How to avoid getting sick if you're already sick. How to avoid a protracted illness - effective cold remedies

It is difficult to find a person who, after hypothermia, would not sneeze or complain of chills or headaches. These symptoms - the first signs of a cold - require contacting a doctor to make a diagnosis and begin treatment, take prescribed medications and procedures. How to provide first aid in case of illness, what techniques to use for recovery - everyone should know about this in order to help themselves and their loved ones.

What is a cold

All ailments that affect the respiratory system are classified as colds in everyday life. This is explained by the similarity of the first signs of many diseases. In this case, it is dangerous to self-medicate - the disease can be caused by viruses, bacteria, or simply hypothermia. Each case requires its own approach to treatment. If you have the flu or ARVI on your feet, you can get serious complications.

In addition to the first signs, diseases appear specific symptoms that are inherent in certain ailments. You can observe when the diagnosis is made:

  • laryngitis– the vocal cords are affected, the voice becomes hoarse;
  • pharyngitis– the nasopharynx suffers, sore throat, sore throat, difficulty swallowing appears;
  • rhinitis– strong secretion, nasal congestion.

The cause of the development of colds is a decrease in immunity, which is often observed from autumn to spring. During this time, infections often spread. A healthy body resists disease when viruses enter the mucous membranes. The appearance of cold symptoms is facilitated by:

  • hypothermia due to dampness, cold;
  • vitamin deficiency in winter;
  • stressful situations as a consequence of the transition from summer vacation to work, study;
  • contacts with sick people.

Cold symptoms

When a person just starts to get sick, he feels a general malaise. Weakness appears increased sweating. From the first days, symptoms such as:

  • aches in joints and muscles;
  • nausea;
  • sore throat;
  • redness of the eyes;
  • increased tearfulness;
  • enlarged lymph nodes;
  • chills;
  • gradual increase in temperature;
  • sneezing;
  • dizziness;
  • lethargy;
  • redness of the skin on the face, neck;
  • chest pain;
  • insomnia;
  • appearance of a rash.

Signs of a cold

When an infection occurs - in the case of a weakened immune system - inflammation of the mucous membranes occurs. A cold often begins with rhinorrhea - profuse clear discharge from the nose. The following features are gradually added:

  • redness of the throat;
  • hoarseness of voice;
  • pain when swallowing;
  • nasal congestion;
  • labored breathing;
  • cough - dry or with sputum - depends on the pathogen;
  • The body’s reaction to intoxication is headache, weakness, apathy, fatigue, loss of appetite.

First signs

If a person begins to get sick or feel unwell, bed rest is necessary - this will help avoid complications in the development of a serious illness. It is important not to self-medicate or use medications until a definitive diagnosis has been made. To help a sick person at the first signs of a cold, you must:

  • regularly measure temperature – its increase – sure sign good immunity, the body's fight against infection;
  • ensure a state of rest.

The room where the patient is located must be regularly ventilated. At the first symptoms of a cold you should:

  • give more warm liquid to maintain water balance, removal of toxins – tea with lemon, black currant, raspberry, mineral water, herbal decoctions;
  • exclude hypothermia - if there is no high temperature, do hot bath for legs;
  • remove fatty, carbohydrate-rich foods from your diet.

Inhalations and compresses

You can speed up the healing process if you use inhalation with a nebulizer. A doctor may recommend a composition to eliminate the symptoms of a cold after diagnosing a specific disease. Inhalations help cure nasal congestion, ease breathing, and soften cough. The following solutions will help stop a cold:

  • alkaline mineral water– moisturizes mucous membranes, eliminates sore throat;
  • furatsilin – counteracts bacteria in the nasopharynx area;
  • saline solution - helps remove mucus from the lungs, relieves cough.

Compresses help treat an incipient cold. It should be noted that performing such a procedure is unacceptable in the presence of fever. Compresses are given to adults and children:

  • for dry cough– on the back or chest, a mixture of chopped garlic with a beaten egg;
  • for a sore throat– at night, apply a cloth soaked in vodka, to which you can add a few drops of lavender oil and camphor;
  • in case of severe cough in a child– a compress in the form of cakes of boiled hot potatoes (4 tubers) with the addition of a spoonful of honey and soda.

What to take

When you start to get sick, it is better to deal with the onset of a cold under the supervision of a doctor. Only a correct diagnosis will help to avoid complications and quickly cope with the disease. At the first signs of illness, it is prescribed to take in tablet form:

  • Paracetamol– reduces high temperature;
  • Amoxicillin– counteracts bacterial infection;
  • Aflubin– helps increase immunity in drops for children, for adults – tablets;
  • Cycloferon– copes with viral infections.

For local treatment of cold symptoms, the following is prescribed:

  • Furacilin– solution for gargling;
  • Marimer– a spray that is used to rinse the nose;

  • Astemizole– tablets, relieve inflammation of the mucous membranes;
  • Doctor Mom– ointment for warming the bridge of the nose.

Pills

The most convenient thing to do if you have an illness is to take a pill. Medicines at the first signs of a cold differ in their action aimed at eliminating certain symptoms. Doctors prescribe in case of:

  • temperature - Aspirin-Upsa;
  • inflammation – Panadol;
  • decreased immunity – Immunal;
  • viral infection - Tamiflu;
  • severe cough - Fluimucil;
  • bacterial infection - Amoxiclav;
  • headache - Panadeine;
  • colds on the lips - Acyclovir;
  • runny nose, swelling - Promethazine;
  • dry cough - Codelac;
  • several symptoms - Fervex.

Antiviral drugs

A doctor, observing the first signs of illness, can diagnose a viral infection. In this case, drugs for treatment are selected depending on the type of pathogen. The most prescribed antiviral drugs:

  • Remantadine– acts against influenza, approved for children over one year of age, contraindicated for kidney disease, epilepsy;
  • Arbidol– effective against acute respiratory viral infections, influenza, herpes, rotavirus infection, used from three years.

Combination drugs

Comprehensive products help eliminate unpleasant symptoms ARVI, maintain performance, but often contain phenylephrine, a substance that increases arterial pressure, which gives a feeling of cheerfulness, but can cause side effects from the cardiovascular system. Therefore, in some cases, it is better to choose a drug without components of this kind, for example, AntiGrippin from Natur Product, which helps relieve the unpleasant symptoms of ARVI without causing an increase in blood pressure.

There are contraindications. It is necessary to consult a specialist.

Antibiotics

Only a doctor can notice the signs of a cold that indicate bacterial cause disease and prescribe antibiotics. It is important to follow the treatment regimen and dosage. To fight infection the following is prescribed:

  • Amoxicillin– a broad-spectrum drug, prescribed one tablet three times a day, for children the dose is selected individually;
  • Azithromycin– increases concentration active substance in the source of infection, reduces treatment time, has contraindications;
  • Sumamed– is distinguished by strong and quick action, you need to take 1 tablet per day, course – 3 days.

