
For type 2 - from 6-18 months
With type 3 - from 18 months to 20 years.
Type 4 - after 35 years.

That is, it is already genetically programmed at what period of life the disease will manifest itself and in what form it will occur.
Often the manifestation of the disease simply coincides with vaccination.

Any stress factors can accelerate the onset only slightly.
Is vaccination stressful for the body? Undoubtedly. However, the same stress can be ANY illness, including the common flu, or nervous stress.

Imagine that a car is driving along the highway, the wheel has worn out and is about to fly off, the car is moving rather by inertia. And then there is a pebble on the way. The wheel flew off. But is the pebble the reason for this?
After all, after 200 meters there would have been a hole and it would have flown off anyway. And after 500 and generally on its own, because there are objective reasons why this should happen.

And the anti-vaccination hysteria has already begun

Yulia Olegovna Samoilova. Born on April 7, 1989 in Ukhta (Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic). Russian singer, representative of Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018.

From an early age she was confined to a wheelchair: the reason for this was an unsuccessful vaccination against polio in childhood. However, limited opportunities did not at all affect Yulia’s artistic talent.

The girl has the first group of disability due to a hereditary disease. At the age of 13, she was diagnosed with Werding-Hoffmann spinal amyotrophy. “I was born as an absolutely healthy child, developed like all normal children. Then they gave me a vaccination - I stopped standing on my legs. They treated me, treated me, and I just began to melt before our eyes (it got worse, but of course the doctors said it was because of the disease) Then my mother wrote a refusal from all injections and treatment, and the deterioration stopped,” said Yulia.

Since childhood, she sang well and began by performing at school matinees. According to her stories, serious performances began at the age of 11 - at school discos, then at the local palace of culture, then she participated in various competitions at both local and international levels.

Her parents played a big role in Julia's life. The girl emphasized that she owes her success to her mom and dad, who raised her like an ordinary child. Her parents did not overprotect her; they sent her to a regular school and were strict. “My childhood was normal, like all normal children. I went to a regular school and I think it’s wrong when they create specialized classes. This is wrong, it very much emphasizes the fact that you are not like everyone else! It seems to me that everyone children should study together, well, a person is sick, so what? And when I had some problems, someone offended me, I came home and complained, mom and dad said: “You have to figure this out yourself!” - she recalled.

I was an average student at school. At the same time, the teachers did not make concessions. “I was an ordinary girl, not the most beautiful in the class. At the age of eleven I started performing, and in adolescence a lot changed, I began to look prettier. And I had fans,” said Yulia.

Since 2002, Yulia began to conquer the pop Olympus, becoming a laureate of the regional competition “Silver Hoof - 2002” (Inta), she took first place in the children's category under 13 years old. In 2003, she took part in the All-Russian festival “On the Wings of Dreams” in Moscow. In the same 2003, she took second place in the regional competition “Silver Hoof - 2003” (Inta) in the category from 14 to 18 years old.

In 2005, she became the first prize winner and received the Audience Award at the open interregional competition “Spring Drops” (Murom) in the age group up to 30 years. In the same year, she took second place at the All-Russian competition “Shlyager - 2005” (Ekaterinburg).

In 2006, she won the International competition-festival “Rose of the Winds” in Hurghada (Egypt).

She tried herself in alternative (heavy) music: in 2008 she founded the group “TerraNova”. The team existed until 2010, leaving 6 compositions on record.

Julia became widely known after she became a finalist in the third season of the Factor A project, which ran from February 9 to April 21, 2013 on the Russia 1 channel.

“I got to “Factor A” by accident. At first I wanted to become a participant in the “Voice” project, I applied, but there was too much advertising, a lot of applications. And probably the organizers simply didn’t listen to my entry. On the eve of the castings in the “Factor” show "And" my mom called me and said that tomorrow the qualifying round for this program begins. And I hear my dad telling her: “If Yulia wants, we can buy her tickets to Moscow.” I thought: why not, it’s worth a try.” , - said Julia.

