Eufillin tablets - official instructions for use. Eufillin in children is an unsafe drug for home use

Eufillin is an effective bronchodilator. His pharmachologic effect due to inclusion in the group of xanthines. Mainly it active substance is theophylline. Due to its presence in this medicine, it has positive effect on the human body: expands the bronchi, relaxes their smooth muscles, and also eliminates antispasmodic effects. This medicine also improves contractions of the diaphragmatic muscle, as well as intercostal and other respiratory muscles, from which Eufillin helps normalize natural respiratory activity. In addition to everything, it improves the functioning of epithelial cilia respiratory tract, improves pulmonary ventilation, stimulates the respiratory center in the medulla oblongata and saturates the blood with oxygen, reducing the content of carbon dioxide in it.

The mechanism of action of Euphyllin is the gradual inhibition of the phosphodiesterase enzyme, which promotes the accumulation of cAMP in tissues and a decrease in the supply of calcium ions into cells, which are responsible for muscle contraction. As a result of applying this medical product the muscles of the bronchi relax, cardiac activity is stimulated, and the strength and frequency of myocardial contractions increases. Eufillin has the ability to reduce tone blood vessels, mainly the brain, kidneys and skin.

What are Eufillin tablets prescribed for?

  1. This medicine is prescribed for chronic bronchitis.
  2. It is recommended to take it when bronchial asthma and in general asthmatic conditions.
  3. This drug helps with emphysema - if present pathological processes in the lungs, which are characterized increased content air in the lung tissue.
  4. Eufillin is used in apnea treatment newborns - interrupted breathing with a stop for 15 seconds or more.
  5. This medication is also prescribed when Rhine-Stokes breathing is detected.

Just like anyone else medicine, Eufillin has contraindications for use - a list of conditions for which it should never be used this medication. Doctors strongly recommend that you stop taking this drug in the following circumstances:

  • if you have gastritis or ulcers;
  • if you are diagnosed with palpitations and other heart diseases;
  • if there are disturbances in the functioning of the liver;
  • at excessive consumption alcoholic drinks;
  • if you have been diagnosed with acute or chronic renal failure;
  • during pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

Directions for use and dosage

The methods of use and dosage of this medication depend on the patient’s condition, his age and form of the disease, as well as on the form in which Eufillin is prescribed: as an injection solution or tablets. If we're talking about O emergency cases, then the dosage of this drug is selected at the rate of 6 mg. per kilogram of human weight. The solution is diluted in 20 ml. saline sodium chloride solution, and then administered slowly intravenously over 5 minutes. Average duration Such treatment ranges from 12 to 14 days.

Eufillin in tablet form should be taken at 0.15 g. 1 – 3 times a day after eating food. Such a course of treatment can last, depending on the disease, from several days to several months. For example, with apnea of newborns, when breathing stops last more than 15 seconds and are accompanied by a simultaneous decrease in heartbeat, the initial dose of this drug for newborns is 5 mg. per kilogram several times a day. When the baby’s condition improves, doctors recommend switching to a maintenance dosage, which is 2 mg. per kilogram several times a day. The duration of treatment varies from several weeks to several months.

Interaction with other drugs

  • The use of this drug in conjunction with mineralocorticoid and glucocorticoid drugs, as well as with those medications that affect the central nervous system is fraught with increased side effects the latter on the human body.
  • The use of Eufillin with lithium salts is accompanied by a decrease in the effect of salts on the body as a whole.

Eufillin is medicine, containing 20% 1,2-ethylenediamine and 80% theophylline alkaloid. It has a diuretic, vasodilator and antispasmodic effect, for which the drug Eufillin is used for cardiac and bronchial stroke, asthma and other diseases.

Euphyllin (lat. euphyllinum) is a bronchodilator, a phosphodiesterase inhibitor.

