The benefits of black rowan for men. The use of chokeberry in folk medicine. Tincture recipe to increase hemoglobin levels

Traditional medicine is rapidly gaining momentum in everyday life. Many refined foods and chemicals have a detrimental effect on health. Every year everything more people choose natural berries and herbs not only for food, but also for treatment. One of the brightest representatives of alternative medicine is chokeberry, the benefits and contraindications of which are due to the huge number of substances that affect the human body.

Chokeberry, its features

Chokeberry or chokeberry is a medium-sized branched shrub with deep black berries, shiny leaves, similar in shape to cherry ones. The fruits became edible only at the beginning of the 19th century thanks to the work of Ivan Michurin. A famous Russian biologist completely changed the set of chromosomes of a wild plant, which made chokeberry suitable for growing in gardens and summer cottages. After that, various high-quality varieties were bred. Today, chokeberry is considered not only delicious berry, but also therapeutic.

Know! Before breeding work by I.V. Michurin, chokeberry was considered an ornamental plant; its berries were inedible.

Composition of chokeberry

Small black berry rich in vitamins, nutrients, organic acids. Taken together, they bring invaluable benefits to the body, but there are a number of limitations. The main components of chokeberry fruits:

  • about 0.5 mg per 100 g of fruits of vitamin P, in smaller quantities: A, B, C, E, K;
  • sucrose, fructose, fiber, glucose;
  • Among the organic acids in small quantities there are citric, malic and oxalic;
  • macro- and microelements, the main ones: iodine, potassium, manganese, phosphorus, bromine, fluorine, sodium, magnesium, iron, molybdenum;
  • sorbitol, ash, starch, flavonoids and pectins.

The calorie content is quite low - about 56 kilocalories per hundred grams of berries. In addition to the fruits, the leaves, which contain vitamin P and hyperoside, which is a cardiotonic, have medicinal properties.

The berries should be picked in inflorescences without damaging the branch. The collected fruits can be kept fresh for several months if left in a dark, cool place. Moreover, you can store them in clusters, hanging them over a rope or fishing line stretched between two supports. For longer-term storage, only drying is suitable.

  1. First you need to separate the berries from the branches, sort them for spoiled ones, remove excess debris, and rinse in cold water.
  2. Then dry well, leaving the chokeberry in bulk on a towel.
  3. Next, preheat the oven, setting the temperature to no more than 40°C. Spread the berries on a baking sheet in an even layer, place in the oven, opening the door slightly so that the rowan does not steam.
  4. During drying, the temperature can be increased slightly, but not more than 20°C. After some time, you can take some berries and squeeze them in your hand.

If no juice comes out and your hands don’t get dirty, then everything is ready.

Important! If, after drying, the berries crumble at the slightest pressure, it means they have been overdried and are not suitable for consumption.

After drying in the oven or special device The rowan must be taken out into the air to cool. Cooled berries can be placed in paper bags and stored for more than a year.

The problem arises when they are present in excessive quantities. In this case, their effect can be compared to a poorly tuned car engine that emits black smoke.

Radicals begin to invade healthy cells, acting like iron rust. They cause atherosclerosis, cataracts, kidney diseases, rheumatic diseases, diabetes, liver tissue damage, can even damage DNA! Constant attacks from DNA-damaging free radicals can cause malignant tumors.

The antioxidant properties of chokeberry protect against diseases and disorders caused by free radicals, neutralizing aggressive particles.
