Release form of the medicinal product. Film-coated tablets.

Pharmacotherapeutic group.

Psychostimulants and nootropics.

ATS code N 06 V X03.

Action of the medicine. Pharmacodynamics. Active component Nootropil is piracetam, a cyclic derivative gamma-aminobutyric acid.

Piracetam is a nootropic that acts on the brain to improve cognitive processes such as learning, memory, attention, and mental performance. Nootropil affects the central nervous system in different ways: changing the speed of spread of excitation in the brain, improving metabolic processes in nerve cells, improving microcirculation, affecting the rheological characteristics of the blood and without producing a vasodilator effect.

Improves connections between the cerebral hemispheres and synaptic conduction in neocortical structures.

Piracetam inhibits platelet aggregation and restores the elasticity of the erythrocyte membrane, reduces erythrocyte adhesion. At a dose of 9.6 g, it reduces the level of fibrinogen and von Willibrand factors by 30-40% and prolongs bleeding time.

Piracetam produces a protective and restorative effect in cases of impaired brain function due to hypoxia and intoxication.

Piracetam reduces the severity and duration of vestibular nystagmus.

Pharmacokinetics.

After taking the drug orally, piracetam is quickly and almost completely absorbed, peak concentrations are reached 1 hour after administration. The bioavailability of the drug is approximately 100% after taking a single dose of 2 g. The volume of distribution of piracetam is about 0.6 l/kg. The half-life of the drug from blood plasma is 4-5 hours and 8.5 hours from cerebrospinal fluid, which is extended when renal failure. Does not bind to blood plasma proteins and is not metabolized in the body. 80-100% of piracetam is excreted unchanged by the kidneys through renal filtration. The renal clearance of piracetam in healthy volunteers is 86 ml/min.

The pharmacokinetics of piracetam does not change in patients with liver failure.

Piracetam penetrates the blood-brain and placental barriers and membranes that are used in hemodialysis. In animal studies, piracetam selectively accumulates in the tissues of the cerebral cortex, mainly in the frontal, parietal and occipital lobes, in the cerebellum and basal ganglia.

Indications for use.

Symptomatic treatment of psychoorganic syndrome in elderly patients with memory loss, dizziness, decreased concentration and general activity, mood swings, behavioral disorder, impaired passages, as well as patients who have senile dementia of the Alzheimer's type.

Treatment of the consequences of stroke (chronic stage ischemic stroke), such as speech impairment, impairment emotional sphere, to increase mobility and mental activity.

Chronic alcoholism – for the treatment of psychoorganic and withdrawal syndromes.

Treatment of dizziness and related balance disorders, with the exception of dizziness of vasomotor and mental origin.

Included complex therapy low learning ability in children with psychoorganic syndrome.

For the treatment of cortical myoclonus both in mono- and complex therapy.

In the complex therapy of sickle cell anemia.

Method of use and dose.

Use internally. Daily dose – 30-160 mg/kg, frequency of administration – 2-4 times a day. Internally prescribed during meals or on an empty stomach; Nootropil tablets should be taken with liquid (water, juice).

At symptomatic treatment for chronic psychoorganic syndrome, depending on the severity of symptoms, 1.2 - 2.4 g are prescribed, and during the first week - 4.8 g per day.

When treating the consequences of a stroke (chronic stage), 4.8 g per day is prescribed.

When treating perception difficulties for people with brain injuries, the initial dose is 9-12 g per day, maintenance - 2.4 g per day. Treatment continues for at least 3 weeks.

With alcoholic withdrawal syndrome– 12 g per day. Maintenance dose – 2.4 g per day.

Treatment of dizziness and related imbalances 2.4 – 4.8 g per day.

Children over 7 years of age are prescribed 3.3 g per day to correct reduced learning ability. Treatment continues throughout the academic year.

For cortical myoclonus, treatment begins with 7.2 g per day, every 3-4 days the dose is increased by 4.8 g per day until maximum dose 24 g per day. Treatment continues throughout the entire period of the disease. Every 6 months they try to reduce the dose or stop the drug, to prevent an attack, gradually reducing the dose by 1.2 g every 2 days. For lack of effect or in case of insignificant therapeutic effect treatment is suspended.

For sickle cell anemia, the daily prophylactic dose is 160 mg/kg body weight, divided into 4 particle levels.

Daily doses for children:

from 1 to 3 years – 400 mg per day;

from 3 to 7 years – 400 – 800 mg per day;

from 7 to 12 years – 400 – 2000 mg per day;

from 12 to 16 years – 800 – 2400 mg per day.

Dosage for patients with impaired renal function. Since Nootropil is excreted from the body by the kidneys, caution should be exercised when treating patients with renal failure according to the treatment regimen given below.

No dose adjustment is necessary for patients with impaired liver function.

Side effect.

Side effects occur more often in elderly patients who receive doses above 2.4 g per day. In most cases, it is possible to achieve regression of such symptoms by reducing the dose of the drug. There are isolated messages about side effects from the outside gastrointestinal tract such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal and stomach pain; nervous system- dizziness, headache, ataxia, imbalance, exacerbation of epilepsy, insomnia; from the psyche - excitement, anxiety, irritability, hallucinations, increased sexuality, rarely - drowsiness and depression; from the outside skin– dermatitis, itching, rash, swelling.

Contraindications. Individual intolerance to piracetam or pirolidone derivatives, as well as other components of the drug.

Acute violation cerebral circulation(hemorrhagic stroke).

Terminal stage renal failure (with creatinine clearance less than 20 ml/minutes).

Childhood up to 1 year.

Overdose.

When taking 75 g of piracetam internally, dyspeptic symptoms such as bloody diarrhea and abdominal pain were noted. No other symptoms of piracetam overdose were noted.

Immediately after a significant oral overdose, the stomach may be lavaged or vomiting may be induced. Treatment is symptomatic, which may include hemodialysis. There is no specific antidote. The effectiveness of hemodialysis is 50–60% of piracetam.

Features of use.

Due to the effect of piracetam on platelet aggregation, caution is required when prescribing the drug to patients with impaired hemostasis, during major surgical operations or patients with symptoms of severe bleeding. When treating patients with cortical myoclonus, abrupt interruption of treatment, which may lead to renewed seizures, should be avoided.