What should a child take?

The first signs of a cold in children require a mandatory visit to a doctor. To eliminate them, give tea with linden blossom, raspberries, milk with honey. Medicines are prescribed in the form of syrups, chewing lozenges, rectal suppositories. Pediatricians prescribe for the child:

  • Ibuprofen– suspension – relieves fever, inflammation, pain, allowed from 6 months;
  • Nazol baby drops - ease breathing during nasal congestion, prescribed short course;
  • Paracetamol– candles – recommended from three months, reduces temperature in 15 minutes;

  • Tizin for children - for a runny nose, use no more than three days;
  • Dolphina - a means for rinsing the nose during nasal congestion sea salt, relieves swelling;
  • Inhalipt – spray with natural ingredients, may cause allergies.

Folk remedies

A familiar procedure for colds is baths with mustard added to steam your feet. It is useful to drink three times a day a mixture of equal parts of lemon and onion juice - half a teaspoon diluted in 50 ml of water. Recommended hot drink:

  • put 2 grams of green tea in a glass of boiling water;
  • add a teaspoon of chopped ginger root to fresh;
  • add a slice of lemon;
  • leave for 15 minutes;
  • add a spoonful of honey;
  • drink up.

The body and immunity can be weakened throughout the year, so there is always a risk of contracting acute respiratory infections or acute respiratory viral infections. To avoid this and help yourself at the first symptoms, you need to know and follow certain recommendations and tips that will save you from the disease. Therefore, there is a reason to talk about what to do if you get a cold.

How do you know if you have a cold?

You need to pay attention to the following symptoms:

You feel a loss of strength and severe weakness.
An unusual warmth occurs in the body (this begins to increase the temperature).
Having a headache.
Do not confuse drowsiness and fatigue caused by overwork and not a cold.

What can you do if you have a cold?

As soon as you notice the first symptoms of an incipient cold, you need to take the maximum allowable dose of vitamin C. For example, a whole lemon is suitable for this. You can take pharmacy ascorbic acid (you need to eat 8 to 10 pieces at once).

Provide yourself good vacation and good sleep.

If you suspect ARVI, you should use a drug that has antiviral effect. For example, Amiksin, Viferon, Arbidol and others are suitable.

For many people, when they begin to feel unwell, it helps to take a good steam. This can only be done when there is no temperature. It is advisable to visit the bathhouse. But you can also steam your feet. Dry mustard should be added to hot water. At this time, drink tea with raspberries, honey or lemon. Taking a warm bath will also do. Add a decoction of chamomile or St. John's wort to the water, then go to bed.

You can strengthen your immune system by preparing the following remedy. Mix garlic, honey, lemon. Take the same proportions. You should take a teaspoon several times a day.

If the cold began immediately with a cough, then inhalation with essential oils (eucalyptus oil, fir oil, tea tree etc.). To avoid complications due to cough, make a warm cake. It is prepared from boiled potatoes in their jackets. When it is cooked, it is crushed directly with the peel and placed in 2 bags. One package is needed for the back, the other for the chest. In this case, you should lie down and cover yourself with a blanket in order to sweat properly. First, the cake is placed on a thin towel or cloth to prevent burns.

Eat a little, even if you have no appetite, you should have a little snack. Broth and vegetable soup are suitable for this.

Drink freshly squeezed juices.

Useful homemade tincture made with raspberries.

Reduce as much as possible physical activity. You cannot endure a cold “on your feet,” as complications may arise. You need to rest for at least a couple of days.

You can take drugs like Coldrex, that is, powders that are diluted in hot water. Just keep in mind that they suppress symptoms, but do not cure or improve immunity. An immunostimulating drug, for example, is Aflubin.

Coffee has an antiviral and strengthening effect. It must be freshly ground and only cooked.

The room must be ventilated.

Rosehip tea is also used as a drink. warm milk with butter and honey (especially if your throat is red). If a sore throat begins, gargle with a decoction of calendula, chamomile, and tansy. Suitable soda solution. After rinsing your throat, lubricate it with Lugol. Efizol, Faringosept, Septefril and various lozenges can be dissolved from tablets.

To improve the condition of the nose, you can rinse it with herbal decoctions (chamomile, sage) or saline solution. You can use a ready-made saline solution - Aquamaris, Marimer. For instillation, use beet, garlic or onion juice. This is more effective than conventional vasoconstrictor drops. It is also recommended to use a warming ointment or apply a bag of heated salt.

So, when you have a cold, you don’t always need to take medication. Often it’s enough to spend time at home, drink as often and as much as possible, and soar your feet. You should not inhale hot vapors so that the disease does not develop into more severe form. Do not combine treatment with pills? and herbs. All of the above measures are best observed in combination; this is the only way to achieve a quick recovery.

Spring is just around the corner, but the cold is not going away!

Here and there you only hear that someone is sick. ARVI is not a rare guest in our climate. And then the flu broke out! Every time it seems that we will not be caught. Some are vaccinated in advance, some are hardened. But…

And if such a malaise occurs, then a kind of helplessness immediately overcomes you. Especially when children are sick. Even if they are already big. Students. And what’s more, they are already working.

Here's what my friend recently wrote:

“For some reason, when children get sick, I panic and forget everything - how to treat, what to do, what medications are needed. Do you rarely get sick?

I start calling my friends, leafing through directories and surfing the Internet.

And this fear is even stronger than that of me, a young mother. Why? Awareness of the fragility of life?

By the way, my friend has the same thing - her child gets sick, she calls me - Lyuda, don’t you remember what to do? And I remember everything, give advice, recommend medications. In the same situation myself - I don’t know anything. Probably, someday we should sit down and calmly write down what to do and in what cases.”

So I decided to write a memo to myself, my adult children and my friends.

It's better if you don't need it.

Previously, I simply put prescriptions from doctors and my notes on what I gave and what I wanted to do in a basket with medicines. So to speak, I learned from my own experience. I recommend.

But now I rely less and less on doctors, I try to make do with what I have at hand. I have developed my own attitude towards colds. But generally accepted methods can be useful to many.

First things first

Prevention of colds

  • Eat more raw vegetables (carrots, beets, cabbage).
  • Always in moments possible illness have garlic and onions on the table.
  • Don't get too cold. If it happens, warm up. Warm bath, massage. Tea with raspberries. If you don’t have homemade raspberry jam, I recently discovered a very decent one in the store - “Premier”.
  • We eat cranberries, lemon and other citrus fruits. In general, a loading dose of vitamin C in its natural form.
  • Rinse the nasopharynx - 1 liter of boiled water + 6-8 drops of iodine and 1 teaspoon of salt. Suck it in with your nose and pour out the rest.
  • Grind the onion to a pulp, add garlic and breathe for 3-5 minutes 3 times a day.
  • Breathing (almost according to Strelnikova - anyone familiar): deep breath and a few breaths.

