Chorionic gonadotropin 5000 units for how long. Why do you need to give an HCG injection to a woman? Application in childhood

Most often, gonadotropin is used in sports and bodybuilding, but its use is much more extensive. For athletes, it helps to produce more testosterone, exhibits an anabolic effect, while for women, hCG therapy is sometimes required not only during pregnancy, but also before it. Restoration of the menstrual cycle, improvement of the corpus luteum, stimulation of follicles- all this requires the use of this tool. How to take gonadotropin in all these cases, so as not to harm yourself?

Dosage and mode of taking hCG

Gonadotropin in tablets is not used, because it has low efficiency, therefore it is administered by injection into the muscle. Here it is absorbed faster, which means it begins to work more actively. You can make injections on your own, but only if you have the necessary skills so as not to damage other important areas near the muscle.

The dosage of the drug is selected in each case purely individually. In pharmacies, gonadotropin is usually provided in doses from 500 IU to 10,000 IU, which allows you to immediately dilute the right amount of the drug by making one injection.

The standard dosages of gonadotropin used will be given below, but it should be used only as directed by a doctor. We must not forget that improper treatment with this medicine can bring many problems, as well as delay the treatment of the underlying disease. So, the standard dosages for various pathologies, as a rule, are as follows:

  • When stimulating the corpus luteum, it is enough to use hCG in the amount of 1500 IU for one day of ovulation (that is, on the third, sixth and ninth day), or to inject 5000 IU at a time.
  • With threats of miscarriage, 10,000 IU are prescribed first, then therapy is continued weekly at 5,000 IU twice. Terms of application are strictly limited. You need to start and end treatment, respectively, from 8 to 14 weeks of pregnancy.
  • Gonadotropin injections are also made to maintain pregnancy, if a woman had previously experienced habitual miscarriage. The dosage in this case is similar to that prescribed for threatened miscarriage.
  • Stimulation of follicle growth precedes further reproductive activities. In the latter case, a single injection of 10,000 IU of gonadotropin is sufficient to select a mature egg within 34 hours.
  • In cases of developmental delay, hCG is prescribed in the amount of 3000-5000 IU for 3 months every week. This dosage is suitable for adolescents, but for men, hCG 500, 1500 or 2000 IU is more often used 2-3 times a week. The course of therapy is selected individually and can last 1.5-3 months.
  • Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism is treated when combined with menotropins. Enter 1500-6000 IU of gonadotropin at a time.
  • Up to 6 years of age, boys with cryptorchidism are injected with either 500 IU twice a week, or at a time 1000 IU for 6 weeks. After 6 years, the dosage of gonadotropin increases and will be 1500 IU, and the drug must be administered twice a week.

Rules for the injection of gonadotropin

HCG is sold in a pharmacy, usually in the form of a powder for injection, which is then diluted either with a special solution or with water for injection. Dilution of the drug at home is done as follows:

  1. Remove the rubber protective cap without opening the vial;
  2. Wipe it with alcohol;
  3. Draw water for injection (2 ml) into a clean syringe and, without removing the cap from the bottle, pierce it with a needle and inject the liquid into it slowly;
  4. Diluted medicine should not be shaken, left in the sun or warmed in any way;
  5. Take the solution into the cavity without removing the syringe, and inject.

An injection of gonadotropin is done in the same way as any other intramuscular injection. The safest area is the gluteal muscle, and not all, but only its upper part. In order not to hurt the sciatic nerve, mentally draw a cross on the buttock.

The upper outer thigh is the best place for a self-administered intramuscular injection. Naturally, both before the procedure and after it, it is necessary to treat the area with alcohol.

The storage of the drug must also be approached correctly so that it does not deteriorate. So, chorionic gonadotropin should be stored in the refrigerator (not in the freezer!), Especially if it has already been diluted. You can choose another cool place for him, as long as the temperature is not higher than 10-12 degrees.

The production of testosterone plays an important role in the functioning of the body of men and women. The drug Chorionic Gonadotropin in the form of injections, according to the instructions for use, solves an important task - to increase its level in case of deviation from the norm. What other effect does the drug have, for what problems is it prescribed, how to use it correctly - about this in detail in the annotation.

What is human chorionic gonadotropin

This is the name of the hormone responsible for puberty, reproductive function. What is hCG for a woman's body? This is a substance that is actively produced after fertilization of the egg. Refers to gonadotropic hormones, but differs in the sequence of amino acids. Exceeding the norm of hCG confirms the onset of pregnancy. This determines the pharmacy test that reacts to its content in the urine. An increase in hCG in non-pregnant women can signal the presence of a malignant tumor.