During long-term therapy in elderly patients, regular monitoring of renal function parameters is recommended; if necessary, dose adjustment is carried out depending on the results of a creatinine clearance study.

Considering possible side effects, the patient should be careful when working with machinery and driving a car.

Penetrates through the filter membranes of hemodialysis machines.

Pregnancy and lactation. Animal studies have not shown negative action on the embryo and its development, including in the postnatal period; Piracetam did not change the course of pregnancy and childbirth.

There is no experience of using the drug to treat pregnant women. Piracetam penetrates the placental barrier and into breast milk. The concentration of the drug in newborns reaches 70-90% of its concentration in the mother’s blood. Except in special circumstances, Nootropil cannot be prescribed during pregnancy. You should refrain from breastfeeding during treatment with the drug.

Interaction with other drugs. At joint use with thyroid hormones (T3+T4), increased irritability, disorientation and sleep disturbance are possible. There were no interactions with clonazepam, phenytoin, phenobarbital, or sodium valproate.

High doses (9.6 g per day) of piracetam increased the effectiveness of acenocoumarol in patients with venous thrombosis: There was a significant decrease in platelet aggregation, fibrinogen levels, Villibran factors, blood and plasma viscosity.

The possibility of changing the pharmacodynamics of piracetam under the influence of other drugs is low, since 90% of the drug is excreted unchanged in the urine.

In vitro, piracetam does not suppress cytochrome P 450 isoforms CYP1A2, 2B6, 2C8, 2C9, 2C19, 2D6, 2E1 and 4A9/11 at concentrations of 142, 426, 1422 μg/ml. At a concentration of 1422 μg/ml, slight inhibition of CYP2A6 (21%) and 3A4/5 (11%) was noted. However, the Ki level of these two CYP isomers is sufficient when it exceeds 1422 μg/ml. Therefore, metabolic interaction with drugs that can be biotransformed by these enzymes is unlikely.

Taking piracetam at a dose of 20 mg per day did not change the peak and curve of the concentration of antiepileptic drugs in the blood serum (carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, valproate) in patients with epilepsy.

Concomitant use of the drug and alcohol consumption did not affect the level of piracetam serum concentration, and the serum alcohol concentration did not change when taking 1.6 g of piracetam.

Storage conditions and periods.

Store in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of the reach of children.

Shelf life - 4 years.

The drug Nootropil is a nootropic drug. If you look at the literal translation, this name can be translated as “brain nutrition.”

Based on the name, it appears that this drug is used to improve mental performance, as well as to maintain brain activity at various kinds neuropsychic stress.

Nootropil is available in the form:

  • tablets with a dosage of 800 and 1200 mg;
  • capsules with a dosage of 400 mg;
  • syrup, intended for use by small patients;
  • solution for injection.

Worth knowing - pharmaceutical properties of the drug

Piracetam, which is the active ingredient of Nootropil, promotes:

  • increasing the speed of transmission of nerve impulses between brain cells;
  • supplying nerve cells with nutrients;
  • cerebral circulation;
  • restoration of damaged nerve cells.

When taking the drug orally, it enters the intestines, where it is absorbed. Almost 100% active ingredient enters the blood. 30 minutes after administration, its maximum is observed in the blood plasma, and after 3-7 hours, the drug is concentrated in the cerebrospinal fluid.

Thus, it enters the cerebral cortex, where it begins to accumulate. After 24-30 hours active substance is finally eliminated from the human body through the kidneys. Taking the drug has no effect on metabolic processes that occur in the body.

Studies have shown that the drug has virtually no side effects and does not affect the patient's well-being. Therefore Nootropil has high rating among analogues presented in Russian pharmaceutical market, in particular the same Piracetam.

Use in therapy

Indications for use of Nootropil:

  • psychoorganic syndrome, which manifests itself in the form of deterioration of memory and mental activity, negative changes in behavior are observed, sudden changes mood;
  • withdrawal syndrome in persons suffering from drug or alcohol addiction;
  • cortical myoclonus, by reducing sharp convulsive muscle contractions.

As part of complex therapy, this drug is prescribed for:

  • patient rehabilitation who have suffered all sorts of comatose states;
  • eliminating symptoms of delay(speech, mental or psychomotor) in the development of young children, regardless of their age;
  • sickle cell anemia.

A drug intended for oral administration Take before meals with plenty of water. Injections are recommended to be carried out in inpatient conditions. Taking the drug is indicated 2-4 times a day at equal intervals.

Safe dosages and dosage regimens

Based on the diagnosis and degree of the disease, Nootropil is usually prescribed in the following daily dosages:

In this case, you need to pay attention that the dose of the drug that can be taken during the day should not exceed 160 mg per 1 kg of the patient’s weight.

The duration of taking Nootropil depends on the diagnosis and degree of development of the disease, but cannot be less than 3 weeks of continuous use.

If after this period there are no changes in better side the patient is not observed or if his health worsens, the drug is stopped.

Peculiarities of prescription for different categories of patients

Studies have shown that, in general, Nootropil is well tolerated by patients. But in any case, when prescribing it, one should take into account all possible features of age and social groups to which this therapy is applied.

Children's category

For children, Nootropil in the form of syrup is often prescribed for various lesions or disturbances in the functioning of the central nervous system that could arise as a result birth injuries or an unfavorable course of pregnancy in a woman.

Nootropil also has a positive effect on memory, concentration, concentration, and eliminates nervous excitability and absent-mindedness. Good efficiency the drug has been demonstrated when administered to children with speech development disorders. The medicine is prescribed to children after 1 year.

Previously, it was not prescribed only due to the lack of studies with this age category of patients.

For patients aged 1 to 3 years, the drug is indicated in the form of syrup. After 3 years, Nootropil can be prescribed in tablet form. As a rule, the course of treatment continues throughout the entire academic year. This is the only way to achieve its maximum effectiveness.

Elderly patients

The peculiarities of use for elderly patients are due to the fact that with age a person’s blood circulation and metabolism deteriorate, as a result of which problems with memory and attention may appear.

The drug is usually prescribed for the development of... While elderly people are taking medication, they need regular monitoring of their kidney activity. Therefore, they need to take a urine test (clinical) every month.