What to do if you have a cold

Yeah, it happened. Got sick.

You don’t need to take antipyretics or antibiotics right away. Any smart doctor will tell you this.

Speaking of doctors. We were visiting. The owner's adult son fell ill and caught a cold. In addition to the fact that it is difficult for him to give in to the advice of adults, we ourselves have long not believed in the benefits of the numerous new-fangled drugs with which all pharmacies are littered. The doctor who came on call, a young woman, amazed me with her intelligence and attentive attitude.

  1. Arbidol 0.2 g x 4 r per day. You can first buy for 3 days, we’ll see;
  2. Bioparox 4 injections x 4 times a day - this is in the mouth and nose (instead of drops);
  3. Vitamin C, you can use the simplest yellow balls for 15-18 rubles per jar of dragees;
  4. Drinking plenty of fluids;
  5. Paracetamol for high temperature, over 38.

If it sank down and a cough appeared, use inexpensive Thermopsis cough tablets, or mucaltin, breast collection(you can use filter bags or just brew herbs)

Here I will add my proven recipe, which I frantically remember every time broncholithin or bromhexine comes to mind:

“Cough tablets” (thermopsis) 2 pcs - crush in a tablespoon, add water and add 5 drops of ammonia-anise drops (available in every pharmacy).

Basic rules of behavior for colds:

You don't have to lie down all the time

A sick person should not be confined to bed, as long-term lying reduces the ventilation of the lungs and bronchi, and congestion may begin in them. There is also a diagnosis of “congestive pneumonia,” which develops in those who remain bedridden for a long time.

Therefore, during a cold it is better just limit yourself to home mode. Beware of drafts!

Drinking regime

Let's start with water. If you have a cold, increase your fluid intake. All harmful impurities are eliminated along with urine. The flu virus doesn't like alkaline environment, so drink more mineral water.

Raspberry tea is very useful for colds. Raspberries contain many antipyretic and diaphoretic substances. However, if you have heart disease, be careful with raspberries - they can cause arrhythmia.

Nutrition

For the digestion of protein and fatty foods Relatively much energy and time are wasted. And during a cold, the body’s forces should be aimed at fighting the infection. Therefore, you should try to eat less rich foods.

But we increase the consumption of foods that are easily digested and do not linger in the intestines. Such products include fruits, especially citrus fruits, fresh and stewed vegetables, boiled and fish stew, juices, fruit drinks.

By the way, efficiency chicken broth scientifically proven against colds and flu. Almost all broths have clearly defined anti-inflammatory properties, soothe a sore throat and ease breathing with nasal congestion. This happens because compounds are formed in the broth that stop the production of mucus in the nasopharynx.

Procedures

If you experience pain and sore throat, you should immediately begin some procedures.

It is necessary to gargle with salt and soda. You can make a solution from herbs: chamomile, thyme, sage. Repeat this procedure at least 4-5 times a day. Mint lozenges relieve a sore throat, but if you have a sore throat or pharyngitis, you need to be treated with antibacterial drugs.

Personally, I also use propolis tincture:

15 ml per 1/2 cup of warm water as a rinse 4-5 times a day for 3-4 days.

For chronic pharyngitis and tonsillitis, propolis tincture is applied to the tonsils 1-2 times a day for 8-15 days. In addition, for chronic tonsillitis, propolis tincture is used in the form of inhalations aqueous solution in a ratio of 1:20. The course of treatment is 1-2 inhalations per day for 7-10 days.

Inside alcohol tincture propolis can be taken for colds, flu, acute and chronic bronchitis, inflammation and pulmonary tuberculosis, hypertension, gastric and duodenal ulcers, acute and chronic colitis.

The dose can be 20-60 drops. Take it in half a glass of water (a milky liquid emulsion with small flakes is formed) or milk, the course of treatment is 5-30 days depending on the disease (for stomach ulcers - 3-4 weeks, can be repeated after a 15-day break).

The dose for children is calculated according to the principle: for a 1 year old child - 1/20 of the adult dose. A 10-year-old child, for example, is prescribed half the adult dose.

And also about the rather new drug Arbidol. You will find detailed information about Arbidol on the Internet or in the instructions for the drug itself. I will write only general information.

Arbidol is an etiotropic antiviral drug for the treatment and prevention of influenza and ARVI. Arbidol acts on early stages viral reproduction and inhibits the fusion of the viral lipid envelope with intracellular membranes, preventing the virus from entering the cell. Arbidol's mechanism of action differs from the anti-influenza drugs used: amantadine and rimantadine, which are blockers of ion channels formed by the M2 protein of the influenza virus, and neuraminidase (NA) inhibitors - zanamivir and oseltamivir 3,4.
Studies have shown that the high effectiveness of Arbidol is the result of the diversity of its biological activity and is due, in addition to specific action on viral reproduction, also the ability to induce interferon, immunostimulating effect, antioxidant activity 5.6.
Arbidol is active against all antigenic subtypes of influenza A and B viruses (including avian influenza). Arbidol is active against the main pathogens of acute respiratory viral infections. The use of Arbidol reduces the period of fever and the overall duration of the disease. When using Arbidol, the risk of complications from influenza and ARVI is significantly reduced. When using Arbidol during an epidemic, the risk of influenza and ARVI is reduced by 7.5 times. Arbidol combines high efficiency and good tolerability. Method of administration and dosage: Orally, before meals. Adults and children over 12 years old - 0.2 g each; children under 12 years old - 0.05-0.1 g (depending on age) 1-4 times a day or 2 times a week for 5-28 days, depending on the purpose (treatment/prevention)

And don’t forget to take vitamins - this will boost your immunity.

Vitamin compatibility

It has long been established that different vitamins and microelements interact with each other differently. For example, due to the reaction of vitamins C and B12, the absorption of B12 stops; Vitamin B1 can contribute to an allergic reaction, while vitamin B12 can make it stronger.
Examples of positive interactions:

  • calcium is very well absorbed with vitamin D;
  • vitamin B12 is well absorbed with calcium;
  • restore protective properties vitamin E is helped by vitamin C.

An influenza epidemic occurs in Russia every year, temporarily rendering a large number of people unable to work. But, despite the prevalence of the pathology, every time faced with a diagnosis, many people are perplexed: what to do if you get the flu?

Therefore, it will be useful for every person to have a reminder: what to do if you have the flu, and what you should absolutely not do if you have the flu.

Getting infected with influenza requires you to take certain actions

Many doctors like to joke that best treatment- this is prevention, and the validity of this idea is difficult to dispute. It is impossible to completely protect yourself from the risk of disease, but there are effective methods of prevention, just as there are common myths about how to protect yourself from the disease.