The introduction of the drug causes an increase in the production of sex hormones in men, the development of secondary sexual characteristics, and stimulates the activity of spermatozoa. During use in women:

  • increased production of estrogen, progesterone by the ovaries;
  • ovulation is stimulated;
  • the function of the corpus luteum is normalized;
  • proper development of the placenta.

Composition and form of release

Gonadotropin is available as two components, packaged in a box. Each contains 5 medicine kits. The composition has:

  • The solvent is a physiological solution of sodium chloride with a concentration of 0.9%.
  • Sterile glass vial with a substance in the form of a white powder, contains 500 or 1000 IU - units of action. The basis is human chorionic gonadotropin, obtained from biological material, which has undergone the process of lyophilization - drying in a vacuum. Auxiliary component - mannitol.

pharmachologic effect

Recombinant human chorionic gonadotropin - a hormone that is produced by the placenta, is excreted from the body with the urine of a pregnant woman, from where it is extracted to obtain a medicine. When administered as an intramuscular injection, it produces a therapeutic effect. Active substance:

  • enters the bloodstream after 15 minutes;
  • distributed in tissues;
  • excreted in the urine;
  • half-life - 8 hours.

The drug Gonadotropin refers to the hormones of the hypothalamus:

  • In women, it normalizes ovarian function, activates the formation of the corpus luteum, stimulates the production of progesterone, estrogen. The application contributes to the luteinizing action - the correct process of ovulation.
  • Gonadotropin for men helps the formation of secondary sexual characteristics, stimulates spermatogenesis. The tool accelerates the lowering of the testicles into the scrotum in the treatment of cryptorchidism, activates the production of the hormone testosterone.

Indications for the use of chorionic gonadotropin

  • infertility as a result of hormonal disorders;
  • late puberty of girls and boys;
  • violation of the function of reproduction of offspring;
  • decreased synthesis of sex hormones.

For men

A decrease in the level of gonadotropin creates serious problems in the body. HCG in men is responsible for the activity of spermatozoa, the production of sex hormones. The tool is prescribed if:

  • cryptorchidism;
  • reproductive disorders;
  • insufficient activity of the sex glands;
  • testicular hypoplasia;
  • spermatogenesis disorders;
  • phenomena of eunuchoidism;
  • hypogenitalism.

For women

The hormone gonadotropin plays an important role in the treatment of female infertility caused by dysfunction of the corpus luteum. It helps to get pregnant in the absence of ovulation, when the follicle cannot burst to fertilize the egg. Indications for the use of the drug by women are:

  • ovarian dysfunction;
  • uterine bleeding in childbearing age;
  • the threat of miscarriage in the first trimester;
  • disorders, lack of menstruation.

Instructions for use of chorionic gonadotropin

The drug is prescribed intramuscularly. How to inject gonadotropin? The technique, the duration of the course, is determined by the doctor, which depends on the disease, the planned result. The duration of therapy is up to 45 days. There are features:

  • In men, treatment with the drug is used 3 times a week for a month, the dose is up to 3000 IU. This is followed by a six-week break and a new course. This can happen up to 3 times a year.
  • The drug is prescribed to boys with cryptorchidism with a dosage of 1000 IU twice a week for a month and a half. There are several courses.

Treatment for women depends on the problem:

  • to stimulate ovulation - one injection of 10,000 IU;
  • with a threat of miscarriage, 10,000 IU are administered for the first time, then twice a week, 5,000 IU each;
  • in the case of anovulatory dysfunction with a high level of estrogen, the injection is carried out on the 10-12th day of the menstrual cycle, the dose is 3000 IU, 2-3 injections with an interval of several days;
  • to normalize the production of the corpus luteum - up to 5000 IU for 3, 6, 9 days after ovulation.

In bodybuilding

The use of gonadotropin by athletes, along with the use of steroids, has been controversial. Professionals do not confirm high results after taking hormonal drugs. Gonadotropin in bodybuilding with high dosages provokes dysfunction of the testicles, hypothalamus, pituitary gland. There are groups of bodybuilders who use the remedy for a long time and note:

  • obtaining a beautiful muscle relief;
  • increase endurance in training;
  • stimulation of spermatogenesis;
  • increase in sexual desire.