Synonyms and analogues of aminophylline

Aminophylline has only one synonym – aminophylline, which contains the same active substance. In addition, there are analogs that contain another active substance, but have a similar spectrum of action:

  • diprophylline;
  • neo-theofebrine;
  • neotheopec;
  • theobiolong;
  • theobromine;
  • Teopek;
  • theophedrine;
  • theotard.

pharmachologic effect

The effect of aminophylline is primarily due to the content of theophylline in it. Ethylenediamine enhances antispasmodic (relieving spasms) activity and promotes the dissolution of the drug. The mechanism of action of aminophylline is basically similar to the mechanism of action of theophylline. Important Features aminophylline are its solubility in water and the possibility of its parenteral (intravenous or intramuscular) administration. Like theophylline, aminophylline relaxes the muscles of the bronchi, reduces the resistance of blood vessels, dilates the coronary (heart) vessels, and lowers pressure in the system. pulmonary artery, increases renal blood flow, has a diuretic (diuretic) effect, associated primarily with a decrease in tubular reabsorption (reabsorption of water into renal tubules), causes an increase in urinary excretion of water and electrolytes, especially sodium and chlorine ions. The drug strongly inhibits platelet aggregation (sticking together).

Indications for use

Eufillin is used for bronchial asthma and bronchospasms of various origins (to relieve attacks), hypertension in the pulmonary circulation, for cardiac asthma (especially accompanied by bronchospasm and Cheyne-Stokes breathing), to improve renal blood flow, to relieve cerebral vascular crises of atherosclerotic origin and improve cerebral circulation, decreasing inside cranial pressure and cerebral edema with ischemic strokes, at chronic failure cerebral circulation.

Contraindications

  • hypersensitivity to aminophylline and other methylxanthine derivatives;
  • myocardial infarction in acute phase;
  • tachyarrhythmia;
  • hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy;
  • peptic ulcer and duodenum in the acute phase;
  • severe impairment of liver and/or kidney function;
  • hyperthyroidism;
  • epilepsy;
  • taking ephedrine (in children);
  • children under 6 years of age.

Instructions for use of Eufillin

In the form of a solution, the drug is administered intravenously and intramuscularly, parenteral use justified in the treatment of emergency and emergency conditions. In this case, the dosage is calculated individually, depending on the severity of the condition and the patient’s weight.

For adults in emergency situations According to the instructions, the dose of Euphyllin is selected at the rate of 6 mg/kg, it is diluted in 20 ml of physiological sodium chloride solution, and administered intravenously slowly over at least 5 minutes.

Asthmatic status requires infusion administration of the drug in the amount of 720 - 750 mg. Parenteral administration of Eufillin is not recommended for longer than 14 days.

To alleviate the condition of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases in the acute phase, start with a dose of 5–6 mg/kg of the drug. If necessary, it should be increased very carefully, under control of its content in the blood.

Eufillin tablets are taken 0.15 g 1 to 3 times a day, after meals. The course of treatment can last from several days to several months.

For apnea of newborns, when breathing stops last for 15 seconds with a simultaneous decrease in heartbeat, the initial dose of this drug for newborns is 5 mg/kg/day in 2 divided doses. The drug is administered through a nasogastric tube. When the condition stabilizes, switch to a maintenance dose of 2 mg/kg/day in 2 divided doses. The duration of use can range from several weeks to several months.

Depending on the severity of the condition and indications for Eufillin in children daily dose varies from 6 to 15 mg/kg.

For elderly patients, caution should be exercised when treating with the drug. According to reviews, Eufillin enhances the side effects of glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids and adrenergic stimulants. Not used this remedy simultaneously with other xanthine derivatives.