Pregnancy and lactation

When studying the effect of Nootropil on the condition of women and children during pregnancy and lactation, no negative impacts. But, it is worth considering that the active substance Nootropil easily penetrates the placenta and, when entering the fetus’ body, has the same effect on it as on the woman herself.

Therefore, during this period it is better for a woman to refrain from taking this drug. As for nursing mothers, when prescribing them, the doctor, first of all, compares the risks and when prescribing a medicine, most often it is recommended to stop breastfeeding.

Other special groups

This remedy has shown good effectiveness in the treatment of withdrawal and psychoorganic syndromes in persons with alcohol addiction. or drug addiction. Therefore, it is widely used to restore nerve tissue.

A special advantage for this category of patients is that the use of the medicine is permissible for persons with liver damage, which is often observed in alcohol addicts.

Those people whose work requires increased attention should take the drug with caution, paying attention to possible side effects.

It should also be noted that abrupt cessation of taking Nootropil is unacceptable. And only a doctor can increase or decrease the dosage after studying the general picture of the disease.

Contraindications and side effects

Speaking about contraindications to taking this drug, it is worth noting that it is not prescribed for:

  • individual sensitivity or intolerance to piracetam;
  • diagnosed bleeding (external or internal);
  • blood clotting disorders;
  • renal failure;
  • depression and conditions associated with increased excitability or anxiety.

Side effects of Nootropil are extremely rare, but still possible:

  • circulatory disorders and the appearance of hemorrhages on the skin;
  • feeling of weakness and fatigue;
  • nervousness and state of excitement;
  • weight gain;
  • diarrhea, vomiting and abdominal pain;
  • the appearance of hallucinations;
  • urticaria or Quincke's edema;
  • increased sexual desire.

Most often, this effect of the drug on the body occurs in elderly patients who are prescribed high doses of Nootropil (more than 4.8 g per day). To eliminate side effects, it is enough to reduce daily consumption medicines.

Many years of research have proven that Nootropil has no toxic effect on human body and it is almost impossible to get poisoned by it. A single dose of 10 g per 1 kg of body weight will be lethal for a person.

If it was obviously accepted too high dose, then the patient needs to rinse the stomach as quickly as possible, take any absorbent (enterosgel, Activated carbon etc.) and provide drinking plenty of fluids, which will help remove piracetam from the body faster.

Interaction with other drugs

Even with simultaneous administration drug with other drugs, they will not react with each other.

This is due to the fact that its active substance does not disintegrate in the body, but is excreted from the body unchanged over time.

But despite this, those who take medications need to be careful thyroid gland or anticonvulsants.

It really works!

Having studied the reviews of doctors and patients, it can be noted that Nootropil is truly effective and safe, and better than many of its analogues, including Piracetam.

Recently I was admitted to the hospital... Well, the story is like many of our women - I began to feel unwell and dizzy. I didn’t pay attention to this and worked, as they say, until the last... When I got to the hospital, the first thing I was prescribed was Nootropil.

The first few days they gave injections. I felt much better. After that, they switched me to pills, which I then took for another month. The result amazed me - after a month my head began to think better than 20 years ago. I recommend Nootropil!

Maria

I am already a pensioner, but I still continue to improve myself. I recently signed up for a course in English. There I met a grandmother who was just as active as me. So she told me about the drug Nootropil.

I haven’t complained about my health before, I rarely go to the hospital, and besides vitamins, I haven’t bought anything at the pharmacy for a long time. And then I decided to take her advice and bought it. It turns out that it is recommended at my age for improvement brain activity, blood circulation in the brain, etc.

After the course of treatment, I did not recognize myself. I didn’t feel bad before, but now I feel like I’m 30 years younger. Energy appeared, efficiency increased.

Valentina Ivanovna

I work as a neurologist at a student clinic. And lately, students are increasingly turning to me to complain about chronic fatigue, problems with learning the material, etc.

Vera, neurologist

I would like to say a few words about the drug. This is an analogue of Piracetam, but many times more effective. Just a year ago, I began prescribing Nootropil to my patients instead of Piracetam. This is a new generation drug, it is better purified and in a year I have not yet heard complaints about it, unlike its analogues.

Note! During pregnancy, the drug is prescribed only if vital necessity, because active substance penetrates the hematoplacental barrier. If there is no such need, Nootropil is not prescribed during pregnancy.

How to use?

The instructions for use indicate different dosage Nootropil, which differs depending on the disease. Adults are prescribed from 30 to 160 mg of the drug per kilogram of body weight, divided into two to four doses.

At orally Take the medicine with a sufficient amount of water or juice. Should be taken before or after meals.

How to take Nootropil depending on the disease?

  1. Cortical myoclonus: at the beginning of treatment 7.2 g – daily dose, then every three or four days it is increased by 4.8 g until daily dosage will not reach the 24 g mark, divided into several doses. Treatment continues until signs of the disease disappear. At the same time, every six months attempts are made to reduce the dosage: every two days it is reduced by one tablet, that is, 1.2 g, until complete withdrawal. It is important to remember that abruptly stopping Nootropil for this disease is strictly contraindicated.
  2. For psychoorganic syndrome, the medicine is prescribed in a dosage of 2.4 g (which is two tablets of 1200 mg) to 4.8 g (four tablets) per day, divided into several doses. The same dosage is used to treat dizziness as well as balance problems.
  3. To avoid consequences after suffering, the medicine is taken at a dose of 4.8 g per day.
  4. For comatose states: at the beginning, the dose (per day), depending on the severity of the condition, is prescribed from 9 to 12 g, then you need to switch to a maintenance dosage, which is 2.4 g. The course of treatment should last about three weeks.
  5. For sickle cell anemia, the dose during a crisis of the disease is 300 mg per kilogram of the patient’s body weight, administered intravenously. In this dosage, Nootropil is used for children after one year. The preventive daily dosage is 160 mg per kilogram, divided into four doses.
  6. If a child’s learning disability decreases, the drug is prescribed in a dosage of 3.6 g per day, which must be divided into two doses. Nootropil is taken throughout the school year.
  7. At chronic alcoholism after stopping alcohol, the medicine is prescribed in a dosage of 12 g per day, and then reduced to 2.4 g.