Alla Borisovna Pugacheva awarded Yulia the “Alla’s Golden Star” award. This award is a sign of personal recognition of the Russian pop prima donna.

In the same year, Yulia was entrusted to take part in the Opening Ceremony of the 2014 Winter Paralympic Games.

In the same year, she recorded two compositions: “Light” (words and music by Yulia Samoilova) and “New Day” (words by Konstantin Arsenev, music by Alexander Yakovlev). A duet was also recorded with the composition “Comet” (words and music by Gosha Kutsenko). The song was included in Gosha Kutsenko's second album.

In 2017, she became the winner of an internal competition held by Channel One to select a Russian representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.

Yulia Samoilova won with the composition “Flame Is Burning” (music and lyrics by Leonid Gutkin). Note that Leonid Gutkin previously collaborated with Eurovision participants: songs by Dina Garipova and Polina Gagarina, as well as Netta Nimrodi and Arie Burshtein.

Yulia Samoilova was supposed to begin her participation in Eurovision from the 2nd semi-final of the competition, scheduled for May 11 in Kyiv (final on May 13).

Julia considers herself a happy person and has great creative ambitions: “Yes, I’m a happy person, the only thing is that I probably won’t rest until I achieve worldwide success. I have a cherished desire. I dream of developing my vocal abilities even more, going to Eurovision and represent our country at the competition."

A fragile girl with a shock of light brown hair, delicate facial features and an angelic voice - this is how Yulia Samoilova was first seen by viewers of the Factor A project. The girl captivated everyone with the strength and beauty of her voice and character, because she went on stage in a wheelchair. The Diva of the Russian stage herself shed tears and gave a standing ovation. Even then, in 2013, many realized that Yulia Samoilova was only at the beginning of her journey - further glory awaited her.

Yulia Olegovna Samoilova was born in April 1989 in the Komi Republic. The future singer spent her childhood and teenage years in Ukhta. Yulia’s parents, Oleg and Margarita Samoilov, were born in different parts of the Soviet Union, but met in the North.

The young family faced the difficulties of development typical of the late 80s. Oleg Samoilov worked as an assembler and then as a miner to support his family. Margarita also tried different professions, having been a waitress, hairdresser and market seller. Today the Samoilovs are successful in the construction business. In addition to Yulia, there were two more children growing up in the family - son Zhenya and daughter Oksana.

Disease

In early childhood, Yulia Samoilova was a healthy child, as can be judged by the singer’s childhood photos. Everything changed after an unsuccessful vaccination - the girl stopped getting back on her feet.

The doctors' forecasts horrified the parents: the doctors said that the baby would not live to see the age of five. The treatment did not help and worsened Yulia’s health: the baby was melting before our eyes. Then the parents wrote a refusal to receive treatment, and their daughter felt much better.

Neither a wheelchair, nor the first group of disability, nor the diagnosis of Werding-Hoffmann spinal amyotrophy made by doctors at the age of 13, became an obstacle to creativity.

Music

Yulia Samoilova felt an interest in singing in early childhood. The girl still remembers her first performance: at the age of 4, Yulia performed a song at a New Year's party, sitting on her lap. The girl touched the audience and grandfather so much that he gave his granddaughter the main prize - the largest doll.

Since then, the creative biography of Yulia Samoilova began. At first, my mother studied music with the little singer. When Yulia was 10 years old, she sang at a charity concert held in her hometown. The song (the girl chose the hit “Airplane”) was chosen as the final number. After this, Samoilova began to study vocals at a professional level together with a talented teacher from the local Palace of Pioneers - Svetlana Valerievna Shirokova.

Since then, Yulia Samoilova has been a guest at various music competitions.

When Yulia turned 15, her beloved vocal teacher moved to another city. After that, the girl was engaged in creativity on her own. She developed a “fighting” character: Julia learned to put everyone who offended her in their place. Her parents taught the girl to stand up for her interests and never complain. Accompanied by her mother, Yulia Samoilova attended many competitions, participating on an equal basis with everyone else and not counting on concessions due to her disability.