Side effects

When taking aminophylline, side effects are possible: various organs and systems:

From the side of the central nervous system: dizziness, anxiety, sleep disturbances, convulsions, tremor;

From the outside of cardio-vascular system: palpitations, decreased blood pressure, arrhythmias, cardialgia, tachycardia (in the third trimester of pregnancy - in the fetus, among others), the occurrence of pain in the heart area (with rapid intravenous administration), increased frequency of angina attacks;

From the outside digestive system: nausea, vomiting, heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux, diarrhea, exacerbation peptic ulcer, anorexia (with prolonged use);

From the urinary system: hematuria, albuminuria;

Allergic reactions: fever, skin rash, itching;

From the side of metabolism: hypoglycemia (rare);

Local reactions: soreness, thickening, hyperemia (at the injection site), proctitis, irritation of the rectal mucosa (when taken orally);

Other: chest pain, tachypnea, albuminuria, hematuria, flushing, hypoglycemia, increased sweating, increased diuresis.

Overdose

Symptoms: loss of appetite, gastralgia, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting (including blood), gastrointestinal bleeding, tachypnea, facial skin flushing, tachycardia, ventricular arrhythmias, insomnia, motor agitation, anxiety, photophobia, tremor, convulsions. At severe poisoning epileptoid seizures may develop (especially in children without any warning signs), hypoxia, metabolic acidosis, hyperglycemia, hypokalemia, decreased blood pressure, skeletal muscle necrosis, confusion, renal failure with myoglobinuria.

Treatment: drug withdrawal, gastric lavage, use activated carbon, laxative drugs, intestinal lavage with a combination of polyethylene glycol and electrolytes, forced diuresis, hemosorption, plasma sorption, hemodialysis (effectiveness is not high, peritoneal dialysis is not effective), symptomatic therapy(including metoclopramide and ondansetron - for vomiting). If convulsions occur, maintain airway patency and administer oxygen therapy. To relieve a seizure, intravenous diazepam 0.1-0.3 mg/kg (but not more than 10 mg). At severe nausea and vomiting - metoclopramide or ondansetron (intravenous).

Interaction with other drugs

Increases the likelihood of developing side effects of glucocorticosteroids, mineralocorticosteroids (hypernatremia), drugs for general anesthesia(increases the risk of ventricular arrhythmias), xanthines and agents that excite the central nervous system (increases neurotoxicity), beta-agonists. Antidiarrheal drugs and enterosorbents reduce the absorption of aminophylline. Rifampicin, phenobarbital, phenytoin, isoniazid, carbamazepine, sulfinpyrazone, aminoglutethimide, oral estrogen-containing contraceptives and moracizine, being inducers of microsomal liver enzymes, increase the clearance of aminophylline, which may require an increase in its dose. When used simultaneously with macrolide antibiotics, lincomycin, allopurinol, cimetidine, isoprenaline, enoxacin, in small doses ethanol, disulfiram, fluoroquinolones, recombinant interferon-alpha, methotrexate, mexiletine, propafenone, thiabendazole, ticlopidine, verapamil and with influenza vaccination, the intensity of action of aminophylline may increase, which may require a reduction in its dose. Enhances the effect of beta-adrenergic stimulants and diuretics (including by increasing glomerular filtration), reduces the effectiveness of lithium preparations and beta-blockers. Compatible with antispasmodics, do not use in combination with other xanthine derivatives.

special instructions

Dosage adjustment is required for fever, chronic alcoholism, acute respiratory infections, liver dysfunction and heart failure. For elderly patients, the dose is usually reduced.

In case of replacing one dosage form required for another clinical observation with monitoring the concentration of theophylline in blood plasma. Euphyllyl cannot be used simultaneously with other xanthine derivatives. During treatment it is necessary to exclude from the diet food products containing xanthine derivatives (tea, strong coffee). With caution - simultaneously with anticoagulants and other theophylline or purine derivatives. You should avoid taking the drug simultaneously with beta-blockers; it should not be used simultaneously with glucose solution.

In this article we will look at the instructions for use for the Eufillin tablets.

It should be noted right away that this drug quite effectively eliminates spasms in barking dry coughs, but does not directly treat the cough, only temporarily alleviating the patient’s condition. This time is necessary until other medications begin to take effect. Thanks to "Eufillin" the patient can breathe and does not feel pain. About the peculiarities of the effect of the drug, its positive influence and possible side symptoms will be discussed in detail in this article.