During pregnancy

Caution should be exercised in the treatment of gonadotropin during pregnancy. Gynecologists prescribe medication in exceptional cases, the course is carried out in a hospital under the strict supervision of a physician. When using the drug, an adverse effect on the body of a pregnant woman is possible:

  • increased risk of miscarriage;
  • the development of multiple pregnancies.

special instructions

Instructions for use require to exclude the interaction of gonadotropic hormones with glucocorticosteroids. Prolonged administration of the drug can lead to the formation of antibodies to it. Special instructions during application:

  • it is not recommended to drive a car, work on units that require a high concentration of attention;
  • combination with alcohol is not recommended;
  • in the treatment of men, the level of androgens rises - medical supervision is necessary.

The annotation to the drug stipulates important points:

  • solution for injection is prepared before use, storage is unacceptable;
  • if ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome occurs, treatment must be stopped;
  • you need to stop feeding during treatment during lactation;
  • with prolonged administration, the functions of the pituitary gland decrease;
  • the medicine can not be used after the expiration date.

Side effects of human chorionic gonadotropin

It is unacceptable to self-medicate, with an overdose, serious side effects are inevitable. Unpleasant symptoms can affect many systems. In this case, the reactions of the body are observed:

  • weakness;
  • depression;
  • irritability;

Chorionic gonadotropin is a pharmacological agent and belongs to the group of hormonal agents. Most often it is known as the pregnancy hormone. After a successful conception, this hormone begins to be intensely secreted. Determining the level of hCG is one of the accurate diagnostic methods.

The topic, which is chorionic gonadotropin, does not lose its relevance today. This hormone is actively used to stimulate ovulation, that is, the release of an egg from the ovary into the fallopian tube, due to the bursting of the follicle. It is used in both sexes for medical reasons. What problems are solved thanks to this hormone and what effect it has on the body - this will be discussed in more detail in the article.

Release form and composition

The main component of the drug is human chorionic gonadotropin, which is produced by the human placenta and excreted in the urine of pregnant women.

The tool consists of:

  1. White powder for intramuscular injection. The drug is available in vials containing 500ME, 1000ME, 1500ME and 5000ME - units of action. Additionally added to the composition of the substance mannitol.
  2. As a solvent, a 0.9% physiological sodium chloride solution is used in an amount of 1 ml. The product is released in 5 bottles in a paper box.

The action of the drug

When ingested, the drug has the following therapeutic effect:

Among women:

  • normalizes the work of the ovaries;
  • increases the biosynthesis of sex hormones ─ progesterone and estrogen;
  • participates in the development of the placenta;
  • participates in the process of ovulation;
  • at the beginning of pregnancy stimulates the corpus luteum to produce progesterone.

For men:

  • participates in the formation of male germ cells - spermatozoa;
  • stimulates the production and disruption of the biosynthesis of steroid hormones;
  • promotes the formation of secondary sexual characteristics.

Pharmacokinetics

Chorionic gonadotropin after ingestion is absorbed well and then excreted within 8 hours by the kidneys. With daily use, accumulation of the drug is observed. The maximum concentration in the blood occurs from 4 to 12 hours.

Advantages and disadvantages of the drug:

  • despite the fact that the remedy is used for infertility and impaired impotence, scientists have proven that human chorionic gonadotropin can be used in weight loss, as it allows you to reduce the fat layer;
  • in some cases, the analysis of this hormone can detect tumors several months before the onset of symptoms. This helps to start the fight against the disease earlier and increase the effectiveness of treatment.

Indications for the use of Gonadotropin

The tool is used in the treatment of both men and women.

  • infertility in women associated with impaired ovarian function ─ a violation of the process of release of the egg from the ovary;
  • late sexual development of boys and girls, violation of the biosynthesis of the gonads, due to damage to the pituitary gland and hypothalamus;
  • habitual miscarriage or the inability of a woman to bear a fetus;
  • spontaneous miscarriage.

For boys and men:

  • delayed sexual development associated with dysfunction of the pituitary gland;
  • congenital underdevelopment or decrease in the functions of the sex glands and genital organs;
  • a disease associated with a decrease in the functions of the sex glands, obesity and underdevelopment of the genital organs;
  • testicular hypoplasia - the disease is an underdevelopment of one of the male gonads;
  • congenital pathology, which is associated with the absence of testicles in the scrotum;
  • a disease characterized by a violation of the biosynthesis of sex hormones: androgens;
  • a pathological condition with sexual underdevelopment, in which there is a deposition of fat in the shoulder girdle, on the abdomen, buttocks and thighs. It occurs during childhood.