Over the years, the number of victories of the young singer has grown rapidly: Yulia Samoilova is a Laureate of the regional competition “Silver Hoof 2002”. In 2003, the young singer performed at the All-Russian festival “On the Wings of Dreams” in Moscow. In 2005, she won first place at the open interregional competition “Spring Drops” and second place at the All-Russian competition “Shlyager-2005”, which was held in Yekaterinburg.

Yulia Samoilova sang wherever anyone wanted to listen to her. She especially liked rock: Julia put together a rock team, with which she performed for some time. But soon the girl realized that it was better to perform solo, and got a job as a singer in a restaurant. Samoilova's repertoire consisted of different compositions - from songs to chanson. Soon the restaurant's crowd changed: now shift workers and music lovers from all over the area came to listen to Yulia Samoilova. They started booking tables at the establishment two months in advance.

But Julia wanted more than singing in restaurants. The girl easily collected the main prizes at competitions, although at the same time she was transparently hinted that she would not be able to make a career in show business. There was a period when Yulia Samoilova decided to quit singing and entered a university, choosing the faculty of psychology. Together with a young man, Samoilova opened an advertising company. But nothing could fill the void that the vocalist felt when she quit singing.

When Yulia Samoilova won the Grand Prix at a local competition that was reminiscent of the popular “Star Factory”, the girl realized that there was no point in fighting herself.

"Factor a"

A real breakthrough in her career happened when Yulia Samoilova decided to take part in “Factor A”. Yulia was pushed to take this step by her parents and loved one.

The girl passed the preliminary audition easily and got into the project. The very first performance created a sensation: Samoilova sang the soulful composition “Prayer”, before which she received instructions from Alla Pugacheva. Alla Borisovna said that Yulia is obliged to “sing wow so as not to attract pity.” In the middle of the performance of “Prayer,” judges Alla Pugacheva and Roman Emelyanov did not sit still and listened to the rest of the song while standing.

In the project, Yulia Samoilova took second place, losing to her competitor Mali. Participation in a popular vocal show gave a powerful impetus to the girl’s career, after which the singer never returned to her native Ukhta and remained in the capital. "Alla's Golden Star" - the award that was presented to Yulia by the Prima Donna, turned out to be an incentive for further development.

Creation

Yulia Samoilova began participating in various metropolitan concerts and touring around the country. But the greatest reward for the singer was the invitation to open the Winter Paralympics in Sochi at the famous Fisht stadium with a song. Yulia sang the song “We Are Together,” bringing tears to millions of people who watched the events in Sochi.

After the song she sang at the Olympic Games, the girl got producer Alexander Yakovlev, whom she met at Factor A.

In 2016, Yulia Samoilova was invited as a special guest to the country’s main music show “The Voice”, where she presented the premiere of the video “Live” with Russian pop stars, including,.

The process of recording Igor Matvienko’s song occurred during a difficult period in Yulia’s life. The girl just underwent a complex operation. Working on new musical material inspired Samoilova, and the singer quickly got into shape. Soon a project of the same name was launched, the goal of which was to help people who find themselves in difficult life situations.

Samoilova was greatly impressed by her acquaintance with the rock singer, who invited her young colleague to take part in the “Island” festival.

Now Julia is surrounded by many wonderful and talented people, including Alla Pugacheva, Roman Emelyanov, Lolita, Mikhail Terentyev, Olga Kormukhina, Aya, Maxim Desyuk and. Yulia Samoilova gladly accepted Gosha Kutsenko’s offer to sing the song “Don’t Look Back” with him. This is a New Year's song, for which a bright video appeared.

Singing with Kutsenko, as Samoilova claims, was not just easy - it turned out to be a real pleasure: the artists found a common language instantly and gave music lovers a surprisingly harmonious hit.

In March 2017, it became known that Yulia Samoilova was coming to Ukraine with the hit Flame Is Burning.