Pharmacology

According to the instructions for the Eufillin tablets, due to the pharmacological effect of the drug, the bronchial muscles relax, the function of contraction of the diaphragm increases, and the functionality of not only the respiratory but also the intercostal muscles is significantly reduced.

In addition, the effect of the drug stimulates the respiratory center, increasing its sensitivity to carbon dioxide, as well as improving alveolar ventilation.

The respiratory function returns to normal under the influence of the drug, increases the oxygen saturation of the blood and thereby reduces the carbon dioxide content in it.

In addition, the drug has a stimulating effect on the activity of the heart, increasing heart rate and increasing coronary blood flow and myocardial oxygen demand. Vascular tone skin, brain and kidneys decreases.

In addition, the sphere of influence of Eufillin tablets includes:

  • providing venodilating peripheral action;
  • decreased pressure in the pulmonary circulation;
  • reduction of vascular pulmonary resistance;
  • increased blood flow to the kidneys;
  • providing a moderate diuretic effect;
  • inhibition of platelet aggregation;
  • expansion of extrahepatic bile ducts;
  • increased resistance to erythrocyte deformation;
  • reducing the formation of blood clots and normalizing microcirculation;
  • epileptogenic effect when consumed in large doses;
  • an increase in the acidity of gastric juice due to the tocolytic effect of the drug.

Pharmacokinetics of the drug

When the drug "Eufilin" penetrates the patient's body, it is completely and quickly absorbed. Bioavailability percentage is 90-100. The rate of absorption may be affected by food, but not the volume. The most high efficiency from taking the drug is achieved within two hours.

The drug is able to penetrate into breast milk women approximately ten percent of the total dose and across the placental barrier, where its concentration is significantly higher compared to the concentration in maternal plasma.

For the occurrence of bronchodilator symptoms active component A content of 10-20 micrograms per milliliter is enough for the medicine. More high concentration it becomes toxic. Interestingly, the lower the drug content in the blood, the better the effect of excitation of the respiratory center is realized.

The drug is metabolized mainly in the liver, the half-life depends on general condition sick. It is excreted through the kidneys.

In what cases is this medication used?

The use of Eufillin tablets is justified for the treatment of patients suffering from a number of diseases requiring bronchodilator effects:

Rules for taking pills

Eufillin tablets are taken orally. You can drink 0.15 grams three times a day. The medicine must be taken after meals and washed down clean water. IN childhood You are allowed to take the drug four times, seven milligrams per kilogram of weight. The treatment course using tablets is determined by a specialist. It can last from several days to two months.

Contraindications to the use of this drug

Eufillin tablets cannot be prescribed in situations where the patient has oversensitivity to the substances of the drug, especially to its active component.

In addition, the medication is contraindicated if the patient has a number of diagnostic indications:

  • epilepsy;
  • exacerbation of ulcerative pathology of the duodenum and stomach;
  • gastritis (if acidity is increased);
  • arterial hypotension or severe hypertension;
  • stroke hemorrhagic type;
  • tachyarrhythmia;
  • hemorrhage in the retina of the organs of vision;
  • children up to three years of age.

Caution in the use of Eufillin tablets is required in following cases:

  • at coronary insufficiency with a severe course (in the acute phase of angina, myocardial infarction);
  • with widespread vascular atherosclerosis;
  • with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy;
  • in childhood;
  • in old age;
  • with frequent ventricular extrasystole;
  • during pregnancy;
  • with excessive convulsive readiness;
  • with gastroesophageal reflux;
  • with kidney and liver failure;
  • with prolonged hyperthermia;
  • with ulcerative pathology of the duodenum and stomach;
  • with uncontrolled thyrotoxicosis and hypothyroidism;
  • with bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract.