What should be done for prevention?

  1. One of the most effective ways Avoid the disease by vaccination. Vaccination today is available to every person who wants it; it reduces the risk of disease by 80-90%, which is very important if a person is forced to be among people during an epidemic, for example, due to duty.
    Vaccination is contraindicated for people with pathologies immune system, therefore, before getting vaccinated, you need to visit your doctor.
  2. Influenza is an infection that is transmitted by airborne droplets and by everyday means, that is, you can avoid infection by protecting yourself from contact with carriers of the infection. If there is such an opportunity, at the very acute period During the epidemic, it is necessary to leave the house less and not visit places where large numbers of people gather: shops, public transport, concerts. The problem of shopping is easily solved by ordering online or visiting the store at a time when there are few people there: for example, early in the morning. Public transport can be replaced by a taxi service, and entertainment events can be abandoned in favor of spending time at home.
  3. While at home or in the office, you can reduce the risk of infection using two prevention tools known since Soviet times: ventilation and quartz treatment. For quartzing, you can purchase a special portable device, and it is important to do ventilation at least once every three hours, leaving the room deserted.
  4. As an alternative to vaccination, you can take special drugs to prevent infection. There are special medications for this – immunomodulators, which must be taken according to the doctor’s recommendations or instructions for use.

What is undesirable during prophylaxis?

  1. During a flu epidemic, many people decide to take a desperate act - hardening the body. And they ignore the fact that you need to start doing this several months before the epidemic, gradually accustoming the body to adapt to low temperatures and other factors.
    If you immediately start hardening by dousing with cold water, you can greatly weaken the immune system, so at the first encounter with a carrier of the virus, infection will most likely occur.
  2. It is not recommended to ignore the rule of flu prevention, which consists of avoiding crowds, compensating for its use gauze bandages for the face and Oxolinic ointment" Both ointment and bandages together reduce the risk of infection by no more than 30%, so they should be used only when you need to visit a crowded place if absolutely necessary. It is very dangerous to completely trust these methods as methods of a 100% guarantee against the flu.
  3. Reception ascorbic acid for prevention - a myth debunked by scientists. You can take vitamin C, but it will have nothing to do with flu prevention.

Vitamin C has nothing to do with flu prevention

Nutrition

The issue of prevention becomes irrelevant when infection has already occurred. Then an interesting topic: what to do if a person gets the flu.

Nutrition is always an important issue, because food is the basis of life and the only source of energy. But during illness, appetite can behave unpredictably: a person may not want to eat anything for several days, or, on the contrary, experience a brutal appetite.

How to eat when you have the flu

Most patients during acute course diseases lose appetite, but you cannot completely give up food. The body must receive a sufficient amount of carbohydrates, which will give a person energy. Often the disease drags on because the person is simply exhausted from prolonged fasting. Therefore, you need to know what to eat and what to drink against the flu if you are already infected.

Meals should be divided, in small portions, taken every three hours. Food should be easily digestible, healthy, rich in vitamins:

  • warm chicken broth;
  • rosehip decoction and compotes;
  • honey and lemon cut into pieces, poured with boiling water;
  • a mixture of nuts, dried fruits and lemon, crushed in a blender;
  • fresh vegetable salads seasoned with sour cream;
  • oatmeal, wheat or millet porridge with water or buckwheat.
  • steamed cutlets or pieces of poultry fillet without spices and with a minimum amount of salt;
  • fruits in any quantity, if there are no allergies.

Honey and lemon help cure the flu faster

Poor diet for influenza

Along with the list healthy dishes, it is important to know what you should not drink or eat when you have the flu:

  • chocolate, coffee, desserts;
  • fatty, heavy, spicy, salty foods;
  • salads dressed with mayonnaise;
  • fast food, snacks.

Many patients who are forced to take care of themselves during illness on their own due to feeling unwell They take food once a day, trying to eat as much as possible so that the issue of cooking can be resolved for the rest of the day, which is absolutely not possible to do when you have the flu.

It is better to prepare several servings at once for the whole day, or replace meals with fruits and yoghurts.

Lifestyle

The speed of recovery depends not only on the effectiveness of the drugs, but also on the person’s behavior during the illness. Correct behavior not only alleviates the condition and reduces the time of illness, but also prevents complications.

How to behave during illness?

When asked what to do if you get the flu, there is only one correct answer: go to bed and try to sleep. During sleep, all the body’s energy will be spent on defeating the pathogen, so after deep sleep the person may immediately feel better.

Bed rest is what you need during illness

Bed rest is necessary to protect against complications. For example, often after the flu, a person’s kidneys begin to suffer, and the most favorable position for them is the horizontal position of the person’s torso. If a person has a history of chronic pyelonephritis(and it is diagnosed in 80% of people in a latent form), the relevance of compliance bed rest doubly clear.

While in bed, a person avoids hypothermia, that is, it does not interfere with the body’s immune system to work correctly and efficiently.

And finally, being at home in his own bed, a person ceases to be a link in the chain of the epidemic of the disease, that is, he does not contribute to infection more of people.

Poor behavior when sick

It is known that most of complications that are dangerous to health and life arise due to the fact that a person tries to survive the flu “on his feet.” Most often, the reason for this is the financial aspect, reluctance to go to the clinic to receive sick leave, or workaholism.

It is important to remember what not to do when you have the flu: active image life, loading all systems of the body, and risk infecting others, among whom may be pregnant women, elderly people with weak immunity, people with immunodeficiency or autoimmune pathologies.

Therefore, for yourself and those around you, it is more correct to honestly admit “I have the flu,” take a sick leave and follow the doctor’s orders.

Drug treatment

Since the development of pharmacology, the average duration the course of the disease, and the number of complications, and even the mortality factor due to the disease.

But medications not only have enormous benefits, they can also bring great harm if used incorrectly.

It is advisable to coordinate the intake of medications with a doctor

How to treat the flu?

The only way to cure the flu medications The right way is to follow a simple algorithm:

  • visit a therapist and get prescriptions from him for laboratory tests;
  • based on test results, obtain prescriptions for medications;
  • take all medications as prescribed;
  • get tested again to make sure the disease is cured.

Sometimes the doctor may adjust prescriptions if some medications do not have the desired effect.

How can you not be treated for the flu?

The main thing that is forbidden to do when you have the flu is to self-prescribe medications. In most cases, a person buys any antibiotic available to him and starts taking it, not caring that the flu is viral disease m, and antibiotics treat bacterial infections.

The second common mistake is taking antiviral drugs before visiting a doctor. The pills taken can distort the clinical picture of the disease and laboratory test data, which will complicate the diagnosis process for the doctor. Before visiting a doctor, you can only take tablets for symptomatic treatment, for example, to relieve fever, sore throat, nasal congestion.

