I will list possible methods helping a pet and what medicine to treat constipation at home. And whether it is necessary to resort to operation.

Constipation is a difficult, systematically insufficient bowel movement (defecation), characterized by a small amount of feces, its increased hardness and dryness.

Reasons why a dog cannot go to the toilet for the most part

The main causes of constipation in an animal are:

Wrong (not high-quality) diet

Difficulties with stool arise when the animal is fed from a human table.

In the event that the pet receives less coarse fibers (fiber), and eats mainly meat, intestinal motility worsens.

From proper nutrition many things depend, including the quantity and quality of emptying

As a consequence, stool with difficulty move through the intestines and are excreted.

The composition of industrial dog food includes the necessary proteins, fats, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins and minerals. The balance of all components helps to raise a pet strong and healthy.

Wrong drinking regimen

Insufficient water intake makes feces dry and hard. This complicates the process of bowel movement and even small dog whines and cannot poop. Sometimes without special assistance, makes it impossible.

Please note that the pet should always have a bowl of clean drinking water! The pet needs to be watered.

Sedentary lifestyle, short and rare walks

For each breed, a mandatory norm of physical activity is prescribed.

Insufficient physical activity leads to a weakening of the muscles of the whole body, including the intestines.

A sedentary lifestyle is one of the causes of constipation.

Binge eating

Dogs, for the most part, do not control their appetite and the amount of food they eat. How much food is available - so much will be eaten. Therefore, portions should be dosed according to the age and weight of the animal.

If the pet eats industrial feed, you must follow the dosage recommended by the manufacturer.

In case of feeding human food, it is advisable to consult with a specialist.

Eating small bones, especially birds

The bones break easily and clog the intestines. Large bones should be given raw.

Other reasons why the animal cannot go to the toilet may be serious illness dogs like:

  1. Neoplasms in the intestines abdominal cavity or perineum.
  2. Diseases of the prostate.
  3. Pain in the spine.
  4. Diseases of the nervous system.
  5. Blockage of the intestine by a foreign body.

X-ray, dog constipation after bones

Only a specialist can diagnose these diseases and prescribe treatment.

constipation symptoms

There are several signs of constipation in an animal:

  1. The pet tries to perform the act of defecation, but cannot. During attempts experiences pain. Often squeals.
  2. The animal does not empty its intestines for several days.
  3. The animal feels worse, appetite disappears, the pet looks lethargic and inactive.
  4. The abdomen increases in size and becomes tight.

These symptoms may also indicate the development of a serious illness.

Which requires proper diagnosis an experienced veterinarian and the appointment of special treatment.

Symptoms of constipation in a dog are simple - rare (less than 1 time per day) bowel movements

Treatment methods at home

If constipation in an animal is associated with malnutrition, small physical activity or violation drinking regime You can help your pet on your own. In addition to eliminating these factors, there are several options for solving the problem.

Enema

This procedure can be carried out at home. This will require the help of one person to hold the animal, a douche (sold in a pharmacy), clean cool water. It is possible to add glycerin or special oil solution, to improve peristalsis and lubricate the anus.

Enema has a large number of restrictions and contraindications. If there is no confidence in true reason constipation, the procedure is prohibited!

Enemas with medicines should only be prescribed by a veterinarian!

dog enema

The use of vaseline oil

This event is aimed at softening the feces and their speedy removal. Vaseline oil is sold in a pharmacy. It is safe for dogs.

It is not absorbed in the intestines and is completely excreted with feces.

How to use: Mix 1 teaspoon with food and feed to your pet. If the appetite is completely absent, it can be given through a syringe (without a needle!) into the dog's mouth. The procedure is carried out twice a day, until the end of constipation.

Massage for constipation

Light stroking movements in a clockwise direction in the abdomen can improve intestinal motility and stimulate the act of defecation.

Massage can be performed only in the absence of a pain symptom!

Diet

In the case when constipation is noticed in a pet, it is urgent to adjust the diet:

  • exclude bones and dry food ( we are talking not about industrial stern, but food from the human table);
  • exclude fatty and broths;
  • add 1-2 drops of vegetable oil to food;
  • dilute food with vegetables as much as possible (beets, carrots, pumpkin). You can stir with meat, but not with broth!
  • avoid pastries and milk.

Recovery normal operation intestines shown diet

Soap

Possible for constipation in dogs ordinary soap: toilet, children's, household. To do this, a piece of soap is cut into small pieces and inserted into the anus.