Important! When prescribing Nootropil to elderly people and patients with renal failure, it is important to adjust the dosage taking into account creatinine clearance. If creatinine clearance is below 20 ml per minute, this drug should not be used.

Side effects

When taking Nootropil, side effects may occur different systems and organs.

  1. Headaches, dizziness, insomnia, or, conversely, drowsiness may appear. There may be nervousness, anxiety, motor disinhibition and develop depression. Cases of hallucinations, confusion, and exacerbation have been observed.
  2. Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting.
  3. Possible weight gain.
  4. Appearance allergic reactions, dermatitis, urticaria.
  5. At intravenous administration the drug may cause arterial hypotension.

Most of these reactions went away after reducing the dose of Nootropil.

Overdose

In case of an overdose, the following symptoms may be observed: abdominal pain, bloody stools. In this case, you need to rinse the stomach and induce vomiting. Such symptoms may appear when taking more than 75 g of medication per day.

special instructions

It should be remembered that taking Nootropil may cause side effects. Therefore, you must be careful when driving a car and operating machinery.

This drug is prescribed with extreme caution to people with impaired hemostasis, if necessary surgical intervention, and patients with bleeding. These restrictions are associated with the effect of the active substance, that is, piracetam, on platelet aggregation.

Patients with cortical myoclonus should not suddenly stop taking the medication, as this may provoke new attacks.

In elderly patients with long-term use it is important to monitor renal function indicators. If there is a deviation from the norm, the dosage is adjusted.

Analogues

Nootropil has analogues. These include Piracetam, Phenotropil, Lucetam, Noocetam, Piratropil and others. Patients often ask: which is better – Piracetam or Nootropil? There is no definite answer, but before use you need to find out about the features of each drug.

Although Piracetam and Nootropil have one main active ingredient, their composition excipients in preparations in tablet form are different. Moreover, Nootropil is considered a more purified medicine. And the advantages of Piracetam include its low cost: the price of Nootropil is approximately three times higher. The mechanism of action of these drugs is identical.

Phenotropil is used in the treatment of diseases of the central nervous system, such as cerebrovascular insufficiency, asthenia and depression. The drug is an excellent analogue of Nootropil

Another well-known analogue of Nootropil is Phenotropil, its main difference is the main active ingredient. In Phenotropil it is N-carbamoylmethyl-4-phenyl-2-pyrrolidone. The advantage of this drug is the speed of action - the effect of treatment occurs much faster than when taking Nootropil. But due to the fact that the active ingredients are different, the effect on the body may differ. Therefore, do not replace one drug with another without consulting your doctor.

In this article you can find instructions for use medicinal product Nootropil.

Feedback from site visitors - consumers - is presented of this medicine, as well as the opinions of specialist doctors on the use of Nootropil in their practice. We kindly ask you to actively add your reviews about the drug: whether the medicine helped or did not help get rid of the disease, what complications and side effects were observed, perhaps not stated by the manufacturer in the annotation. Analogs of Nootropil if available structural analogues. Used to treat the consequences of stroke and brain disorders in adults, children, as well as during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Adequate and strictly controlled studies of the safety of Nootropil during pregnancy have not been conducted. The drug should not be prescribed during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary.

Piracetam penetrates the placental barrier and is excreted in breast milk. The concentration of piracetam in newborns reaches 70-90% of its concentration in the mother’s blood. If it is necessary to use the drug during lactation, you should refrain from breastfeeding.

Experimental studies on animals did not reveal any damaging effects on the embryo and its development, incl. in the postnatal period, as well as changes in the course of pregnancy and childbirth.

Contraindicated in children under 1 year of age in the form of an oral solution and in children under 3 years of age in the form of tablets and capsules.

Due to the effect of piracetam on platelet aggregation, it is recommended to prescribe the drug with caution to patients with impaired hemostasis, during major surgical operations or to patients with symptoms of severe bleeding. When treating patients with cortical myoclonus, abrupt interruption of treatment should be avoided, which may cause resumption of attacks.

During long-term therapy in elderly patients, regular monitoring of renal function parameters is recommended; if necessary, dose adjustment is carried out depending on the results of a creatinine clearance study.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery

Taking into account possible side effects, caution should be exercised when operating machinery or driving a vehicle.

There was no interaction of Nootropil with clonazepam, phenytoin, phenobarbital, or sodium valproate.

Piracetam in high doses (9.6 g per day) increased the effectiveness of acenocoumarol in patients with venous thrombosis: there was a greater decrease in platelet aggregation, fibrinogen levels, von Willebrand factors, blood and plasma viscosity than when acenocoumarol was prescribed alone.

The possibility of changing the pharmacodynamics of piracetam under the influence of other drugs is low, because 90% of its dose is excreted unchanged in the urine.

When taking piracetam at a dose of 20 mg per day, Cmax in the blood plasma and the nature of the pharmacokinetic curve of anticonvulsants (carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, valproic acid) in patients with epilepsy receiving constant doses of these drugs do not change.

When taking Nootropil at a dose of 1.6 g with alcohol, the serum concentrations of piracetam and ethanol (alcohol) did not change. Used to treat alcohol withdrawal syndrome.

How long to take nootropil

Nootropil. I decided to drink before the exams. how to take correctly? I have 800 and 1200 mg tablets

If you are in a hurry to evenly divide half the tablet into three more parts, then good. But in general, this is a bit complicated - even parts are unlikely to be obtained from this half.

Nootropil is taken as follows (standard regimen for improving memory and the condition of brain vessels): 1 tablet. 3 times a day for a month. Then a break and a month later another course.

The most common side effects are: increased appetite, drowsiness.

But! The effect after 3-4 weeks is excellent - memory really improves and mood too.

The only thing is that for young people, such as students, this may not be particularly noticeable. But for pensioners (in fact, the drug was originally designed for older people whose blood vessels are already bad and need to be brought into working condition) it works extremely well.

Therefore, students should start taking things like nootropil a month before the session.

Throw away the 1200 tablets immediately! This is a very large dose!

Standard dosage is 800.

For weakened people and children (and this happens.) - 400.