And finally, the third popular mistake is the use of drugs that are not intended for the treatment of influenza, but are recommended by someone as a good and effective remedy. For example, Sofosbuvir tablets cannot be taken if you are sick with the flu, since the active components of this drug are intended to treat hepatitis. Taking medications is correct only when clinical picture corresponds pharmacological action medicines.

Traditional medicine for influenza

Traditional medicine can be both useful and effective, but it can only be safe if it is used correctly. Replace herbal infusions or inhalation of pharmacological drugs over boiled potatoes is prohibited. But as an additional tool for promoting health, they are quite suitable.

The bath is useful for treating flu in cases where there is no high fever

How to use traditional medicine?

Traditional medicine numbers hundreds of thousands different recipes, but only safe and accessible ones can be used.

  1. If there is no temperature, going to the bathhouse– what you need to do when you have the flu is mandatory. It is not necessary to take action active actions and steam, just “sweat” for 10 – 15 minutes on the top shelf, inhaling the aroma of a broom or solution essential oils. After bath procedures you need to go to bed, avoiding hypothermia.
  2. Herbal infusionsuseful remedies at infectious diseases. But it is important to remember that all herbs have a narcotic component, so you can take infusions only according to the doctor’s recommendations or the information on the package.
  3. What you should do without fear when you have the flu is to use folk remedies for symptomatic treatment. For example, for a sore throat caused not by a bacterial infection, but by the flu, it is useful to gargle with saline solutions, herbal decoctions, or lemon juice diluted in water. When coughing, it is useful to drink hot milk with a piece at night. butter, in case of intoxication without fever, it is effective to use hot foot baths before bedtime.
    It is important that all these procedures help reduce the severity of symptoms and do not contradict the direct treatment of the disease itself prescribed by the attending physician.

How not to use traditional medicine?

By means traditional medicine cannot replace the main one pharmacological treatment, If we're talking about about the flu.

With this approach, you may encounter a protracted course of the disease, which negatively affects the immune system and all organs, or complications in the heart, kidneys, and respiratory organs.

What you need to know about the flu

Thus, a set of rules for what to do if you have the flu - searching for the golden mean between medical rules and a psychologically and physically comfortable therapy regimen.

Allergy is a pathological overreaction of the body to foreign substances. Is there a human allergy?

An allergy to a person is a rejection of another person as a person or their effect on you. Manifestations of allergies to the human immune system can be expressed by pain in the eyes, swelling, runny nose, hives, sneezing and coughing.

Allergies to a person are often caused by the inability to breathe the same air. It seems that this person is secreting a substance that is not compatible with your Ego. It happens that your neighbor can become the most powerful allergen, provided that he begins to mind his own business, and therefore causes irritation in the lining of the nose and leads to sneezing.

Human allergies, once considered outlandish, are now becoming more popular and aggressive. You can develop an allergy to a person, including your neighbor, right from school, as well as at retirement age. The disease affects residents of highly civilized, economically developed countries.

An allergy to another person is retribution for our selfishness. The growth of selfishness includes a mechanism for the development of allergic reactions to one's neighbor, and this disease is incurable. The crowds are sneezing...

Allergy to humans - causes

Why does this disease occur? The answer is genetics. There is a predisposition to allergies to people. A child is 100% likely to sneeze on others if his parents did the same. Allergies are often caused by decreased immunity. But it happens that a person does not perceive another and believes that his illnesses are caused by this person.

Causes of psychological allergies:

A person nearby has a different mentality and temperament; is the opposite of your character, and the human body tends to deny someone who is very different from it;

Similarity with a person in shortcomings leads to a strong release of hormones that cause allergic reactions;

The specific smell of a person to which there is an acute reaction.

Medical theory of human allergies

Allergy to people is autoimmune disease, expressed in an allergy to saliva, epithelium (skin), human hair, accompanied by itchy skin, a rash on the head and face. Symptoms gradually increase, leading the patient to severe exacerbation (scratching). Antiallergic drugs are ineffective for this disease.

Psychological theory of the development of human allergies

There is a connection between hatred and the development of egoism, and there is no person free from these qualities. Nowadays, all structures of human society are susceptible to such allergies: children sneeze on parents, students on teachers, young people on old people, old people on youth, leaders on people.

Human allergies were not so obvious 100 years ago. This is all due to pollution of the human environment. Every year the ego of people grows at an accelerated pace, while saturating society with its poison and creating an increasingly dirty living environment with the new generation. Inhaling air from particles of people's egos, and if interests do not coincide, you will have an allergic reaction. If interests coincide, then the air will seem pleasant and clean. It follows that the cause of sneezing is a mismatch of interests and their acute opposition. People become more aggressive, not wanting to adapt to the habits and characters of others, and allergic manifestations worsening: cough, runny nose, itchy skin. The development of egoism led to dire consequences, and the world strives to destroy humanity with its own hands. Allergies equate to hatred. People's selfishness prevents the emergence of love, as the only cure for human allergies.

Allergy in the sense of philosophy is a kind of selfishness, as well as cynicism, expressed in inflated demands on others. You make yourself an indulgence: “I am good, normal, and let the other person change.” And if you look at the opponent’s position, then the point of view is definitely the same. And where is the truth?

Human allergies - treatment

There are no specific tests to diagnose and treat allergies in humans. You can, of course, conduct skin tests and donate blood for IgE and after the examination do ASIT (allergen- specific immunotherapy), which is carried out precisely by those allergens that caused the maximum reaction. This is the only treatment method that significantly reduces the disease and prevents the development of new allergic reactions. Examination and treatment are strictly prescribed by an allergist.

For treatment to be successful, it is necessary to remove the allergen from contact. Coexistence and tolerance of the allergen is not acceptable. And in order to be more tolerant of a person who is an allergen, you need to understand him and stop being prejudiced. The disease is often caused by decreased immunity. But it happens that a person does not perceive another and believes that his illnesses are caused by this person. Allergists consider the disease to be an exception to the rule, so it is necessary to seek help from a psychologist, since the reasons are not related to physiology, but lie in psychological characteristics the identity of the sick person.

Preventing human allergies

Remember that an allergic reaction to a person is a rare phenomenon and is caused in most cases by psychological characteristics.

Can a person be allergic? Maybe! Since an allergy is a negative reaction of the body to an irritant, a person is no exception in this regard. An allergy to another person is a rejection of another person as a person. This type Allergies can express the following immune symptoms:

cough; itching; sneezing; rash; rhinitis; tears; swelling.

Human allergies are often caused by eye pain, swelling, runny nose, hives, sneezing and coughing.