The alkaline soap composition irritates the intestinal walls and stimulates contractions, helping in the speedy emptying.

This measure should often not be resorted to, since manipulation carries the possibility of developing dysbacteriosis and corroding the intestinal walls.

Laxatives

Medications for treating constipation in dogs are aimed at stimulating bowel movements.

These include: guttalax, bisacodyl, etc.

Magnesia - effective drug with a laxative effect.

The action is to attract fluid into the intestines with further liquefaction of feces.

Constipation is one of the manifestations of serious disorders digestive system. Often this symptom is a manifestation of a serious disease requiring urgent professional veterinary diagnosis and treatment. Be attentive to your pets and do not put off a visit to the veterinarian.

In this article, I talked about constipation in dogs. She gave the main causes of the problem with the stool. Describe the symptoms of constipation. Listed ways to help a pet at home.

Violation of bowel movements in pets is a common occurrence. So, constipation in a dog occurs more often than at and there are many reasons for this. Determining fecal stasis in a pet is quite simple. As for treatment, things are a little more complicated here.

Each breed of dog has its own weak point, because of which there is a need to visit the veterinarian from time to time. Some often suffer from stomach problems, others have a weak liver or kidneys, others are worried about the pancreas, etc. All this increases the risk of developing intestinal dysfunction and improper feeding.

The most dangerous are intestinal stagnation that has arisen as a symptom of one of these diseases:

Young dogs often suffer from lack of bowel movements due to overeating. Therefore, it is important to set a norm for your pet and try not to exceed it, even if he asks for more. Also, constipation develops against the background of an unbalanced diet with insufficient fiber.

Most often, older individuals suffer from stool problems. This is especially true for dogs that lead an inactive lifestyle.

Also, the causes of the appearance of such an ailment as constipation include:

  • feeding with dry food;
  • high consumption of bones;
  • adding fatty broth to porridge;
  • lack of water in the bowl.

In addition to the above, the absence of a bowel movement in a dog occurs due to intestinal obstruction. provoke this pathology may be a solid object or accumulation swallowed by an animal a large number wool (found in fluffy dogs). Often dog gets constipated after bones, especially chicken (they should not be given to a pet at all).

Recognizing constipation is easy

In the absence of any problems with the intestines, the dog defecates twice a day. Owners may suspect constipation in a pet by the absence of defecation for more than a day. If the animal has never gone to the toilet during the day, then this is a wake-up call that it is time to visit the veterinarian.

Also has the following:

  • making efforts when trying to defecate;
  • attempts to go to the toilet end in nothing;
  • pain during emptying (the dog may whine);
  • too dry feces;
  • a small amount of abnormally shaped feces;
  • the presence of hairballs in the stool.

In animals with a prolonged absence of stool, the urge to defecate becomes more frequent. The dog often asks to go outside, whines and trembles, but in the end, after another attempt to defecate, the feces still do not come out. At the same time, the pet’s stomach, when probed, is unnaturally hard, which is explained by bloating due to the accumulation of gases.

How to help your pet

If constipation is noticed in dogs, treatment should be started as soon as possible. If the feces come out partially and the animal feels satisfactory, then you can try to cope with the problem yourself.

With drugs that activate the work of peristalsis and intestines, dogs are allowed the following drugs:

  1. Duphalac.
  2. Sodium Picosulfate.
  3. Lactusan.

From drug treatment your pet in the complete absence of defecation is better to abstain. In this case, the dog must be taken to the veterinarian for complete examination. If some ailment or a swallowed object became the cause of constipation, then giving the animal a laxative can harm it even more.

Also, do not self-medicate if constipation is accompanied anxious behavior, drowsiness, vomiting, refusal of food and soreness of the abdomen. The dog needs to run a series laboratory research, make an x-ray and ultrasound of the abdominal cavity.

First aid at home: vaseline oil

Constipation in a dog what to do at home conditions to alleviate the condition of the pet and restore the stool? If you are sure that the constipation in the dog is due to malnutrition, for therapeutic purposes, you can give her a small amount of petroleum jelly.

Vaseline oil for constipation in dogs helps to soften the accumulated feces in the intestines and resume peristalsis. In addition, this substance is absolutely safe for dogs, as it is not absorbed into the body and is excreted along with the feces.

You need to give oil inside, putting it in your pet's favorite treat. It should be warm, and the portions should be small: half a teaspoon for small dogs, a teaspoon for medium and one and a half large. The recommended dosage is given twice a day, until the stool is restored.