Consequences of drug overdose

If the patient has drunk an excessive amount of Eufillin tablets, the appearance of dangerous complications. It is necessary to go to the medical institution and rinse the stomach. You should immediately report all negative symptoms to your doctor. Among them are the following:

  • loss of appetite;
  • urge to vomit;
  • diarrhea;
  • stomach bleeding;
  • severe pain in the abdominal area;
  • rapid heartbeat;
  • overexcitement of the patient;
  • insomnia;
  • facial redness;
  • the appearance of feelings of fear and anxiety;
  • the onset of seizures and the occurrence of epilepsy;
  • loss of consciousness by a person;
  • decreased blood pressure;
  • fear of light and dizziness.

Cough therapy with Eufillin

Often, when coughing, specialists prescribe treatment for patients with Eufillin. Thanks to it, the bronchi quickly expand and breathing in general improves. The attacks and pathological wheezing will pass. But to treat a slight cough like this a strong drug Not recommended. "Eufillin" is prescribed exclusively by the attending physician if there are severe attacks.

If the patient painful cough and periodic choking, then you are allowed to take the medicine three times a day. In this case, a six-hour interval must be maintained between each dose of the drug.

Interaction of this drug with other medications

According to the instructions for use for Eufillin cough tablets, if you simultaneously take the drug with mineralocorticosteroids, glucocorticosteroids, beta-adrenergic stimulants, drugs for general anesthesia, Xanthine and drugs that promote central nervous system stimulation, the likelihood of adverse symptoms may increase.

The use of antidiarrheals and enterosorbents will reduce the absorption of the main component of Eufillin.

Concomitant therapy with aminoglutethimide, isoniazid, rifampicin, sulfinpyrazone, phenobarbital, carbamazepine, phenytoin, moracizine and estrogen-containing oral contraceptives increases the clearance of the main active component of the drug, and this may cause the need to increase the dosage.

Concomitant use of macrolide drugs, allopurinol, verapamil, lincomycin, ticlopidine, cimetidine, thiabendazole, isoprenaline, propafenone, enoxacinoma, mexiletine, disulfiram, methotrexate, fluoroquinolamine, recombinant interferon alpha, alcohol (even in small quantities) and influenza vaccination may require reduction doses of "Eufillin", since these drugs help to increase the intensity of its effect.

Cough tablets "Eufillin" when used simultaneously with diuretics and beta-agonists increase the effectiveness of these drugs. A decrease in the effectiveness of use was noticed when combined with beta-blockers.

Antispasmodics work well together, which cannot be said about other xanthine derivatives, which are not recommended to be used simultaneously with the drug.

This is confirmed by the instructions for cough tablets "Eufillin".

Analogues of "Eufillin"

During therapy, the drug can be replaced with drugs that are similar in their active substance and composition. These include the following:

  • "Aminophylline Eskom";
  • Eufillin solution for injection 2.4%;
  • "Aminophylline."

One tablet of "Eufillin" contains 150 g active substance– aminophylline. The drug relaxes the muscles of the bronchi, improves contraction of the diaphragm, stimulates the function of the intercostal and respiratory muscles, promotes good functioning of the respiratory center and bronchial ventilation. Normalizing respiratory function, it improves blood oxygen saturation and helps reduce concentrations in the body.
"Eufillin" stimulates heart function, increases the strength and frequency of its contractions, improves cardiac circulation, reduces the tone of blood vessels in the brain, kidneys and skin.

"Eufillin" reduces pressure in the pulmonary circulation, causes moderate diuretic effect, expands biliary tract, reduces the formation of platelets, reduces the formation of blood clots, normalizes microcirculation of the blood and stomach. The drug is prescribed for chronic obstructive asthma, bronchial asthma, emphysema, when stopping breathing movements, with Cheyne-Stokes breathing (involuntary periodic breathing).