An allergic reaction to people is a kind of inability to be close and breathe the same air to two people. There is a feeling that a person is releasing an irritating component to which the opponent’s ego is allergic. Symptoms of a disease that has the root of the problem in the mental state are manifested by sneezing when an “allergen” is nearby. Nowadays, human allergies are no longer something supernatural; on the contrary, they are increasingly being diagnosed and are rapidly progressing. An allergic reaction to an adult can develop at absolutely any age; you can be diagnosed at school, or even in old age. And it doesn’t matter whether it’s a stranger or close relative. The disease today affects people living in civilized, highly developed countries.

Causes of allergic reactions to people

Why does the disease develop? The main reason is hidden in genetics. Scientists agree that there is a predisposition to such an unusual type of allergic reaction. The baby will definitely sneeze on a loved one if his parents or one of his other relatives had allergy symptoms. An allergic reaction develops due to a malfunction in the human immune system. But in some cases, allergy symptoms have psychological causes. Sometimes a person considers another person to be the source of all his problems, and therefore his illness develops.

The causes of the disease are as follows:

A discrepancy in mentality and temperament, a complete opposite in character, as a result of which the human body reacts negatively to the opponent. Allergies also appear due to similarities with another person, which causes a hormonal explosion and a negative reaction. The smell emanating from another person, which is an irritant and causes allergies.

Some theories of development: medical, psychological

A negative reaction of the body to a person is autoimmune disease, which can be expressed by an allergic reaction to saliva, epithelium, hair. This type of allergy is accompanied by symptoms such as rashes on skin and a constant desire to scratch. The symptoms are increasing all the time, and antiallergic medications have absolutely no effect. Scientists associate allergies to people with hatred and selfishness of an individual.

Nowadays, an allergic reaction to people can occur among any social structure.

Today, children sneeze at their mothers and fathers, students at their teachers, the young at the elderly, the old at the young, government officials at the people of the people. Just not so long ago we had never heard of this type of allergy, but today it is not considered something surprising. The main reason that this is happening and spreading so actively is the “dirty” human environment. Selfishness among people is constantly growing, and from year to year the threat increases significantly. Ego provokes hatred and destruction among all social classes.

An increasingly “dirty” living environment is being created for the new generation. By “breathing in” the negativity and negative emotions of strangers, people can earn a negative reaction. A person becomes aggressive, not wanting to put up with what is familiar to another, thereby increasing the symptoms of the disease, developing cough, sneeze, runny nose and rashes on the skin. The rapid development of the Ego leads to the complete collapse of humanity and the world. You could even say that an allergic reaction is like hatred. Human selfishness does not allow the development of such bright feelings as love, kindness, harmony. But an allergy to people can be cured precisely with the help of kindness and love, emanating from within a person and spreading not selectively, but to everything around.

From a philosophical point of view, an allergic reaction is a kind of symbiosis of selfishness and cynicism, which are expressed in too high demands on people. And on the contrary, the allergic person himself considers himself better than others, makes concessions to himself, talking about why on earth he, and not his opponent, should change. And the opponent also considers himself right - the truth cannot be found.

How to cure human allergies

There are no special tests to identify this type of allergy. The only method is to undergo skin tests in a laboratory. Such tests will allow you to isolate an irritating substance that negatively affects the body, causing extremely unpleasant symptoms. After testing, it is recommended to undergo allergen-specific immunotherapy in order to identify the irritant as accurately as possible. This method will reduce relapses of the disease and discomfort. It is strictly forbidden to self-medicate; you must visit an allergist and sometimes a psychologist so that they can correct effective treatment allergies to humans. In order for therapy to give maximum positive effect, it is necessary to completely eliminate contact with a person to whom the body reacts negatively.

It is strictly forbidden to coexist and tolerate the irritant. However, you still need to work on yourself - try to understand the allergen, listen to it, become more tolerant of it. The disease sometimes develops due to reduced immunity, but people mistakenly believe that the cause of the symptoms was another person.

Allergists believe this type allergies are an exception and most often give the patient a referral to visit a psychologist’s office, since the main reason lies in the patient’s head and is not physical. For preventive purposes, people with such unusual allergies are advised to stay away from the allergenic person. Contact with such people should be completely avoided. You need to rest more, walk in the fresh air, go on picnics and in gardens. You need to understand that an allergic reaction to people is usually due to psychological reasons.

How to distinguish an allergic runny nose from a cold

It would seem, what’s special if a person has a runny nose? Indeed, a runny nose does not pose any danger if it lasts no more than a week and the snot is clear. However, if the disease drags on and there is no improvement, many people ask themselves the question - is it allergic in nature? This is especially true for children, since their immune system is not fully formed and parents cannot be sure whether the baby is allergic to something.

It is very easy to confuse an allergic runny nose with a cold. Many symptoms of ARVI can also occur with allergies - sneezing, coughing, watery eyes. What to do in such a situation? How to distinguish one from the other? After all, if the runny nose is of an allergic nature, the principles of treatment change radically.

What is the difference between a cold and an allergic runny nose?

Everyone knows how a viral disease develops, but not everyone is familiar with an allergic reaction. If you have a runny nose, pay attention to the accompanying symptoms.

  1. Origin. Often a person knows the cause of a viral infection. That is, a runny nose is probably a cold if it appears after hypothermia or after contact with a sick person. Allergic rhinitis most often appears suddenly and develops quickly.
  2. Pathogen. If you have an allergic runny nose, you can try to track the allergen to which your body reacts. Analyze when a runny nose becomes active. If mucus production increases indoors, pay attention to dust or possible allergens in the home. Sometimes a runny nose occurs on animal fur, after inhaling pollen from certain plants. If your runny nose only becomes active at night, you may have a reaction to the pillow filling.

This detailed symptoms, by which you can distinguish a cold from an allergic runny nose. However, sometimes the allergic nature of rhinitis often turns into bacterial, and vice versa. That is why an allergist is the best person to help you cope with this task. He will ask you in detail about your lifestyle, the presence of pets in the house, and also about allergies in relatives. Patients are often prescribed allergy tests, which can detect not only the fact of an allergy, but also help identify the allergen.

How to treat colds and allergic rhinitis

It is not difficult to treat a cold, the main thing is not to start the process. You need to drink plenty of fluids - not a mug raspberry tea, and 2-3 liters of warm liquid. This will allow you to flush the virus out of your body as quickly as possible. Besides, you need to drink antiviral drugs, increase immune activity. Humidify the air in the room, ventilate the room so that the nasal mucosa does not dry out. Inhalation, nasal rinsing, and warming are very effective in treating colds. You can put garlic, onion, aloe and black radish juice into your nose. If your nose is stuffy, use vasoconstrictors, but remember, they cannot be used for more than five days - they are addictive. A few days similar treatment– and the patient will certainly improve.

Dealing with allergic rhinitis is more difficult. Especially if it is not possible to identify the allergen. You need to pay utmost attention to bedding and textiles in the house - curtains, sofa upholstery, bedspreads, carpets. If possible, you should discard them, and those that remain should be vacuumed as often as possible. Wet cleaning should be done daily. Allergies can also be to certain foods, animal dander, medications, or pollen. The main treatment for allergic rhinitis is identification of the allergen and possible prevention contact with him.