If the animal has no appetite, then the remedy can be given with a syringe, after removing the needle from it.

Can a dog do an enema for constipation?

Constipation in a dog, what to do if there is no stool for more than a day? An enema is a great way to help your pet defecate. It provides one hundred percent release of the intestines from the accumulated feces.

However dog enema for constipation recommended only in case of delayed stool of a functional nature. If problematic defecation is associated with the presence of a pet serious illness or pathological education in the intestines, then the enema can harm. Therefore, before starting such treatment, you need to consult a veterinarian.

The enema solution should be warm. For best effect add to it Vaseline oil. The pear should be inserted into the rectum effortlessly, gently and slowly. If the liquid does not pass and immediately flows out, then the procedure should not be continued. This may indicate intestinal obstruction.

Pay attention to your dog's diet

Noticing the dog signs of constipation, it must be immediately transferred to another diet. It is important to completely eliminate dry food and bones. No need to dilute porridge with fatty broth. To improve the functioning of peristalsis, once a day, you can add 1-2 drops of vegetable or olive oil to food.

If stagnation in the intestines of a pet is often observed, then its nutrition must be balanced and diversified. The following foods will help improve bowel function:

Vegetables can be given both boiled and raw. Prunes are also useful, but feeding such a treat to a dog is not easy. It can be finely chopped, added to the main food of the animal 2-3 times a week.

Completely eliminated from the diet fatty foods. Also at common problems Dogs should not be fed much meat with their stool. Avoid whole milk and fresh baked goods. And even more so, do not give your pet what you eat yourself. His feeding should be separate.

If your puppy is constipated

The cause of constipation in puppies is most often overeating, since at this age dogs usually do not know the measure and eat until they see the bottom of the bowl. Therefore, at the first problems with bowel movements, you need to reconsider the number of feedings of a small pet and reduce portions.

If there is no bowel movement, the animal should be taken to the veterinarian. With a partial exit of feces, the puppy can be helped to restore the stool by the following methods:

  • give half a teaspoon of vaseline oil;
  • do a tummy massage
  • resort to microclysters.
  • Postoperative constipation in dogs

intestinal obstruction after surgical intervention a fairly common occurrence. And this applies not only to people, but also to dogs.

If your dog develops symptoms of constipation after surgery, it should be taken to the veterinarian immediately. Otherwise, the animal may undergo another surgical intervention.

Causes of constipation in dogs postoperative period are antibiotics and other medicines that are given to the pet for a better and faster recovery. Therefore, it is important to maintain a healthy microflora of the animal until the end of therapy.

The pet's diet during this period should consist exclusively of light foods. It will be useful to use kefir with the addition of bran.

Often recurring and prevention are identical. To prevent reappearance fecal stasis, you need to follow simple rules and recommendations:

  • monitor the health of the pet;
  • treat ailments in a timely manner;
  • adjust nutrition;
  • exclude products that negatively affect the dog's intestines;
  • provide Free access to drinking water;
  • walk more often.

So that constipation does not go into chronic form, their treatment should be started immediately, without waiting for the pathology to pass on its own. And it is best to trust the therapy of this problem to a specialist.

Hello, friends. very important in the first days of life. Consider the main points of caring for newborn puppies. Here you have puppies. Their bunch is growing in size right before our eyes. The puppies have become active, crawling around the box and actively sucking their mother. Their coat has become shiny, they have grown stronger and grow rapidly. But inexperienced owners along the way can have a lot of questions and worries. Today I will try to cover the main points of caring for newborn puppies.

(The photo of the puppy is 5 days old. compare with the photo in the article about childbirth and pregnancy. how has he changed)

In the last article, we talked about dog pregnancy and how to take. Let's be consistent and today we'll talk about what should be the care of newborn puppies and their mother.
We will consider the main points on the example of puppies yorkshire terrier. Since I am engaged in this particular breed, it will be much easier to explain what is what with this particular breed.
In the first week, your addition grows literally by leaps and bounds. A puppy gains about 100 grams of weight in the first 7 days of life. In general, normal daily weight gain should be 15 grams on average. To do this, you need to weigh each puppy immediately after birth, and then every day, once a day, weigh each puppy. This is necessary for control - if the puppy is gaining less than 10 grams per day, you need to pay special attention to him. Perhaps this puppy is weaker and less nimble than his brothers and sisters, and he simply does not have enough milk. Such a puppy should be hung separately on the boobs several times a day and make sure that other puppies do not push him away from the chest. If all the puppies are not gaining weight well, the problem may lie in the lack of milk from the mother. Strengthen the nutrition of the bitch, add calories to her diet. The first 10 days after giving birth, I do not recommend giving the bitch meat, in order to avoid postpartum complications. Well-soaked dry food, which the bitch ate during pregnancy, is best suited. You can also add to your diet buckwheat porridge in milk, a little non-fat cottage cheese or boiled egg. I don't recommend giving rice porridge Puppies can get tummy ache and have problems with defecation.

