Personal opinion

An absolutely delightful place, somewhat similar to the scenery for joyful films with a good ending.
Transport directly in the Lazne area is the bare minimum, only for the arrival of guests. Lots of greenery, beautiful hotel buildings, springs, colonnades. The atmosphere alone fills you with optimism and new strength.

Unfortunately, it’s still not easy with English and Russian languages, but the resort is gradually becoming international, and not German-oriented, as it was almost all of its history.

Huge natural resources are what Frantiskovy Lazne has - mineral water, healing mud, peat, all this has positive impact during treatment great circle diseases, both in adults and children. The resort has been known since the seventeenth century, when celebrities, as well as monks from all over Europe, began to visit Frantiskovy Lazne with enviable regularity to improve their health. Since then, relaxation in this place has not changed and continues to give health and tranquility to visitors. We planned an overnight stay in Frantiskovy Lazne on the way from Germany to, already on the way back. To be honest, I didn’t like the town, it’s kind of boring - in a word, a health resort for German pensioners :) Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend looking for interesting sights or fun activities there :) However, for those who go for rest or treatment, the article may be useful.

Frantiskovy Lazne – Czech thermal resort

The resort town of Frantiskovy Lazne (Frantiskovy Lazne) is located 180 km from Prague and 50 km from Karlovy Vary on the very border with Germany (hence the distribution German language and a huge number of Germans). The resort was founded back in the 18th century, so it can be said to be a historical landmark in itself.

Beethoven, Goethe, and Schiller came to the resort in their time, and today Frantiskovy Lazne specializes in the treatment of gynecological diseases. How to get to Frantiskovy Lazne

You can get to Frantiskovy Lazne both from Prague and Karlovy Vary.

The easiest way to get there is by car, since the route is public transport a little confusing.

By bus from the Florenc bus station in Prague you can get to the city of Cheb (from 200 CZK), then transfer to another bus and get to Frantiskovy Lazne.

The same thing with the train - you need to get to Cheb station (from 310 CZK), change either to a local train (another 7 minutes to Lazne) or to a bus.

If you have the financial opportunity, it is better, of course, to order an individual transfer - especially if you are sending your parents or grandparents to the resort! The cost of a transfer from Prague is 120 euros (it is better to order at least two days in advance, then the availability of a car is guaranteed).

You can also get from Karlovy Vary by bus with a transfer to Cheb (from 50 CZK).

Rent a car in Frantiskovy Lazne.

I looked through all the main car rental sites, but did not find a single car rental point in this city. I'm sure there are rentals in the city, you just need to find out from private companies or through the reception of your hotel.

Sights of Frantiskovy Lazne

As I said above, Lazne is not a very fun city in terms of entertainment. Therefore, the main attractions here are thermal springs, numerous parks and gardens, walking areas.

Walking area

The center of the city is Peace Square, which was founded around the first discovered source (back in the 18th century). On the same square stands the figure of the aforementioned miracle boy.

Among the architectural attractions are the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, as well as the Church of Saint Olga.

Natural attractions are the Soos National Nature Reserve, 5 km from Marianske Lazne (peat bogs, under which springs gush out and these bogs begin to boil), and 2 km away is the Komorni Hurka volcano, which is generally no longer active.

The choice of hotels and sanatoriums is not very large, but guest houses and boarding houses are quite diverse. We stayed in one of the “pensions” for 44 euros per night. Everything is more than modest and not always thought out (for example, in the shower there is not even any shelf for toiletries). The only good thing is that it’s very close to the center, and you can walk to the Lidl supermarket (15 minutes). I won’t say the name, because... I don't want to recommend this place)

Rezidence Zámeček 5* (9.5) – a castle-style hotel located next to the park and close to all attractions. The restaurant serves gourmet dishes. And the price is only 75 euros per night with breakfast!

Imperial Spa & Kurhotel 4* (8.9) - SPA hotel in the city center. The hotel has a swimming pool and offers various spa treatments. From 120 euros with breakfast.

Penzion Rossini 3* (8.8) – inexpensive guesthouse (from 36 euros per night with breakfast) 300 meters from the colonnade. Free Wi-Fi, a garden and barbecue facilities are at guests' disposal. Opposite is public parking.