According to some information, among the authors of the song was Leonid Gutkin, co-author of the successful European songs for (Million Voices) and (What If). The co-authors of the composition were Netta Nimrodi and Arie Burshtein - recognized specialists who “gave birth” to more than one hit. The video for the song Flame Is Burning, which appeared on the Internet, impressed many with its touching tenderness.

As it turned out, Yulia Samoilova had been preparing for the competition for a long time, but the preparation was kept strictly secret, so most of those who heard the name of the Russian contestant were surprised and even shocked.

The reaction from social networks was mixed. There were those who considered the participation of a girl in a wheelchair in an international song competition to be the height of cynicism and a desire to “pity” the audience, especially in light of how the Ukrainian public might greet a contestant from Russia. They started talking about “speculation on prohibited techniques.”

But the majority greeted the news of Yulia’s participation in Eurovision with admiration, because this girl really has no shortage of talent. The song Flame Is Burning, as soon as it appeared, took eighth place in the bookmakers' bets. The head of the Russian delegation at the competition argued that Yulia Samoilova is an original singer, a charming girl and an experienced contestant who will be able to win the hearts of millions.

However, at the end of March 2017, the Security Service of Ukraine announced the decision of the Russian Eurovision participant Yulia Samoilova to enter the territory of Ukraine. The EBU made a proposal to telecast Yulia Samoilova's speech from Moscow. But in response, Russia refused to participate in the competition.

In the same year, the singer’s first album, entitled “Live,” was released, which also included a new musical composition, “Suddenly a Friend Is Nearby.”

Personal life

Yulia Samoilova met a young man Alexei Taran on a social network. After a long correspondence, the young people phoned and, after talking for two hours straight, met. Since then, the lovers have been living together for eight years: Yulia and Alexei have a civil marriage.

Alexey Taran supports Yulia, who is two years older than him, and works as an administrator and tour manager, accompanying his talented lover everywhere. Thanks to the persistence of her common-law husband, Yulia Samoilova got involved in the Factor A project, which changed the singer’s life. Even then, the audience noticed how touchingly Lesha held Yulia’s hand and how worried he was when she performed.

The personal life of Yulia Samoilova turned out happily, despite all the obstacles. The singer claims that it’s difficult for Lesha, because the girl has a difficult character. The young man understands music, he is artistic and well-read. Looking at this couple, you understand that their relationship is based on love and the deepest mutual understanding. According to Yulia and Alexey, they are thinking about getting married. The singer often attends church. In the fall of 2017, the girl became a godmother for the third time.

In addition to the official website of Yulia Samoilova, on “ YouTube“There is a vlog of the singer “Everyday Life on Wheels”, in which the girl posts short videos dedicated to the events of her life.

Yulia Samoilova now

In connection with the incident that occurred at the Eurovision 2017 contest - with Yulia Samoilova’s refusal to participate, Russia declared the singer its own. At the beginning of the year, Samoilova’s new hit “I Won’t Break” (“I Won’t Break”) was released, which was released on the YouTube video hosting site in just a few days. The authors of the song were Leonid Gutkin, Netta Nimrodi and Arie Burshtein. Alexey Golubev worked on directing the video, he is also involved in staging the singer’s concert performance.

Applications for participation in the competition were also submitted by the 2009 winner from Norway and a representative from Israel, who was announced after performing the song Toy.

The Portuguese capital hosted an international competition for the first time, thanks to first place and his performance of the song "Amar pelos dois". The first rounds of Eurovision took place on May 8-9 in Lisbon, the final took place on May 12, 2018.

Yulia Samoilova's performance at Eurovision 2018

Unfortunately, according to the results. The girl was very upset that she could not give 100 percent. After the performance, Julia locked herself in the dressing room and burst into tears, with her husband next to her. Later, she intends to take part in the competition again in the future and get to the finals.

Recently, the country witnessed how irresponsible television journalism can undo years of preventive work by doctors and official health authorities. Talking about the Eurovision 2017 participant from Russia - wheelchair-bound Yulia Samoilova - Federal Channel One announced that in early childhood the future singer became a victim of a medical error, namely a polio vaccination. A real gift for anti-vaxxers.