In what cases is the drug “Nootropil” taken: reviews and instructions for use

If there is a need to improve cognitive mental processes, which include the state of memory, the ability to assimilate new information and analysis, attention and the ability to concentrate, then in such cases the drug Nootropil is prescribed. Reviews about it and instructions for use will be provided to readers in this article.

How does Nootropil work?

This well-proven remedy has a beneficial effect on the state of the central nervous system in different ways. Piracetam, which is the main active ingredient of the drug, stabilizes metabolic processes in cells, increases the rate of transmission of excitation in nerve tissues, improves microcirculation (without causing vasodilation), and in the case of brain damage, provoked, in particular, by hypoxia or intoxication, has protective action. In addition, the drug has a beneficial effect on the connection between the hemispheres and, by improving cerebral blood flow, enhances mental performance.

Features of the drug's action

It is important that, judging by numerous reviews, this drug does not have a sedative or psychostimulating effect on the patient’s nervous system. It is also important to know that the effect of the drug “Nootropil”, reviews of which you can read in this article, does not occur instantly. The first results can be noticed only seven days after starting regular use of the medicine, and after fourteen days they will reach their maximum. As you probably understand, this feature is associated with the cumulative effect that the drug has. True, it disappears after the end of the dose.

In what cases is the drug "Nootropil" used?

Nootropil tablets and injections are a very popular remedy used by doctors for many pathologies. And, judging by the reviews of specialists and patients, this treatment has good results.

  • The drug is used in cases of psychoorganic syndrome, which is characteristic mainly of older people and manifests itself in the form of memory loss, dizziness, problems concentrating, decreased general activity, behavioral disorders, coordination and gait disorders;
  • it is also prescribed as part of complex treatment for Alzheimer's disease;
  • with its help, the consequences of ischemic stroke, expressed in speech and emotional disorders, are eliminated, and it is also used to increase the patient’s mental and motor activity;
  • This remedy is used in the treatment of chronic alcoholism and comatose states caused by intoxication or brain injury (during the recovery period);
  • As part of complex therapy, the drug "Nootropil" is administered for cortical myoclonus, low learning ability of children (including mental retardation and cerebral palsy), as well as in cases of sickle cell anemia.

Medicine "Nootropil": instructions

Reviews about the drug prove that to achieve the maximum effect from its use, you must follow the dosage prescribed by your doctor and take it systematically, and not occasionally. The described remedy is prescribed in the form of injections or tablets. The daily dose should not exceed 160 mg per kilogram of human weight. The minimum amount is 30 mg/kg. The product is taken orally two to four times a day with food or on an empty stomach and washed down with water or juice.

Dosage for different types of diseases

  • When treating symptoms of chronic psychoorganic syndrome, 1.2 to 2.4 g of the drug per day is prescribed (depending on the patient’s condition). In the first week of administration, the dose is 4.8 g.
  • Consequences of stroke - 4.8 g per day.
  • Comatose states - 9-12 g per day (initial dose) and 2.4 g per day (maintenance).
  • Withdrawal syndrome in alcoholism – 12 g per day. Maintenance therapy – 2.4 g.

The drug "Nootropil" for children

Reviews from experts claim that Nootropil is very effective in cases where a child does poorly at school, cannot concentrate and has difficulty remembering the material he has read. It is also prescribed to children suffering from cerebral palsy, children with consequences of birth trauma or developmental disorders in the prenatal period. This drug is useful for both patients with oligophrenia and patients with speech problems (alalia, anarthria, stuttering, delayed speech development, etc.). The drug is not prescribed to babies under one year of age.

Dosage of the drug for children of different ages

On average, a child is prescribed the described drug at a rate of 30 to 50 mg per kilogram of weight per day. This takes into account that:

  • up to five years, the dose is from 0.6 to 0.8 g per day;
  • from five to sixteen - from 1.2 to 1.8 g;
  • for poor academic performance, no more than 3.3 g per day is prescribed (this corresponds to eight milliliters of a 20% solution of the drug);
  • cortical myoclonus requires a dose of 7.2 g per day (the amount of medication is increased every other day by 4.5 g).

Are there any side effects from using the drug?

Judging by experts, Nootropil, reviews of which you can read here, is well tolerated and generally does not cause side effects. But in some cases, most often associated with an incorrect dosage of the drug (more than 5 g per day), the following manifestations may be observed: nervousness, motor disinhibition, depression, drowsiness, dizziness and headache. Possible imbalances, insomnia, anxiety, increased libido, tremors and weight gain are also possible.

Contraindications

The drug is not prescribed for psychomotor agitation and acute cerebrovascular accident. It can also be dangerous in case of kidney failure. This drug is contraindicated during pregnancy, and breastfeeding should be discontinued during lactation. Extreme caution should also be observed in patients with severe bleeding and major surgical interventions. Patients with epilepsy should take the medicine with caution, as it may cause an exacerbation of the disease. Remember that intolerance to the components of this drug leads to the development of allergic reactions.

special instructions

When taking the drug "Nootropil", reviews of which are provided to your attention, do not forget that elderly patients require regular monitoring of the condition of their kidneys, and patients with liver problems need monitoring of the functioning of this organ. Treatment of cortical myoclonus with this drug cannot be abruptly interrupted, as this may provoke a resumption of attacks. If the patient has sleep disturbances, the last dose of medication should be no later than three o'clock in the afternoon. It is also important for patients who drive a car or engage in activities that require concentration to exercise caution.

Signs of overdose

You are probably already convinced that Nootropil tablets and syrups require medical supervision over the course of the treatment process and, like other dosage forms, do not tolerate “amateur activity”. An overdose of these drugs is manifested by abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, as well as diarrhea mixed with blood. If such signs are present, it is necessary to induce vomiting and rinse the stomach, followed by symptomatic therapy. Be healthy!

Nootropil - instructions for use

Everyone who has ever thought about accelerating their own brain has heard of nootropil. Students, tired mothers and simply busy people who are often exhausted at work are those among whom this drug is especially popular. I, as a person who takes not only nootropil, but also other drugs, will tell you about all the pros and cons of nootropil. In addition to the points described in the instructions for use of nootropil, we will consider some nuances, knowledge about which was obtained experimentally.

