"Prasitel" for dogs is available in several forms - tablets and suspension. This allows the owner to select the most convenient drug for use, as well as calculate the correct dosage based on the weight of the animal.

Prazitel suspension for dogs is more in demand, because it is very convenient to give to an animal. The kit, in addition to detailed instructions, also contains a syringe dispenser, which allows you to effortlessly measure the required dosage for the animal. Let's look at the suspension and tablets in more detail below.

The product also contains auxiliary substances and water.

The manufacturer even produces the suspension in two variations, which differ in purpose, as they have different compositions. This allows the drug to be used more productively for animals with different body weights.

The safest possible drug has been created for puppies; it does not contain fenbendazole. Each milliliter of medicine contains 30 mg of pyrantel pamoate and 3 mg of praziquantel. For dogs of large breeds, the concentration of substances is higher, so it contains pyrantel pamoate 140 mg, praziquantel - 50 mg + 100 mg fenbendazole.

Dogs easily take the drug, since it contains not only active substances, but also auxiliary substances that slightly improve the taste. "Prasitel" for small and large dogs differs in dosage, and in order to measure the dosage more accurately, the manufacturer has equipped the product with a dispenser.

Prazitel tablets for dogs

Just like the suspension, this variation of the drug is available in two forms:

  1. "Prasitel Plus" This medicine can be used for four-legged animals of different body weights and different ages (not earlier than two weeks of age). One tablet of the drug contains the same concentration of active ingredients as the suspension for adults - the maximum amount. As for the excipients, these are starch, milk sugar, gelatin.
  2. "Prasitel" for puppies and cats. This type of tablet has a more gentle composition, so it is most often recommended for use for children. There is no fenbendazole, and the remaining active ingredients are the same as in the puppy suspension. The auxiliary components are the same as in the previous type of tablets.

One box of tablets contains from 2 to 10 pieces. This packaging allows you not to overpay for excess items, which will then simply go in the trash. In addition to the tablets, the box contains detailed instructions.

Pharmacological properties

Once in the animal’s gastrointestinal tract, the active substances quickly penetrate the blood, which carries them throughout the body. The components are removed from the four-legged body within two days.

Indications for use

A drug is prescribed for the treatment of:

  • nematodes that occur due to roundworms;
  • opisthorchiasis;
  • cestodoses that appear as a result of infection with tapeworms and their vital activity;
  • mixed invasions.

The drug is used not only for treatment, but also as a prevention of infection. To protect your pet, you need to give him an anthelmintic quarterly, as well as additionally before mating and before vaccination.

"Prasitel" for dogs: instructions for use

This drug is good because it is not necessary to fast the animal before using it. The medicine should be given once - before morning feeding. Shake the suspension and mix with food. Feed the dog. If the pet refuses to take the medicine like this, then act forcibly. Fill the dispenser with the required amount of the drug, pour it onto the root of the tongue, close the dog’s mouth, hold its head up until it swallows the medicine. The tablets should also be crushed and added to the food. You may have to force them on your dog.

The dose depends on the weight of the animal and the type of drug chosen:

  1. "Prasitel" for small breed dogs and puppies in the form of a suspension without fenbendazole is calculated at 1 ml for each kilogram of weight. This medicine is not suitable for adults and large breeds, as it is weak.
  2. Fenbendazole suspension is only suitable for medium and large breeds, as well as adults. Here the calculation of one milliliter is already 10 kilograms.
  3. Tablets for puppies (simply "Prasitel") are calculated as follows: one tablet for every kilogram.
  4. "Prazitel Plus" is given 1 pill for every 10 kg of animal. It is not used for puppies and dogs smaller than 10 kilograms, since it is not possible to calculate the exact dosage.

For prophylaxis, the drug is used 1 time. During treatment, the dose is repeated after 10 days.

Contraindications, side effects

Contraindications:

  • up to two weeks old;
  • pregnant dogs;
  • when exhausted;
  • postoperative period, recovery from illnesses;
  • within two weeks after birth;
  • intolerance to components.

Side effects are very rare and only when the recommended dose is exceeded. Most often it appears:

  • apathy;
  • depressed state;
  • heavy salivation;
  • diarrhea or vomiting.

Symptoms usually go away on their own, without outside help. If the condition does not return to normal within 24 hours, you should consult a doctor.

The Prazitel Plus suspension has proven itself well in the prevention and control of helminths in dogs and in any phase of their manifestation. The medicine is created on the basis of olive oil, to enhance the absorption of directly working components, the taste is improved by the sweetener aspasvit (content per 1 ml of the drug - 64 ml). The composition includes purified water and ethyl alcohol.