“Until one year she was a normal healthy child, but she was unsuccessfully vaccinated against polio, after which serious consequences occurred. At the age of 13, Yulia Samoilova was diagnosed with Werding-Hoffmann spinal amyotrophy,” says the project page.

However, journalists did not consider it necessary to clarify what kind of disease this is and why it cannot under any circumstances be a consequence of vaccination. Apparently because, in their opinion, a genetic diagnosis will not cause such a powerful response from the television audience as a “medical error.”

Spinal amyotrophy (SMA) is a congenital pathology associated with damage to the motor neurons of the spinal cord. Unfortunately, genetic diseases are the most unstudied branch of medicine; even pediatricians do not know about many congenital diseases. And many parents of sick children are indeed sure that vaccination was the cause of the tragedy in their family. The singer’s story could draw society’s attention to congenital diseases and help patients and doctors struggling with these ailments. But such “promotion” will only convince thousands of people that anti-vaxxers are right, and will put their children at risk of contracting vaccine-controlled infections long ago defeated.

Why the polio vaccine cannot be associated with hereditary spinal amyotrophy, and in what cases such a vaccine is still contraindicated, said scientists - a geneticist and an immunologist.

“Hereditary diseases cannot be provoked”

Leading researcher at the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Medical Genetics Research Center", Doctor of Medical Sciences. Vyacheslav Chernykh.

Genetic mutations in a child cannot arise as a result of vaccinations or any other environmental factors - they are already present in the germ cells of the parents. And, accordingly, in all cells of the child’s growing body. The genetics responsible for the functions of the nervous system and neuromuscular system cannot be affected by either the virus or the vaccine against it. But people tend to explain everything by what they know. No one thinks about hereditary diseases, that this is not somewhere far away, but may concern him. Parents know that their child, who has not been sick before, was vaccinated, and they draw erroneous conclusions. But “after” does not mean “because of this.”

The fact is that every person has dozens of mutations. And carriage of mutations associated with spinal amyotrophy is, unfortunately, very common. Another thing is that inheritance for this disease is recessive. This means that no one in the family has ever been sick, and then, when healthy parents suddenly give birth to a sick child, it is impossible to understand. In fact, both parents were carriers of the mutation and both passed it on to the child.

A hereditary disease cannot be provoked by anything; if it exists, it will definitely manifest itself sooner or later. And this cannot be connected in any way with vaccination. Real medical outlets do not exist for such a large number of the population. And they are associated not with genetics, but with allergic and autoimmune diseases.

“The diagnosis of SMA has nothing to do with polio”

Head of the Laboratory of Vaccine Prevention and Immunotherapy of Allergic Diseases, Department of Allergology, Federal State Budgetary Institution Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums named after. I. I. Mechnikova,” Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Mikhail Kostinov.

Very often, many problems are attributed to vaccination, but this is not so. As for polio, there really were problems with it before - due to the fact that children in the first year of life were vaccinated with a live vaccine. The fact is that there is such a congenital defect of the immune system as primary immunodeficiency. Every year 15-16 such children are born in Russia. And because of this, we had about 10 cases of vaccine-associated polio every year, which developed in such children after vaccination with a live vaccine.

Now children under one year of age are vaccinated only with killed vaccine. The live inactivated vaccine is given to older children. By the age of one year, primary immunodeficiency, if it exists, is already manifested by endless illnesses of the child, and establishing a diagnosis is not a problem. And even in this case, revaccination can be continued - just not with a live vaccine, but with a killed vaccine.

But, in any case, the diagnosis of SMA has nothing to do with either polio or vaccination against this disease. But there will probably always be anti-vaxxers. In any area of life there are those who are “for” and those who are “against”. Everything depends on the literacy of people, who need to be educated, and not frightened with fables, for the sake of a catchphrase. Such things ruin all the efforts of doctors.