"Eufillin" is taken after meals, 150 milligrams one to three times a day. The drug must be prescribed by a doctor. Children are given Eufillin per day at the rate of 7-10 milligrams per 1 kg of body weight, this amount should be divided into four doses. The highest dose of the drug for: single - 0.5 grams, daily - 1.5 grams. The highest dose: single - 7 milligrams per 1 kilogram of body weight, daily - 15 milligrams per 1 kilogram of body weight.

The course of treatment should be continued depending on the disease and tolerability of the drug. The duration of taking the drug can range from several days to several months.

Information from the instructions for use of "Eufillin" in ampoules: indications, methods of use, side effects, contraindications, interactions with drugs.

"Eufillin" solution is used as a systemic bronchodilator, part of the xanthine group, for diseases accompanied by airway obstruction. The active substance is theophylline.

The medication is available in glass ampoules of 5 or 10 pieces per package. They contain a solution of different concentrations. A composition containing 2.4% or 2% of the active substance is intended for intravenous administration. Ampoules with 24% concentration are designed for intramuscular injections, therefore, when using the medicine, you should carefully study the labeling. Let us consider in detail the instructions for using the Eufillin solution in ampoules.

By inhibiting the activity of phosphodiesterase enzymes, the drug helps to increase the ATP derivative, cyclic adenosine monophosphate. By blocking purienergy receptors, the medicine reduces the transport of calcium ions and effectively relieves spasm of smooth muscles. As a result:

  • relaxation of the bronchi occurs;
  • ventilation of the alveolar space increases;
  • the work of the respiratory and intercostal muscles improves;
  • the resistance of the respiratory mucosa increases external influence(mucociliary clearance);
  • the tension in the walls of blood vessels decreases, their lumen expands (also in the kidneys, brain and skin);
  • the pressure in the pulmonary circulation decreases.

Activation of the respiratory center and a decrease in vascular resistance in the lungs leads to the entry of oxygen into the blood, reducing the depth and frequency of apnea attacks.

The description also states that “Eufillin” has the following effects:

  • increases blood flow through myocardial vessels;
  • stimulates muscle work, increasing the frequency and strength of contractions, increasing its need for O2;
  • dilates the bile ducts;
  • activates the production of adrenaline by the adrenal glands;
  • when relaxing the blood vessels of the kidneys, it has a moderate diuretic effect.

The solution improves blood properties, inhibits thrombus formation, and increases the resistance of red blood cells to destruction. The drug increases concentration gastric juice, has a relaxing effect on the muscles of the uterine walls (tocolytic effect). IN large doses has an epileptogenic effect.

Pharmakinetics

The drug has high bioavailability, reaching its target in 100% (minimum 90%). When administered into a vein 300 mg maximum concentration noted after 15 minutes. At optimal weight body, the interval in the distribution of the drug is 300 – 700 ml per kilogram of weight. The connection with proteins can be traced depending on age and liver pathologies:

  • in an adult it is 60%;
  • in children in the first months after birth – 38%;
  • in people suffering from liver cirrhosis – 36%.

The penetration of Eufillin into breast milk during lactation is 10%. During pregnancy, it is discovered that the accumulation of the drug in the blood serum of the embryo is higher than in the mother.

The medication affects the bronchi when detected in the blood from 10 to 20 mcg per ml. The realization of excitation on the respiratory center occurs at 5 – 10 mcg per ml. Above 20 mg toxic effects are observed.

The drug is metabolized in the liver, converted into dimethyluric acid; caffeine is also an active metabolite. In adults it is excreted in small quantities, in newborns and children under 6 months it is poorly excreted, accumulating in the body. After 3 years it is recycled without residue.

The drug is eliminated through the kidneys. In infants, due to liver enzyme deficiency, half the dose comes out unchanged.

When is it prescribed?

Eufillin solution is used:

  • with BOS (broncho-obstructive syndrome);
  • to stop attacks of bronchial and cardiac asthma;
  • to remove intracranial hypertension with dysfunction of cerebral vessels (cerebrovascular insufficiency);
  • at high blood pressure in the pulmonary circulation;

The drug is prescribed as part of the treatment of left ventricular failure, accompanied by periodically occurring bronchospasm and Cheyne-Stokes syndrome.