1 ml of composition contains:

  • fenbendazole - 100 mg;
  • pyrantel pamoate - 140 mg;
  • praziquantel - 50 mg.

These terms are also used as unpatented second names for drugs. There are also excipients, of which per 1 ml are:

  • Tween-80 - 10.5 mg;
  • Aerosil - 2.5 mg;
  • nipagin - 0.45 mg;
  • nipazole - 0.2 mg.
Format: oral suspension, color light yellow with creamy shades. It goes on sale with a dispenser syringe in a package. The drug is packaged in 10 ml bottles made of dark polymer with a cap that controls the first opening.

Did you know? Some types of tapeworm can reach 40 cm in length.

Biological properties

Within 1-4 hours, it is absorbed into the blood and distributed to all organs and tissues, the main area of influence being the gastrointestinal tract. It is excreted from the animal’s body in the next 24-48 hours in a metabolic state, with waste products.

Indications for use

"Prasitel" is used for the prevention and control of helminthic diseases in dogs of medium and large breeds. Diseases of the nematodosis group include: hookworm, trichuriasis, uncinariasis, as well as toxocariasis and toxoscariasis. Effective in the treatment of cestodiasis, represented by: diphyllobothriasis, taeniasis, dipylidiasis, echinococcosis and mesocestoidosis. Used for mixed diseases of both groups.

Even taking into account all storage conditions and requirements, visual separation of the suspension is allowed. Therefore, before giving Prazitel to a dog, you need to shake it. Prophylactic use is recommended once a quarter, at the rate of 1 ml for every 10 kg of animal weight. If the appointment coincides with vaccination, the recommended delay is 10 days.
No additional preparation such as diet or laxative intake is required. Puppies begin to be treated from two weeks of age, using a therapeutic dose. The suspension is given either with morning feeding, or using a dispenser, forcibly injecting the drug orally onto the root of the tongue.

For females during the labor period, medical supervision is required. For a pregnant female, use is possible only from the second half of her term; for a lactating female - three weeks after whelping.

When working with puppies, it is very important to follow the correct dosage. The instructions for use of the Prazitel suspension note the need to take into account the weight of the animal. When dying, helminths release a large amount of toxins dangerous to the animal; their high concentration causes severe intoxication.
If a baby is heavily wormed, his body is usually very weakened. And even the correct dosage of the drug in other respects can cause vomiting, diarrhea, refusal to eat and other consequences that can lead to the death of the dog.

Important!When deworming puppies, it is useful to give a spoonful of Vaseline oil along with the drug. It has an enveloping effect, thereby reducing the intoxication of a fragile body and promoting the accelerated removal of toxins.

Precautions and personal hygiene rules

When using Prazitel Plus, follow standard precautions when working with veterinary medicinal products. Do not smoke, drink, or eat food without first washing your hands with detergent.

It is not advisable to use empty suspension bottles in everyday life.
If you may have an allergy to the components of the drug, do not allow direct contact, and in case of contact, rinse the contact area with plenty of water. If the drug enters your body and causes it, immediately contact a medical facility and take with you the instructions for the medication.

Contraindications and side effects

Prazitel suspension should not be given to dogs undergoing treatment with piperazine and levamisole, as well as any of their derivatives, as it increases their toxicity.

The medicine is not used for productive animals. Also, do not use the drug if the animal is exhausted or suffers from infectious diseases.

In rare cases of special sensitivity of the animal to the composition, stool disturbances, intoxication or allergies may occur.

Storage period and conditions

The drug is suitable for use for 2 years from the date of manufacture. The shelf life of the drug is 2 years. It should be stored separately from any food and feed, in an unlit place, not exceeding a temperature of 25°C. The medicine should be inaccessible to children and animals.

Reviews of Prazitel for dogs

Review #1

My three-month-old puppy had worms and so I went to the veterinary pharmacy. Prasitel was recommended to me because it is especially suitable for puppies. And the drug really helped. But what worried me most was that the dog felt quite normal, and there were no side effects after using Prazitel. Now I use it all the time.

Review #2

I read about Prazitel on the Internet; it was highly praised on the forums as one of the best medicines for getting rid of. In principle, I can say that I was not deceived. My dog had to be tested two years and two months ago and at the same time he was diagnosed with helminths. I gave this medicine myself and a repeat test for helminths showed that my dog was completely healthy. So I can confidently recommend it to everyone.

Review #3

We recently adopted a puppy from the shelter, that is, just a puppy. In principle, we decided to drive away the worms without testing, purely for preventive purposes. I read a lot of reviews about medications and chose Prasitel, because a lot was written about it on reputable Internet resources.