For those with allergies, you can install fine filters in your home, stop smoking, and more carefully monitor hygiene in your home. To relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, you should always have antihistamines with you.

If a person suffers from allergies, he can usually distinguish an allergic runny nose from a cold, and is well oriented by his feelings. But parents of small children have a hard time - they are still searching correct diagnosis. However experienced doctor will help distinguish one from the other and prescribe adequate treatment.

Well, stop sneezing! How to make life easier with seasonal allergies?

There is still snow in some places, and my nose is stuffy and my eyes are running. Can spring allergies start ahead of schedule?

Answered by Professor Mikhail Kostinov, head of the laboratory of vaccine prevention and immunotherapy of allergic diseases, Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums named after. Mechnikov:

Allergy season has begun. The first allergenic plants (hazel) bloomed in the forests. And patients with rhinitis and lacrimation began to turn to doctors.

Allergy or ARVI?

Lydia Yudina, AiF: Mikhail Petrovich, how do you know if you have a cold or an allergy?

Many people walk around with a “cold” all spring and even end up in the hospital with suspected pneumonia. Unfortunately, not all doctors know characteristic feature allergies - swelling of the nasopharynx (occurs due to irritation caused by pollen).

- At what age does allergies most often begin?

Allergies can occur at any age - even in retirement. But most often it occurs in children under one year of age (6-7 months). The “peak” occurs at 2.5-5 years. The harbinger of an allergy is often an inflammatory skin lesion ( atopic dermatitis), which shows the body's high allergic readiness. Later, dermatitis, as a rule, disappears, and respiratory allergies take its place. In a favorable situation (and with proper treatment), the allergy goes away with age (or does not proceed so violently), in an unfavorable situation, hay fever is replaced by bronchial asthma.

- What types of allergies are considered the most severe?

There is no such thing as a mild allergy. But the most severe and widespread type is hay fever (pollen allergy). Firstly, it is impossible to exclude contact with the allergen (exacerbations are caused by tiny particles of pollen, invisible to the eye). Secondly, at the beginning of spring, many people also suffer from colds, and the combination of a cold and allergies is a hellish mixture that is as difficult for patients to tolerate as heart disease.

Treat or endure?

- Allergy treatment is lengthy, expensive and not always effective. Isn't it easier to endure it?

Not every allergy can be tolerated. Its manifestations (headache, incessant coughing, sneezing, rhinitis) unsettle the patient for a long time. For some patients, the allergy season begins in early spring and ends in late autumn (after leaf fall). And if the allergy, in addition to hay fever, manifests itself as urticaria or bronchial asthma, treatment cannot be avoided.

In addition, hay fever is one of the few types of allergies that can be cured. Specific immunotherapy (treatment in small doses allergens), which is often called an allergy shot, can save a person from suffering forever. The low prevalence of allergies in rural regions is explained precisely by the fact that children there are exposed to allergens from the first days of life.

Will there ever be a cure for allergies?

Allergy is not a disease, but a form of existence of an organism that reacts in an unusual way to ordinary things. Therefore, for many people, the only way to overcome allergies is to master the technique of living safely with their illness.

Causes of frequent sneezing in children and adults

It is generally accepted that frequent sneezing and a runny nose is caused by a cold infection. But this is not always the case. Therefore, without understanding the reasons, a person may proceed to the wrong treatment. And this in turn best case scenario will not give any result. Let's look at the factors that cause this symptom.

The main reasons for frequent sneezing

Frequent sneezing causes:

  • artificial irritation caused by chemical or mechanical intervention;
  • viral or cold infection;
  • allergic reaction of the body (animal fur, plant pollen, tobacco smoke, perfumes, etc.);
  • temperature difference (a person goes from a warm room to a cold one).

It often happens that sneezing and runny nose are not caused by any complications. It is enough to change the environment or get rid of the irritant. If symptoms occur long time then treatment and a visit to the doctor cannot be postponed. For people who experience back pain, sneezing may cause some discomfort. Sometimes the manifestation becomes too painful, and patients try to “mute” this urge.

Perhaps a cold?

Sneezing and runny nose can be symptoms of a cold. Sneezing during a cold is the body's reaction to irritation of the upper mucous membrane of the nose. Colds affect the upper Airways, and is accompanied by:

  • cough;
  • elevated temperature;
  • state of lethargy;
  • sore throat.

A cold appears due to hypothermia or contact with a sick person. In this case, you need to take antipyretic and anti-inflammatory drugs, and maintain bed rest.

Important! Sneezing and runny nose without fever are not always harmless. If they are seasonal, such as in spring or summer when plants bloom, then it is an allergic reaction.

How to correctly interpret the symptoms?

How can you understand that the patient has an allergy and not a common ARVI? With a common cold there should be a fever. With allergies, paroxysmal sneezing occurs (20-30 times per minute). With a common cold, sneezing may occur, but not as often. Sneezing with allergies is accompanied by a runny nose. But the runny nose is not ordinary, it is watery. When you have a cold, the nasal discharge has a thick consistency and a greenish tint, while when you have an allergy, the nasal discharge is watery and clear in color. Accordingly, with an allergy, the following occurs:

  • itching of eyes and skin;
  • redness;
  • swelling;
  • sneezing and runny nose.

Therefore, allergies can be distinguished from colds with the naked eye.

The question arises: how to stop sneezing?

Important! First of all, you need to understand that sneezing is completely normal. defensive reaction the body to remove foreign particles from the respiratory tract.

Even “advanced” allergies can be cured at home. Just remember to drink once a day.

Under no circumstances should you sneeze into yourself, because when you sneeze, all harmful microorganisms leave the body. When you sneeze into yourself, they are delayed, which can lead to inflammatory processes in the nasopharynx.

If sneezing is caused by colds, then it is better to rinse nasal cavity saline solution. In this way, you will not only get rid of mucus, but you will also be able to protect yourself from more serious consequences. After rinsing you will feel relief nasal breathing and get rid of dry nose. To prepare saline solution I need to take a glass boiled water, add a teaspoon of salt and a couple of drops of iodine. For instillation, you can use vasoconstrictors and drugs with antiviral effects.

For allergies, you can use antihistamines and nasal sprays with hormones. Allergy sufferers can undergo specific immunotherapy. It consists of injecting the patient with an increasing dose of the allergen for which he has increased sensitivity. This treatment reduces sensitivity to this allergen. If possible, contact with the allergen should be avoided.