Let's start with the fact that nootropil is just a trade name. In real life, the active substance, which makes up almost 100% of the weight of the tablet, is piracetam. Piracetam was discovered back in the 70s and was actively used by astronauts. With prolonged use, the drug increased the overall tone of the body and helped to be more resistant to external pressure. Since the side effects of this nootropic drug are very weak, it was decided not to hide such a convenient thing from the people. Since then, piracetam has been sold in several forms: cheap small tablets and capsules; more expensive large tablets with a brand name. The cost of the first is about 30 rubles per 21 grams of the drug. But the second one, produced in tablets of 800, 1200 and 2400 mg, costs a little more - up to 300 rubles per pack. However, this is more than enough for one cycle of administration.

Action of nootropil

Nootropil is one of the most harmless drugs that stimulate the nervous system. Its action is based on increasing the maximum throughput of the body. So, the brain begins to consume more glucose, blood circulation accelerates. Thus, we increase the limit of the body in general and the brain in particular. By the way, the drug is allowed to be used by athletes. What is most likely important for students is that the brain does not lack energy when working hard. And this is good.

Since nootropil is the first of its group of drugs, the action of the others is also based on the processes described above. It is worth noting that the product does not begin to act instantly: you begin to feel the first effect at least a week after continuous use, and by the end of the second week the effect reaches its peak. As you might have guessed, all thanks to the “cumulative effect”. He, in turn, disappears soon after stopping taking the pills.

Let's talk about how long you should take this drug, as well as dosages. The instructions for use of nootropil warn that the average dose should not exceed 2.6 grams per day. This is quite a lot for children, but for an adult who just wants to make his life a little easier - just right. Children are advised to limit themselves to 1-2 tablets of 800 mg in the morning and at lunch. But this is only for prevention. If you need a certain acceleration or treatment is prescribed, then the dosages will be slightly higher. Here's a table for you.

Do not forget that in this table the number of tablets is indicated with the expectation that you will use the smallest ones (800 mg each). Naturally, if you take a bunch of piracetam in 400-milligram capsules, you will have to drink more and, accordingly, if you buy large tablets, their quantity will be completely different. The instructions for using nootropil take into account the fact that some will want to use the tablets longer. This cannot be done. The maximum duration of use should be limited to two, maximum three weeks, after which a month (or more) break should be taken.

Side effects of nootropil

Nootropil in capsules is much less common. It’s easier to buy piracetam - it’s three times cheaper, and the capsules are also 400 mg.

But don't be alarmed. Everything is not as scary as it might seem. After all, we must also take into account the fact that some people are simply not inclined to take such drugs, so even a harmless 1.6 grams per day can make you feel bad. These cases are also included in the general statistics, which significantly increases the “average temperature in the hospital.” However, even if you find yourself in that small percentage of special people, there is no reason to worry: with a small dosage, the maximum that can happen is poor health. If you notice that something is going wrong, just stop taking the pills and that's it. Increased side effects are not observed immediately, so by stopping taking nootropil in time, you will protect yourself with small losses.

A separate conversation with those who suffer from kidney disease. The instructions for use of Nootropil prohibit such people from drinking, since it is excreted exclusively through the kidneys, and such doses create a large burden on them. In this regard, it is strongly recommended to consult a doctor, or better yet, abandon the idea of taking nootropics altogether. In general, do not forget to check the list of contraindications with your doctor. Pregnant women, for example, are also prohibited from using it. But it is sometimes used in the treatment of infants. So there are times when you can’t figure it out on your own.

“Instructions” from a nootropil lover

As I promised, I will tell you about this nootropic from my own lips. Since this is not the only drug from this series, I have something to compare with. In general, nootropil can be useful if you drink it correctly, get enough sleep and don’t sit at the computer all day. The fact that such products should be used exclusively before 3 o'clock in the afternoon is a widely known fact, and I advise you to follow this rule. If you decide to take 1.6 grams per day, take one tablet in the morning and one at lunch. If you drink them closer to the night, insomnia may begin. On the one hand, this is good, since there is no such thing as too much time, but you won’t be able to do anything useful during this time. The efficiency will be low. Therefore, I advise you to take doses in the evening only in extreme cases and only when you have taken the drug for at least a week.

Another point that the instructions for using nootropil do not mention is changing the dosage. If you take 5 grams of piracetam a day for 3 weeks or more, your kidneys will give up before your brain. I recommend starting with 1.6 grams per day and increasing the dose to 3 grams by the tenth day. And then start taking five at a time, if you want. At the initial stage, it seemed to me, it doesn’t matter whether you took 3 grams of tablets or more - you won’t notice the effect. But after some time, the dependence of your activity on the dosage of the tablets will be more noticeable.

For people who want to stay awake at night, I advise you to stretch out the intake of nootropil. The first appointment is at lunchtime, the second is at 4-5 pm, and the third is closer to 9 am. By supplementing this with regular coffee, you can easily stay productive until 4 pm. In this case, you will need to sleep no more than 6 hours, since all nootropics, without exception, reduce the need for sleep. At least when taken multiple times. Naturally, this is a complete violation of the instructions for use, so I do not bear any responsibility if you start doing this.

Finally, I’ll give you a few numbers and logically fit them into our material. The fact is that the instructions for using nootropil indicate 4-6 weeks as a treatment time. In this case, the dosage of the drug taken can reach 10 grams. You must understand that such actions and quantities of the drug are due to the fact that everything happens under the supervision of a doctor. And you won’t compare yourself to people who have suffered severe brain injury. Do not try to take the drug in such large quantities. 5 grams per day is the maximum that you can afford without worrying about the disastrous consequences.

Good day everyone! In my experience, the article indicates some horse doses. I have been taking Nootropil for about 15 years. Effects: speed of thinking and speech increases, sociability increases, eyes sparkle attractively... (And I’m a phlegmatic person, slow and shy). At first I took 400 mg per day, once in the morning, for several years. Now for more than a year I have been taking Nootropil syrup (which is 200 mg/1 ml) 1.5 ml (i.e. 300 mg) once in the morning, it’s enough (I’m 41 years old, weight 55 kg). While taking Nootropil you must consume a large number of liquids (I read it on some medical website), and this is true. If I forget to drink, by the evening I feel exhausted and tired... I looked here in search of an answer: is it possible to take Nootropil constantly, without interruption?