Medication use and dosage

Instructions for use HCG:

The drug is prescribed to inject into the gluteal muscle, that is, intramuscularly. HCG injection is prescribed by the doctor for a course for a long period. It is important that this is done by a specially trained person who knows how to give intramuscular injections, or by a nurse in the treatment room.

The dosage and course of therapy is adjusted by the doctor individually depending on the disease.

The medication is available in the following dosages:

  • Chorionic gonadotropin 500 IU;
  • Chorionic gonadotropin 1 thousand units;
  • Chorionic gonadotropin 5000 IU;
  • Chorionic gonadotropin 1500 IU;
  • Chorionic gonadotropin 10000 IU.

The duration of therapy is 45 days, but there are some peculiarities.

The purpose of the remedy depending on the specific disease:

  1. An injection of hCG when stimulating ovulation is done 1 time at a dosage of 10,000 IU.
  2. If there is a threat of miscarriage, 10 thousand IU is administered once, then 5000 IU twice a week.
  3. In case of ovarian dysfunction and elevated estrogen levels - the dosage is 3000 IU at intervals of several days and the introduction of 2-3 injections on the 10-12th day of the menstrual cycle.
  4. For regular production of the corpus luteum, they inject on the 3rd, 6th, 9th day after ovulation hCG 5000 IU.
  5. The drug is prescribed for boys in the absence of testicles in the scrotum with a course of 1.5 months, 2 times a week and a dosage of 1000 IU
  6. Men are prescribed treatment with the drug for 30 days, 3 times a week at a dosage of 3000 IU. The new course is continued with a break after 6 weeks. During the year, such a course can be held three times.

How to dilute the drug Gonadotropin?

Before injecting the drug, you need to properly dilute it. It is recommended to use a freshly prepared solution before giving an injection:

  • without opening the bottle, remove the plastic cap and wipe it with alcohol;
  • measure with a syringe the required amount of solvent indicated in the instructions and pour it into the vial with the powder;
  • the diluted preparation should not be shaken vigorously, as its effectiveness may be reduced.

How to inject Gonadotropin?

An injection of hCG when stimulating ovulation is recommended by specialists in the abdomen, as it is much more convenient and less painful. This simple procedure can be mastered and done by yourself at home:

Procedure technique:

  • before injecting, wash your hands;
  • combine and gently mix the powder and solvent in one vial;
  • draw medicine into the syringe and choose the injection site, at the level or under the navel, stepping back 2 fingers;
  • wipe the abdominal area with an alcohol wipe;
  • grasping a fold of skin, insert the needle directly at an angle of 90 or 45 degrees and slowly pour in the medicine;
  • Remove the needle and wipe the injection site with an alcohol wipe.

How long does it take to get an hCG injection?

Firstly, there is no single answer to this question, since each organism is individual and the elimination period is different for everyone. The only way to confirm hormone levels is through a blood test.

Secondly, an injection of hCG 10,000 when it leaves the body during pregnancy is difficult to say, since natural gonadotropin begins to work.

Side effects

Self-treatment will lead to serious consequences:

  • allergy to the components of the drug;
  • women develop an increase in ovarian activity, which can lead to the formation of cysts, with the possibility of their rupture.
  • development of multiple pregnancy;
  • in men and boys, there is an increase in the mammary glands, possibly an increase in the prostate gland, skin rashes in the form of acne, earlier puberty.

Contraindications

The medication is contraindicated in case of:

  1. Hypersensitivity to components.
  2. The presence of a tumor in the genitals and breasts.
  3. Disease of the veins, when a blood clot forms in the lumen of the vessel.
  4. High blood pressure.
  5. Lack of thyroid hormone.
  6. Headaches.
  7. Sudden onset of seizures.

For women:

  1. lactation period.
  2. Incorrect formation of the genital organs.
  3. Bleeding of unknown origin.

Gonadotropin analogs

Sometimes the medication prescribed by the doctor is not suitable for the patient. Analogues of the drug come to the rescue:

  • Chorale;
  • Ecostimulin;
  • Horagon;
  • Pregnyl.

Stimulation of ovulation

In the absence of ovulation, women who are planning a child need help with conception. In this situation, artificial hCG preparations come to the rescue - special injections containing a remedy such as human chorionic gonadotropin.