Application

The dosage and method of administration of Eufillin are prescribed individually in each case. The age, weight and disease of the patient are taken into account.

Intravenously

Infusion (infusion) of a large volume of the drug is used when stopping an attack of bronchospasm is urgently required:

  1. For a dropper you need 10 - 20 ml of medication and the same amount of 9% sodium chloride solution, the composition is diluted with 0.5 l (0.25) saline solution. Dose – 5.6 mg per kilogram of patient weight. "Eufillin" is administered over 30 minutes.
  2. During an asthma attack, an intravenous infusion is performed, up to 750 mg of medication is infused drip-wise.
  3. For intravenous injection, Eufillin is also diluted in sodium chloride solution. The composition is administered slowly over 6 minutes to avoid negative influence on the body.
  4. If the patient takes Teoffilin, the dose is reduced by half.

The daily volume of "Eufillin" in ampoules, according to the instructions for use, is calculated in grams per kilogram of weight:

When the patient’s condition is relieved, the patient is transferred to maintenance therapy. In this case, it is more often prescribed oral administration, intramuscular injections are used when difficulties arise with taking pills, for example, stomach problems.

Intramuscular injections

The patient should know that Eufillin injections are painful and residual pain syndrome worries for a few more hours. Thick needles are used for injections; if you inject with thin analogues, the tip may remain in the tissues of the buttocks due to muscle spasm. The volume per day is 0.5 - 1 microns, it is distributed 3 times.

For inhalation

"Eufillin" is used as inhalation for bronchial obstruction and during asthma attacks in children due to its ability to relieve spasm and dilate the bronchi. As a result, sputum separation occurs faster.

A nebulizer is used for the procedure; the medicine penetrates into the bronchi in the form of an aerosol. The solution for inhalation is prepared from an ampoule of "Eufillina" and 3 ampoules of "Diphenhydramine", add 150 ml of distilled water or saline solution. The amount of medication and how many procedures will be required are determined only by the pediatrician, depending on the severity of the disease.

It makes no sense to use steam inhalations, since only water vapor enters the bronchi.

For electrophoresis

For electrophoresis, "Eufillin" is used in the treatment of osteochondrosis and destructive joint lesions for adult patients. For children, it is prescribed to reduce cranial pressure, relieve muscle tone in the limbs and for dysplasia.

The drug is administered by applying current pulses through the skin in the form of oppositely charged ions. By irritating the receptors of the skin and tissue, the current:

  • increases their activity;
  • stimulates blood circulation;
  • increases sensitivity to medications;
  • speeds up metabolic processes.

The general effect of electrophoresis with Eufillin is pain relief, elimination of inflammation, resorption of compactions, and improvement of traffic due to vasodilation. Lingering in the layers of the skin and subcutaneous fat, the drug continues to have a therapeutic effect for more than a day.

The procedure is carried out using electrodes and pads made of several layers of gauze soaked in medicine. For adults, a 2% solution concentration is used. Duration 15 minutes, 10 sessions are performed for treatment.

This method of administering the drug makes it possible to achieve the desired concentration directly in the damaged area. With a targeted effect, the composition does not cause systemic reactions, so the procedure is prescribed even to infants from one month of age.

In newborns after birth injuries for cerebral palsy, hypertonicity of the muscles of the limbs, and cerebrovascular accidents, the procedure is carried out according to Ratner. The method consists in using 2 medications:

  1. The first pad is impregnated with Eufillin in a concentration of 0.5% and applied in the neck area.
  2. For the other, “Papaverine” 1% is used, it is injected onto the chest ribs on the right.

Usually, both adults and young patients tolerate electrophoresis provided there are no contraindications.

It is not allowed to perform electrophoresis for all types of dermatoses, tachycardia, arterial hypertension

How does it interact?