- be careful!

When your puppies squeak for the first few days, this is normal. However, you need to feel the difference between a child's squeak and a squeak of pain. If the puppies (and especially one of them) squeak for a long time and persistently, this is a signal that something is wrong with him. It usually happens at night. The puppy squeaks, crawls on the box, does not cling to the boob and is very worried. So he's in pain. Usually in such early age this is due to the fact that he cannot go to the toilet. Puppies at this age still cannot pee or poop themselves, the bitch must lick the puppy's tummy and under his tail, so that the reflex works and defecation occurs. However, the dog sometimes forgets or simply does not want to lick the puppy in right place. Then you need to help her. You can smear under the puppy's tail a little bit butter. Then the dog will begin to lick the puppy and he will poop. Or take a wet cotton swab yourself and massage the puppy's tummy and under the tail. If this does not help, the puppy needs to be given an enema. To do this, take an ordinary 2-cc syringe, draw warm boiled water, lubricate the nose with baby cream and gently insert the syringe into anus puppy. After such an enema in 2 ml of warm water, the puppy will definitely poop and should calm down after a while.

In all my practice, I have not seen other problems with puppies of a week of age. It was just poor weight gain and a stomach ache and constipation. Which basically happened after the bitch ate just rice porridge. Therefore, I recommend not to experiment with dog food while feeding puppies.

Further. Puppies are 5 days old. According to the breed standard hind legs A Yorkie should have 4 fingers. But many Yorkie puppies are born with what are called dewclaws. This is the 5th finger inside paws. Sometimes they are even doubled. They must be removed. In the article, of course, it is impossible to show how to do it correctly. But the bottom line is this - you need to take sharp scissors, office scissors are best, stretch the skin on the foot a little reverse side and quickly cut off the puppy's finger. After that, the wound must be cauterized with potassium permanganate to stop the bleeding. I usually do this procedure in 5 days. Puppies at this age do not yet feel pain as much, and if this procedure is performed correctly, many of them will not even utter a peep.
Your dog needs to eat properly and well while feeding newborn puppies. Add calcium to her diet. I recommend giving the dog an injection of calcium glucanate 2 ml subcutaneously every night for the first 5 days. Again, if you get used to it, the dog does not even feel this injection. It's all about technique and practice.
So today we talked about the main points caring for newborn puppies. Let's recap the main points.
1. Don't Experiment with dog food during the feeding period. Give her her usual food. I do not recommend giving rice porridge. Give your dog milk.
2. Listen for the squeak puppies. A prolonged strained squeak indicates a problem. Help him go to the toilet, if necessary, put an enema.
3. Control your weight gain each puppy daily, the first 7 days. Puppies that are not gaining weight should be hooked separately to the chest.
4. At the age of 5 days, dewclaws should be removed in puppies. For the first time, it is better to invite an experienced person for this case.
5. To avoid complications after childbirth- eclampsia, do not give the bitch the first 10 days after giving birth to meat, and give an injection of calcium gluconate for several days in a row.

In the following articles, I will cover issues related to the growth and development of puppies along the way. If someone has any questions on today's topic - ask them through the form feedback or in the comments to the article. I will definitely answer you.
Health to you and your pets.

Almost every dog owner knows what constipation is. At least once in his life he had to deal with this problem with his pet. In this article, we will talk about the main causes and what to do to alleviate the condition of the dog.

Causes

This pathology cannot be called an independent disease, rather, it is a sign of other diseases, most often gastrointestinal. But diseases of the digestive system are not the only ones that can be accompanied by constipation.

Few people know that difficult defecation occurs on the basis of prostatitis, proctitis, or gluing of hair around the anus.

Often the cause of constipation is the lack of exercise, improper feeding or starvation. After long-term treatment astringent diarrhea, the dog may also have difficulty walking "big".

Any febrile condition will necessarily be accompanied by compaction of feces as a result of dehydration.