An injection of hCG when stimulating ovulation is considered a safe and effective remedy.

So, an hCG injection for ovulation is prescribed by a specialist after a thorough examination of patients ─ testing for hormones, semen analysis - in men, which shows the ability to conceive and a compatibility test - in partners.

An injection of hCG when stimulating ovulation is prescribed:

  1. In the absence of ovulation, due to hormonal imbalance or other elementary reasons, such as stress.
  2. Habitual miscarriage. HCG injections are prescribed starting from the preparation stage, and during gestation.
  3. Insufficient production of the corpus luteum, formed after ovulation, and producing the hormone progesterone. In this case, the course of injections is prescribed before the formation of the placenta.
  4. In preparation for in vitro fertilization.
  5. To improve the quality of sperm and increase the possibility of conception.

HCG injections during ovulation stimulation with clostilbegit

The drug Klostilbegit is used as a stimulant in which the formation of one or more eggs occurs. At the same time, the drug leads to an increase in the production of the hormone prolactin. The therapy is carried out under the control of ultrasound from the 5th -9th day of the cycle. Based on the examination, the dynamics of follicle growth is assessed to the desired size. When ovulation occurs, an hCG injection is prescribed to activate the process.

If after 3 stimulations there was no progress in treatment, it is worth resorting to other therapy regimens. If used incorrectly, an early menopause is possible.

Unfortunately, ovulation after an hCG injection is not always successful. A reduced level of hCG can cause fetal death, missed and ectopic pregnancy.

Contraindications for stimulation:

  • Infectious diseases;
  • Inflammatory processes;
  • Hormone imbalance;
  • Inflammatory diseases of the liver;
  • Obstruction of the fallopian tubes;
  • male infertility;
  • Poor semen analysis.

It is important to remember that self-treatment with hormones is unacceptable, this can affect the state of the body. In this regard, taking the drug chorionic gonadotropin and its analogues should be taken under the strict supervision of a specialist and monitor the hormonal background and the general condition of the patient. This will greatly increase the chances of recovery.

chorionic gonadotropin reviews in women with stimulation:

  • Elsa, Yekaterinburg

There were problems with ovulation, the follicles developed, but did not burst. The gynecologist prescribed an injection of hCG 5000 IU in one of the cycles. The doctor monitored the development of the follicle by ultrasound and gave injections. Everything went well. The long-awaited pregnancy has come. With an injection, the chances of conception increase.

The only drawback is the price of the issue.

For a long time it was not possible to get pregnant, as there were hormonal problems. There was no need for stimulation. The gynecologist ordered a series of tests and prescribed a course of drugs. Among them was Gonadotropin 1000 IU. Thanks to this tool, I was able to conceive the first time.

I am grateful to the drug for the happiness of motherhood.

My husband and I wanted a second child, but there was a frozen pregnancy at an early stage. The doctor said that the problem is the presence of endometriosis. After undergoing a course of treatment to improve the inner layer of the uterus, the result was obtained, and the gynecologist gave the go-ahead for conception. To enhance ovulation, he recommended an injection of hCG 5000 IU. The ultrasound doctor confirmed the presence of ovulation. Everything worked out, thanks to the medicine for a real chance!

One vial contains

active substance - chorionic gonadotropin 500 IU and 1000 IU,

excipient - mannitol (mannitol).

One ampoule of solvent contains - sodium chloride solution 9 mg/ml -1 ml.

Description

Lyophilized white or almost white powder.

Pharmacotherapeutic group

Sex hormones and modulators of the reproductive system. Gonadotropins and other ovulation stimulants. Gonadotropins. Chorionic gonadotropin.

ATX code G03GA01

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacokinetics

The maximum concentration in the blood of chorionic gonadotropin after

intramuscular injection is achieved after 4-12 hours (depending on

administered dose).

The half-life is 8 hours. Excreted by the kidneys, most in the form of fragments of the β-chain, about 10-20% - unchanged.

Pharmacodynamics

A hormonal drug excreted from the urine of pregnant women. It has a gonadotropic effect, mainly luteinizing. Stimulates the synthesis of sex hormones in the ovaries and testicles, ovulation in women and spermatogenesis in men. Stimulates the development of the genital organs and secondary sexual characteristics.