Within a couple of months, a feeling of mega-brain arises.

I am taking the drug for the second time. Last year, spring and autumn, 2 packs per course. And now it’s the same. My head is clearer, my memory is excellent. I sleep without problems all night. I'm learning a foreign language. Helps a lot. For this reason, in fact, I take the drug.

I'm on the third pack and my memory hasn't improved at all.

Mom took betaserc before, the dizziness temporarily stopped, after which dizziness was noted again, the doctor prescribed nootropil 1200 mg twice a day, is the doctor’s prescription correct?

nootronic, I know that you need to take a course every other day, but I don’t know about others

What are the dosages when taking nootropil in solution? In ml? (instructions are attached)

Oh, why did you put 2 tablets each, half a tablet from a 1200g pack is enough for me to stay awake all night and walk around in the morning irritated, but quite active. And this is if I drink half before one o'clock in the afternoon. And if it’s a whole one, then you can immediately say goodbye to sleep

Tell us more about the drug, did it help you?

Thank you very much for the information! The question is what are the maximum effects? Are there any effects on intelligence?

NOOTROPIL How often can you take these capsules - and what is the best dosage? 800 or more ml!! ? and in general what does it give us

symptomatic treatment of psychoorganic syndrome, in particular in elderly patients, accompanied by memory loss, dizziness, decreased concentration and decreased general activity, mood changes, behavioral disorders, gait disturbance, as well as in patients with Alzheimer's disease and senile dementia of the Alzheimer's type;

treatment of the consequences of ischemic stroke, such as speech impairment, emotional disturbance, decreased motor and mental activity;

and diseases. You need to drink 1 capsule in the morning and after lunch. In the evening

You can’t drink it - it disturbs sleep and excites the brain.

By itself, blood circulation does not improve.

Dosage from 200 mg to 1200 mg per day. May cause insomnia if taken in the evening.

Until what time can you take nootropil?

Nootropil was prescribed to be taken 3 times a day, but the instructions do not say anything about use in the evening, after six. Can it be taken with dinner? Or until what time do you have time: before 16-00, before 18-00?

In general, it is not advisable to take it in the evening. The last dose should be every three to four days. Otherwise, it will be difficult to fall asleep at night. Because it has a psychic stimulating effect. In general, its effect can be individual. That is, observe how you feel and how you can fall asleep after it. You can reduce the third dose by half. For example, take two capsules in the morning and afternoon, and one capsule the third time. Or switch to two doses a day.

Well, in general, I saw in one annotation such a phrase that the last single dose should be taken no later than five in the evening to prevent sleep disturbances (this is about piracetam, but if you are not lazy and look at the active ingredient of the medicine called nootropil, then this is exactly name and behold! ;). But in different cases the drug is prescribed to be taken two or four times a day. I attributed the last appointments to eight or nine in the evening and... nothing, I slept like the dead, there were no problems, it’s not coffee. So if you are very concerned about this topic, read the instructions for piracetam too, if not, take it as it is, nothing extraordinary will happen to you.

Nootropil is used to improve memory and the condition of blood vessels in the brain: 1 tablet. 3 times a day for a month. Take the drug up to 18 hours. A month break, and then the course again.

An excellent effect occurs after 3-4 months - memory and mood improve too.

For pensioners (in fact, the drug was originally designed for older people whose blood vessels are already bad and need to be brought into working condition) it works extremely well.

Students should start taking things like nootropil a month before the session.

This drug, like its domestic analogue Piracetam, is not recommended to be taken after 18 pm due to its tonic effect on the body and possible sleep disturbance due to this property of the drug.

Nootropil for active brain function

Nootropil belongs to the group of nootropics. The main active ingredient is Piracetam. Recommendations on how to take Nootropil are individual in each specific case. The effect of the drug is to accelerate and enhance mental activity by optimizing the functioning of neurons. In addition, the drug affects the speed of impulse transmission.

The drug promotes the activation of life-support metabolic reactions in neurons by improving blood flow in them, and, consequently, improving the delivery of oxygen, glucose and many necessary substances. Microcirculation is normalized by reducing blood viscosity, thinning it, improving the functioning of red blood cells, and their ability to change their shape due to the elasticity of the membranes.

  1. Severe degrees of impairment of consciousness (coma).
  2. Psychoorganic disorders. Including pathological changes in memory in the elderly, impaired ability to concentrate, pathological changes in behavior.
  3. Therapy after strokes.
  4. Therapy for emotional disorders.
  5. Alzheimer's disease.
  6. To alleviate the symptoms of withdrawal syndrome in the treatment of alcohol dependence.
  7. With a decrease in learning ability in children with psychoorganic disorders.

Release form and method of application

The drug is available in the form of tablets (800 mg), capsules (400 mg), solution for intravenous administration 20% (125 ml), injections 20% (5 ml). How to take Nootropil? Capsules and tablets are taken before or during meals. Drink with water. For adults: 30 - 160 mg/kg body weight per day. The dose is divided into 2-4 doses.

If the doctor has not given other recommendations on how to take Nootropil to improve memory, then for psychoorganic causes of such disorders it is recommended to take 4.8 g / day. The average course of this dosage is a week. Maintenance 1.2-2.4 g/day.

Treatment of post-ischemic cerebral changes: 4.8 g/day.

Severe disturbances of consciousness (coma): start with 9-12 g/day, then move to the maintained figures - 2.4 g/day. The course is about 21 days.

Dizziness, loss of coordination and balance: 2.4-4.8 g/day.

With a decrease in learning ability: 3.3 g/day. Admission may continue throughout the academic year.

In the treatment of alcohol dependence: in the acute period of abstinence when stopping alcohol, 12 g/day, then 2.4 g/day. If the patient cannot take Nootropil orally, the method of administration can be changed to intravenous.

It can also be prescribed for liver and kidney failure. How much Nootropil to take for kidney pathologies depends on creatinine clearance and is selected individually by the attending physician. For liver pathologies, no dose adjustment is required. In case of liver failure, dosages are adjusted taking into account creatine clearance indicators.