Another group of cause-and-effect relationships leading to constipation is intestinal obstruction, which occurs against the background of intestinal volvulus or infringement during hernias.

constipation symptoms

How do you know if a dog is constipated? According to statistics healthy dog decorative breed goes to the toilet at least twice a day. If the number of emptyings decreases to once a day or stops altogether, then this is an occasion to think about whether everything is in order with the pet.

But not in all cases it is worth panicking: defecation depends on the age of the animal, its size, physiological and individual characteristics.

To begin with, pay attention to general state, the behavior of the pet, as well as the nature of the feces. If the dog is cheerful and cheerful, eats well, the feces are of a homogeneous doughy consistency without foreign impurities (blood, foam, undigested feed etc.), do not have musty or putrid smell, then with treatment and treatment to the veterinarian you can wait.

Usually, with constipation, the dog makes several unsuccessful attempts to go to the toilet during the day, greatly straining the walls of the abdomen. The pet is in pain and discomfort, which is easy to understand by its plaintive squealing.

Constipation for digestive problems

Gastritis

So, constipation can be a sign of hyperacid inflammation of the gastric mucosa. With this pathology, the feces are compacted, have dark color and are often covered with mucus; the temperature rises slightly; tongue coated gray coating. Prolonged absence defecation leads to severe intoxication and disruption of the heart.

Flatulence

accumulation of gases in the intestines and difficulty in their release. At the beginning of the disease, diarrhea is observed with frequent discharge of flatus, but in the future, the excretion of feces completely stops. In advanced cases, a rupture of the intestinal tube is possible.

Chemostasis

compaction of feces in the iliac and duodenum is more common in older dogs. Naturally, the symptom will be constipation or complete absence defecation, which is additionally accompanied by anxiety, shortness of breath, increased heart rate, and sometimes vomiting. On palpation of the abdomen on the right, a small “sausage” of a dense consistency is felt.

Chemostasis occurs against the background of overfeeding or feeding for a long time with bones, ligaments and cartilage. Assuming factors are a sedentary lifestyle, a lack of minerals in the diet, and insufficient watering of the dog.

Coprostasis

Its symptoms are similar to the previous disease, but stagnation is observed in the large intestine. Most often, this type of constipation occurs as a result of excess bones in the diet.

But this is not the only cause of constipation with coprostasis. For example, in aged males with prostatitis, the rectum is compressed by an enlarged prostate gland, making it difficult to pass feces. As a result, stagnant feces are dehydrated, forming a dense lump, which finally clogs the intestines.

Bowel obstruction

Characterized by obstruction of the intestines by stones, bones, calculi, helminths, or accidentally swallowed foreign bodies. The prerequisites are long-term feeding with the same food, metabolic disorders. At easy course diseases, in addition to constipation, there is slight anxiety, but as the pathology develops, colic appears, gas formation increases. IN rare cases there will be a fever.

Liver disease

Along with characteristic features observed in hepatitis (jaundice of mucous membranes and skin, fever, loss of appetite, thirst, discoloration of urine, etc.), there may be constipation, but this is not obligatory symptom liver pathology.

Everything is good in moderation: dogs often get constipated from excess bones.

Problems in disease states

Constipation can be after surgery, and with some somatic diseases. By itself, anesthesia relaxes not only the striated muscles of the body, but also the smooth muscles of the intestine. Naturally, this leads to a decrease in peristalsis and even paresis of the pelvic organs. It is not difficult to guess that a poorly functioning intestine will lead to stagnation of feces.

That is why everything veterinarians prescribed before and after surgery special diet which helps to quickly restore and support the work of the digestive tract.

Usually, easily digestible liquid or slimy food is used for feeding in the form of soups, cereals, etc. It is important to feed in small portions.

A similar problem with stool retention occurs with some spinal injuries, when the innervation of the internal organs is disturbed.

Treatment

In some cases, the owner himself can help get rid of problems with the stool to the pet. To begin with, they find the cause that led to this condition and eliminate it.

For example, if feeding bones has led to a delay in fecal masses, then they are removed from the diet. The dog is put on a diet with a predominance of food, rich in fiber. Additionally, the pet is prescribed laxatives: saline solutions, vegetable or liquid paraffin, and also give antispasmodics to reduce pain syndrome. It is important to follow the regime: the dog is fed often, but in small portions.

Enema

In more severe cases have to resort to an enema. For a small dog, an ordinary rubber douche is quite enough for washing the intestines.

How to give an enema to a dog? It is more convenient to work together: one securely fixes the dog, and the other inserts the pear cannula into the anus and slowly releases the solution. For a couple of minutes, the anus is clamped with fingers so that the feces can soften a little. It is important to carry out all manipulations with rubber gloves.