Indications for use

ANDwomen:

Ovarian dysfunction (anovulatory)

Maintenance of the corpus luteum phase

Men and boys:

Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism

Delayed puberty due to insufficiency of the gonadotropic function of the pituitary gland

Cryptorchidism not due to anatomical obstruction

When conducting a differential diagnostic test of anorchism and

cryptorchidism in boys

When performing a Leydig functional test to assess testicular function in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism before starting long-term stimulation treatment

Dosage and administration

After adding the solvent to the lyophilisate, the reconstituted solution of chorionic gonadotropin is injected intramuscularly, slowly. The prepared solution is not subject to storage, since further preservation of the sterility of the solution is not guaranteed. The indicated dosages are approximate, the treatment should be adjusted by the doctor individually, depending on the desired response to the administration of the drug.

Among women:

In anovulatory cycles, chorionic gonadotropin is prescribed, starting from the 10-12th day of the menstrual cycle, 3000 IU 2-3 times with an interval of 2-3 days or 1500 IU 6-7 times every other day

To maintain the corpus luteum phase, two to three repeated injections of the drug at a dose of 1000 IU to 3000 IU each can be given within 9 days after ovulation or embryo transfer (for example, on days 3, 6 and 9 after ovulation induction)

For men and boys:

With hypogonadotropic hypogonadism - 1000-2000 IU of the drug 2-3 times a week. In case of infertility, it is possible to combine chorionic gonadotropin with an additional preparation containing follitropin (follicle-stimulating hormone) 2-3 times a week. The course of treatment should last at least 3 months, when any improvement in spermatogenesis can be expected. During this treatment, it is necessary to suspend testosterone replacement therapy. When improvement in spermatogenesis has been achieved, it is sufficient, in some cases, to maintain it, the isolated use of chorionic gonadotropin

With a delay in puberty due to insufficiency of the gonadotropic function of the pituitary gland - 1500 IU 2-3 times a week. The course of treatment - at least 6 months

For cryptorchidism not due to anatomical obstruction:

aged 3 to 6 years- 500-1000 IU twice a week for 6 weeks,

aged over 6 years-1500 IU twice a week for 6 weeks,

the course of treatment, if necessary, can be repeated.

For the purpose of differential diagnosis of cryptorchidism and anorchism in boys, chorionic gonadotropin is administered intramuscularly once at a dosage of 100 IU/kg, the concentration of testosterone in the blood serum is determined before the start of the test and 72-96 hours after the injection of the drug. In the case of anorchism, the test will be negative, indicating the absence of testicular tissue, in the case of cryptorchidism, even if only one testicle is present, positive (5-10-fold increase in testosterone concentration). If the test is weakly positive, a search for the gonad (abdominal ultrasound or laparoscopy) is necessary, as there is a high risk of malignancy.

During the Leydig functional test: chorionic gonadotropin at a dose of 1500 IU is administered intramuscularly for 3 days, at the same time; the next day after the last injection, blood is taken and testosterone levels are examined; if its increase from the initial values by 30-50% or more is observed, then the sample is assessed as positive; it is preferable to combine this test with another spermogram on the same day (the day after the injection).

Side effects

Immune system disorders: in rare cases, a generalized rash, fever, Quincke's edema, urticaria may occur.

General disorders and disorders at the injection site: when using human chorionic gonadotropin, reactions at the injection site, such as bruising, pain, redness, swelling and itching, may occur. In men and boys with latent or overt heart failure, impaired renal function, arterial hypertension, epilepsy or migraine (or with a history of these conditions); in boys in prepubertal age; in patients with bronchial asthma.

Drug Interactions

It is necessary to avoid the joint use of the drug chorionic gonadotropin with high doses of glucocorticosteroids.

Other cases of drug interactions have not been noted.

The drug may affect the immunological determination of chorionic gonadotropin in plasma / urine for up to 10 days, a pregnancy test may be false positive.

special instructions

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin should only be used under the supervision of a medical specialist.

For women:

Before starting treatment, the patient must undergo gynecological and endocrinological examinations.

In pregnancy that occurs after ovulation stimulation with gonadotropic drugs, there is an increased risk of multiple pregnancies.

Women with tubal obstruction have an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy. It is important to conduct early ultrasound diagnosis to determine ectopic pregnancy.

Before treatment, it is necessary to exclude uncontrolled gonadal endocrinopathies (for example, disorders of the thyroid, adrenal or pituitary glands, diabetes mellitus), anatomical anomalies of the genital organs. Primary ovarian failure should be ruled out by measuring gonadotropin levels.