Side effects and contraindications

Side effects of Nootropil are extremely rare. Possible: nervousness, deterioration of the emotional background, slight drowsiness. Complications occur with long-term use of the drug. Side effects of Nootropil also include headache, dizziness, sleep disturbance, increased libido, hallucinations, anxiety, nausea, stool disorders, and allergic reactions in case of intolerance to Piracetam.

  1. The use of the drug is contraindicated in case of insufficiency of renal function with creatinine clearance below 20 ml/min, in children under one year of age, in case of hemorrhagic stroke, intolerance to Piracetam, Pyrrolidone.
  2. Pregnancy and lactation. There is no reliable data proving the safety of using the drug in pregnant women; no studies have been conducted. The main active ingredient has the ability to penetrate both the placenta and the milk of a nursing mother. When taking Nootropil, 70-90% of its volume determined in the mother’s blood is determined in the baby. Therefore, it is practically not prescribed to pregnant women. Only in cases of vital importance. Breastfeeding women are advised to stop breastfeeding while using the drug.

The use of the drug in parallel with alcohol consumption does not change the concentration in the blood of either one or the other. The drug is used with caution in case of changes in the blood coagulation system, significant bleeding, or during planned operations. With long-term use of the drug, it is recommended to monitor laboratory renal parameters. It is not recommended to use Piracetam for activities that require quick reactions, such as driving a car.

No specific symptoms of overdose have been identified. Possible intoxication symptoms: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, upset stool, possible diarrhea with blood. In such cases, gastric lavage, stimulation of vomiting, and hemodialysis are performed.

Nootropil tablets are a remedy that improves cerebral circulation, stimulates nervous activity and enhances the regeneration of brain tissue. The drug is based on piracetam. This chemical has been used by neuroscientists for several decades. During this period, all side effects were thoroughly studied and measures were taken to neutralize them. In this regard, the drug nootropil can be absolutely safely used from very early childhood in the complex treatment of various cerebral diseases.

The pharmacological industry produces nootropil for use in various dosage forms. This is a granulated powder, on the basis of which syrup for children, ready-made syrup, capsules for oral use and a solution in ampoules for intravenous and intramuscular administration can be prepared.

It is worth considering that nootropil tablets can be used to treat brain diseases only in adults. For children, the drug is given in the form of syrup or as injections as prescribed by a doctor.

Therapeutic effect

The pharmacological effect on brain structures is based on the drug’s effect on metabolic processes in nervous tissue. 72 hours after the initial administration of the active substance, the processes of accumulation of adenosine triphosphoric acid in the main tissues of neurons are activated. Against this background, RNA production increases and a large amount of long-acting phospholipids appears. Glycolytic metabolic processes are stimulated due to increased synthesis and utilization of breakdown products of carbohydrate inclusions.

In the process of using nootropil the following is achieved:

  • strengthening of integrative processes between neurons;
  • increased brain productivity;
  • improving memory processes and perseverance;
  • acceleration of the educational process;
  • increasing the overall level of performance.

After entering the brain tissue, the drug begins to quickly have a positive effect on blood microcirculation processes. The lumen of the blood vessels remains unchanged, which ensures reliable prevention of hemorrhagic strokes. With prolonged treatment, reduced platelet aggregation is observed, which has a beneficial effect on the viscosity and other rheological properties of blood.

Due to its protective effect on the brain, this drug can be prescribed for long-term exposure of the human body to various toxins, including alcohol. A positive effect is observed after an injury, an electric shock, or against the background of prolonged oxygen starvation. In case of a concussion, nootropil helps to quickly eliminate ataxia, dizziness, and manifestations of vestibular nystagmus.

During treatment, you should know that positive therapeutic results do not appear from the first day of course therapy. The first signs of a positive effect can be visible 7 to 10 days after the start of treatment. At the same time, patients do not experience depression or stimulation of nervous and mental activity. During the period of treatment with nootropil, in the absence of other severe symptoms that interfere with normal work activity, restrictions on the scope of work and its intensity are not required.

Indications

The instructions for use recommend using the drug nootropil in drug treatment and psychiatric, pediatric and neurological practice. The greatest effectiveness of the drug is observed in complex therapy in combination with other pharmacological drugs for the following diseases:

  • damage to cerebral vessels;
  • atherosclerosis;
  • cerebral vascular insufficiency of unknown origin, which is accompanied by disturbances in the memory process, headaches and dizziness, and decreased brain activity;
  • injuries to brain structures;
  • damage from alcohol, nicotine, and certain medications;
  • consequences of a cerebrovascular accident of ischemic type;
  • Alzheimer's disease and other forms of encephalopathy.
  • In psychiatry there are also separate indications for the use of nootropil:
  • asthenia with elements of depression;
  • hypochondria with adynamic syndrome;
  • mental retardation with mental damage;
  • various forms of myoclonus.

In adolescence, the drug improves the processes of social adaptation, reduces the level of psychological tension, shyness and a tendency to depression. At an early age, nootropil is indicated for children who have suffered birth injuries and intrauterine damage to brain structures, including cerebral palsy. The drug helps to cope with the consequences of intrauterine fetal hypoxia, excluding the further development of destruction of nervous tissue.

In drug treatment practice, the drug can effectively eliminate the consequences of using alcohol and drugs. During the abstinence period, negative side effects are removed, and the process of complete restoration of the affected brain structures is achieved. During treatment for alcoholism and drug addiction, nootropil can reduce painful psychological cravings for the use of toxic substances. Improves the psychological state of a sick person.

How to take nootropil?

Severe conditions at the initial stage of treatment The drug is administered intravenously slowly at a dose of at least 10 grams per day
Treatment of moderate conditions 600 mg 3 times a day for 60 days
Senile dementia and organic lesions of brain structures Long-term 600 mg 3-4 times a day
Nootropil for children In syrup form, no more than 50 mg per day
Brain injuries 400 mg 3 times a day for 15 days

The drug should be taken in the first half of the day. After 17:00, taking nootropil is not advisable, as this may interfere with the process of falling asleep. Also, when taken in the evening, cases of increased blood pressure are not uncommon. Direct analogue of nootropil -