As an enema, you can use plain tap water heated to a temperature of 30 C, a warm decoction of chamomile or a weak saline solution, for example, based on magnesium.

It is not recommended to do enemas if volvulus is suspected, since it is possible to increase peristalsis and further worsen the condition. Such constipation is treated surgically. Also, the operation is resorted to when difficult cases chymostasis when conservative treatment does not lead to positive results.

In the treatment of constipation after surgery, a diet is dispensed with. Dry food is excluded, transferring the animal to dietary canned food. At natural feeding in the early days they give broth, gradually introducing into the diet dairy products, liquid cereals, and then minced meat.

In the treatment of constipation, as well as in their prevention, be sure to monitor the presence in the bowl clean water. It must be permanently and freely available.

In the case when the listed first aid methods do not help, and the dog only gets worse, it is urgent to show the pet to a specialist. And one more warning: do not do everything at once to the dog, stop at one treatment option: either an enema or oil inside - excessive enterprise does not lead to good.

Prevention of constipation

The easiest way to treat constipation is to prevent it. We will tell you what to do so that you never encounter it.

  1. Follow the rules and regimen of feeding. Eating heavy meals, bones once a day is one of the reasons that can provoke intestinal blockage.
  2. Avoid puffy foods in the diet.
  3. Provide unhindered access to water at any time of the day.
  4. Periodically introduce mineral supplements into the dog's diet.
  5. Walk your pet more often, but not on full stomach - active movement helps the intestines work better.
  6. Conduct periodic deworming, do not forget about preventive vaccination.

Congratulations, you are the proud owner of your new puppy, this cute and funny ball of wool! Now the hardest part begins: how to take care of him? If you've taken care of a dog before, you might think you already know everything there is to know, however, caring for newborn puppies is a little different than caring for adults. You must be prepared for various challenges to help your new friend get through the first few weeks of his life.

Here are 5 tips to help both of you get through the tough times and get on this path in a fun and healthy way.

1. Feeding a newborn puppy

As with newborn children, mother's milk contains everything your puppy needs to survive and thrive during the first four weeks of life. However, if the puppy's mother is unable to feed it, you should use a dog milk replacer that has been specially formulated for newborns. It is very important to use the correct substitute because some other milk substitutes, including cow's milk, can cause diarrhea. Check with your veterinarian as soon as possible about how to properly feed your newborn puppy, as you can hurt him if you do it incorrectly.

You should ensure that your puppy is fed every few hours for the first few weeks. After about a month, you can begin to switch to solid foods by adding water and milk to the dry kibbles and blending them into a porridge. Then you can gradually reduce the amount of water and milk, and, after about a month (at 7-8 weeks), you can start feeding the puppy. regular food, but only when he himself is able to eat it.

2. Warming up

If you do not provide newborn puppies with warmth, they can quickly die from the cold. Their mother can provide warmth just by lying next to them, but if she's not there, you'll need to come up with a replacement. Blankets and heating pads are a good option, but, as always, do everything carefully and make sure that the puppies do not get burned or too hot. Try to get specific advice by talking to your veterinarian.

3. Help the puppy go to the toilet

4. First visit to the vet

A big part of caring for a newborn puppy is providing him with help when he needs it. And, as mentioned, your veterinarian can help you learn how to properly feed and help your puppy go to the toilet. There are several signs when you may need immediate professional help. If your puppy is coughing, vomiting, crying non-stop, nasal discharge, unable to go to the toilet with assistance, having diarrhea, or simply not eating, you should contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.

However, if the puppies look healthy, most veterinarians do not need to see them until they are six weeks old. At this point, you can start giving him his first shots and deworming.

5. Training and socialization

You can start to train your puppy to his place to sleep, like a basket, but it won't do you much good until he is 7 or 8 weeks old, when he can eat solid food and go to the toilet on his own. Start training in as friendly a setting as possible, offering them treats or toys as he enters the basket, and only close him there for a few minutes at a time.

Other types of training and socialization can begin during the first few weeks when you start petting and calling him to you. If you want to tie a puppy to you, you must let him get used to your smell, voice and touch.

Once the puppy reaches 8 weeks old, it's a good idea to introduce him to other people. You need to start the socialization of the puppy gradually and very carefully, as all puppies go through the stage " strong fear". Any negative experience during this time can become very sensitive and memorable. Be alert and watch the puppy at all times, focusing on his signals.