Women with risk factors for thrombosis (personal or family history, severe obesity (body mass index >30 kg/m2) or thrombophilia may be at increased risk of venous or arterial thromboembolism during or after treatment with gonadotropins. It should be noted that pregnancy itself increases the risk of developing thromboembolic diseases.

Unwanted ovarian hyperstimulation may occur in patients undergoing follicle growth stimulation. Unwanted ovarian hyperstimulation is diagnosed on the basis of an ultrasound examination. In the event of unwanted ovarian hyperstimulation, the use of drugs containing FSH should be stopped immediately. In such cases, it is necessary to avoid pregnancy and chorionic gonadotropin should not be prescribed, since the appointment of LH - active gonadotropin at this stage can cause, in addition to multiple ovulation, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. These precautions are especially important for patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Clinical manifestations of OHSS include gastrointestinal disturbances (abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea), breast tenderness, mild to moderate ovarian enlargement, and ovarian cysts. In rare cases, severe OHSS has been reported that may be life-threatening. These situations are characterized by large ovarian cysts (prone to rupture), ascites, weight gain, often hydrothorax, and sometimes thromboembolic pneumonia. Temporal abnormalities in liver function tests have been reported associated with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), indicative of hepatic dysfunction, which may be accompanied by morphological changes on liver biopsy.

There are reports of ovarian tumors and other neoplasms of the reproductive system, both benign and malignant, in women who have undergone several infertility treatments. It has not been established whether treatment with gonadotropins increases the risk of developing tumors in women.

The drug gonadotropin should not be used to reduce body weight; human chorionic gonadotropin has no effect on fat metabolism, fat distribution or appetite.

For men and boys:

Patients with latent or overt heart failure, impaired renal function, arterial hypertension, epilepsy, bronchial asthma or migraine (or with a history of these conditions) should be under strict medical supervision, since exacerbation of the disease or relapse can sometimes be the result of increased production of androgens.

Should be used with caution in prepubertal boys to avoid premature closure of the epiphyses or precocious puberty; skeletal development should be regularly monitored

The drug is ineffective with a high content of follicle-stimulating hormone; unreasonably long-term use of the drug in cryptorchidism, especially if surgery is indicated, can lead to degeneration of the gonads.

Prolonged administration may lead to the formation of antibodies to the drug.

Carefully taken by people with kidney disease.

Use during pregnancy and during breastfeeding

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is contraindicated.

Features of the effect of the drug on the ability to drive a vehicle or other potentially dangerous mechanisms

During the period of treatment, it is necessary to refrain from driving vehicles and engaging in potentially hazardous activities that require an increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Overdose

Chorionic gonadotropin is characterized by extremely low toxicity.

Among women an overdose may cause ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).

Depending on the severity (based on clinical and laboratory symptoms), there are several types of OHSS:

severity

Symptoms

mild OHSS

Abdominal discomfort.

Pain in the abdomen of slight intensity.

The size of the ovaries is usually<8 см*.

moderate OHSS

Soreness of the mammary glands. Pain in the abdomen of moderate intensity.

Nausea and/or vomiting. Diarrhea. Ultrasound signs of ascites.

Slight to moderate enlargement of ovarian cysts.

The size of the ovaries is usually 8-12 cm*.

severe OHSS

Increase in body weight. In rare cases, thromboembolism.

Clinical signs of ascites (sometimes hydrothorax).

Oliguria. Hemoconcentration, hematocrit >45%. Hypoproteinemia.

Large ovarian cysts (prone to rupture).

The size of the ovaries is usually >12 cm*.

* Ovarian size may not correlate with severity of OHSS in assisted reproductive technology (ART) cycles due to follicular puncture.

Treatment for mild OHSS: bed rest; plentiful drink; observation of the patient's condition.

Treatment of moderate and severe forms of OHSS is carried out exclusively in a hospital, since constant monitoring of the state of the woman's body and appropriate treatment are necessary.

In men and boys possible development of gynecomastia; in boys, behavioral changes similar to those observed during the first phase of puberty are possible; degeneration of the sex glands (with unreasonably long-term use with cryptorchidism), atrophy of the seminiferous tubules (due to inhibition of the production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) as a result of stimulation of the production of androgens and estrogens); a decrease in the number of spermatozoa in the ejaculate (with the abuse of the drug in men).

Prolonged use of the drug may lead to increased side effects.