"Eufillin" does not interact with all medications:

  1. Do not combine the drug with acid solutions.
  2. When used in parallel with Sulfinpyrazone, Phenytoin, Rifampicin, Phenobarbital, Isoniazid, Carbamazepine, and contraceptives, metabolism accelerates, which requires an increase in dosage.
  3. A mutual decrease in effectiveness occurs when taken with adrenergic blockers.
  4. Simultaneous use with macrolides and fluoroquinols and influenza vaccine increases the effect of the drug, which leads to a reduction in the dose.
  5. "Eufillin" enhances the effect of anticoagulants
  6. When using anesthetics, glucocorticosteroids, adrenergic agonists, the danger increases adverse reactions

For the entire period of treatment, it is prohibited to consume substances containing xanthines, and you should not drink tea or coffee.

Side effect

In some cases, side effects occur during use of the drug:

  1. The central nervous system reacts with anxiety, irritability, sleep disturbance, dizziness, tremor, and seizures.
  2. Digestive system. It manifests itself in the appearance of heartburn, vomiting, diarrhea, gastroesophageal reflux, exacerbation of peptic ulcer, gastralgia.
  3. Heart and blood vessels. In response to taking the medicine, increased heart rate, arrhythmia, hypotension may be observed, heart pain occurs when rapid introduction solution into a vein. The urinary system responds by the appearance of protein and blood in the urine and increased urination.
  4. Allergies manifest as itching, rash on skin, increasing temperature.
  5. Local reactions. At the injection site, compactions, redness, swelling, and painful sensations form.

Possible decrease in blood glucose level, increased breathing (tachypnea), pain in chest. Flushing or increased sweating may occur. Unpleasant symptoms disappear when you stop using the medicine.

Contraindications

"Eufillin" is different wide range contraindications, it is not prescribed for:

  • intolerance to the active substance;
  • pulmonary edema;
  • various manifestations of arrhythmia;
  • severe kidney and liver diseases;
  • stages of myocardial infarction, stroke and heart failure;
  • bleeding in the retina:
  • exacerbation of ulcers;
  • risk of bleeding;
  • diagnosis of epilepsy.

The medicine is prescribed with caution for septic processes and uncontrolled hypothyroidism due to the likelihood of drug accumulation. And also for older people, with prostate adenoma, widespread vascular atherosclerosis.

Children under 14 years of age are not recommended to use Eufillin solution due to the high risk of adverse reactions. Up to 3 years intravenous injections rarely prescribed. Subsequently, the drug is used strictly according to indications.

  • intestinal and stomach bleeding;
  • tachycardia;
  • tremor, even convulsions during severe poisoning especially in children.

If you continue to take it, the sick person may fall into a coma.

If negative signs appear, the administration of the drug is stopped. Forced diuresis is used to remove Eufillin from the blood. For vomiting, Metoclopramide is prescribed; for convulsions, Diazepam is administered. The neutralizing agent for poisoning is “Riboxin”, the solution is injected into a vein, oxygen inhalations are used. When the concentration in the body reaches 5 mg/ml, hemodialysis, plasmaphoresis or hemosorption are used.

Precautionary measures

The use of "Eufillin" for intravenous administration requires compliance with special conditions:

  1. Glucose solution is not used to dilute the solution due to incompatibility of the agents, so it is important to take into account the pH of the substance used.
  2. Intravenous administration begins with a minimum volume, then gradually increases.
  3. When administering the composition, the patient’s condition should be monitored, respiration, blood pressure and heart rate monitored. If the indicators change, the speed is reduced or the solution is administered dropwise.
  4. Before giving a drip or injection, the medicine must be warmed to the person’s body temperature.
  5. At high doses carry out monitoring of the drug content in the blood. In patients with heart disease, liver disease, infectious processes, and also in older people, the dosage of Eufillin is reduced.

During the treatment period, you should not drive a car or engage in activities that require concentrated attention.