In children, sneezing occurs mainly for the same reasons as in adults. Parents should pay attention to the symptoms that children exhibit. The result of an allergic disease in children can be bronchial asthma. If several times during feeding the child greedily grabs and then spits out the pacifier, and sniffles between feedings, these are signs that the child has developed allergic rhinitis. The child's consumption of an allergen (protein cow's milk) causes swelling of the mucous membrane, which blocks the nasal passages. In a situation where a child pets a cat or helps with cleaning, he begins to have bouts of runny nose and sneezing. During the warm season, the child “gets a cold” (pollen allergy). These are signs that your child is suffering from allergic rhinitis.

Allergic rhinitis as a common cause of frequent sneezing

Allergic rhinitis is an acute allergic disease of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses caused by exposure to allergens. In very young children and infants, the disease can even lead to hospitalization.

Allergic rhinitis can either get worse or subside. In children it is accompanied heavy discharge from the nose, which cannot be stopped even by instillation. All this is intensified by itching, swelling, redness of the eyes, and sneezing.

Allergic rhinitis with scratching and paroxysmal sneezing is called a “funny disease.” However, the consequences can be very serious. Difficulty breathing leads to the child not getting enough sleep, and the perception of information and attention deteriorate. Confirmation that a child is exhibiting allergy symptoms is attempts to treat a cold with home methods (honey, mustard plasters, rubbing), which lead to an even greater deterioration of the condition.

Morning sneezing - what is the reason?

If your baby has been constantly sneezing in the morning for three weeks or more, the temperature is normal. How to fight? If there is constant sneezing, only in the morning and is absent during the day, then the problem is either in the child or the place where he sleeps. As soon as the child's position or the place where the child sleeps changes, the sneezing disappears. This suggests that the child has a fairly common disease, posterior rhinitis, that is, inflammation posterior sections nose In this situation it is allergic because the virus cannot be present in the body for three weeks. With this pain in back wall The nose produces mucus that flows down the wall of the pharynx. During sleep, mucus accumulates in the oropharynx and the child experiences sneezing. But sometimes the cause of mucus formation is the place where the child sleeps. It is necessary to analyze what factor appeared in the family when the child began to sneeze. If someone had snot or ARVI, then everything is clear. A new crib or toy, or a flowering plant may appear in the bedroom. It could be the powder you used to wash your clothes. bed sheets or baby's clothes. Maybe you got a pet. Summarizing everything, you need to protect the child from possible allergens and humidify the air in the room. The most important thing is to invite a doctor to listen to the child’s lungs.

What's the benefit?

While sneezing is a symptom various diseases, it may be useful. Providing a preventive effect, ridding the body of pathogenic bacteria and foreign particles. Especially in children, sometimes it is necessary to evoke this urge, because they simply cannot blow their nose. There are many ways to induce sneezing. They can simply be from mechanical stress:

  • cotton swab;
  • feather;
  • massaging your forehead above your nose.

Herbal sneeze stimulants have not only a preventive effect. They produce an anti-inflammatory effect.

Frequent sneezing can be a symptom of allergies and the common cold. In most cases this symptom can be easily eliminated by correcting everyday life and does not require contacting a specialist, but there are also cases in which allergic rhinitis and frequent sneezing are a symptom of complications of serious pathologies.

Symptoms and treatment of sneezing due to allergies

Runny nose and sneezing due to allergies are some of the most characteristic symptoms along with itching, watery and red eyes, and skin reactions. If such signs appear in the warm season, they are most likely caused seasonal allergies. Year-round allergies with periods of exacerbation or sudden acute attack may cause various food products(rare), animal hair, mold, dust, pollen indoor plants, metals and various chemical compounds in cleaning products and perfumes, as well as additional provoking factors such as smoke, strong odors, temperature changes.

Predisposition to allergic rhinitis is sometimes inherited.

The mechanism of sneezing due to allergies is due to a hypersensitive reaction of the immune system when the body is repeatedly exposed to allergens.

Moreover, the first symptoms of rhinitis occur mainly within a few seconds or minutes (immediate type reaction) after contact with the irritant.

Allergic rhinitis and sneezing are distinguished from the same symptoms that occur with colds or infectious diseases by the absence of fever.

Put accurate diagnosis and assign the optimal complex treatment An ENT doctor, an allergist and an immunologist will help.

Causes

Sneezing, runny nose, red eyes due to allergies can be caused by the following allergens:

Symptoms

Symptoms of sneezing and rhinitis of an allergic nature:

  • paroxysmal sneezing;
  • rhinorrhea;
  • if the allergy is accompanied by a secondary infection, clear nasal discharge takes on a purulent tint;
  • itching in the nose, in the palate, irritation in the nasopharynx;
  • inflammation in the nose, red wings of the nose from constant rubbing;
  • swelling of the nose, face;
  • red, watery eyes (allergic conjunctivitis);
  • Nasal congestion may bother you at night, but difficulty breathing is not very common allergic rhinitis with sneezing and usually appears during exacerbations and complications;
  • Sometimes dark circles under the eyes, loss of sense of taste.

Sneezing and runny nose of an allergic nature, as a rule, make themselves felt already in childhood. Sometimes such symptoms appear for the first time during pregnancy, so if a pregnant woman goes to the doctor with the complaint: “I’m sneezing and snot is flowing,” then an allergy in this case is quite likely.

If the above symptoms do not prevent normal life person, it is believed that he has light form allergies, if the symptoms are more pronounced and interfere with sleep at night and work during the day, then the patient is in the middle stage.

A severe degree is characterized by severe nasal congestion, difficulty breathing, nasal discharge becomes viscous, polyps appear in the nose, and itching disappears.

Treatment

Treatment of a runny nose and sneezing due to allergies is based on excluding any contact with allergens and taking antihistamines, glucocorticoids, and auxiliary drugs(for example, vasoconstrictors, anti-inflammatory, decongestants), homeopathic remedies(“Rhinital”, “Rinosennay”).

Besides drug therapy Prescribe various physiotherapeutic procedures.

Effective and absolutely harmless even for children and pregnant women, rinsing the nasal passages with salted water. Also effective steam inhalations with saline solution.

Taking vitamins to support your immune system won't hurt either.

During the period of remission, allergen-specific therapy is indicated to help reduce sensitivity to specific irritants.

To strengthen the body, an allergy sufferer needs to gradually harden and do breathing exercises.

Antihistamines are available in pharmacies without a prescription in the form of tablets, nasal drops, sprays and ointments. But not all of them are safe for health (especially for 1st and 2nd generation drugs, which can affect the functioning of the central nervous system and heart), so prescribe Diphenhydramine, Claritin, Diazolin, Zodak, or “Suprastin” cannot be taken on its own.

3rd and 4th generation drugs have almost no side effects, but they are quite expensive. List of the best antihistamines includes the following medications: Zyrtec, Erius, Cetrin, Telfast, Levocetirizine, Desloratadine, Cetirizine, Ebastine, Fexofenadine, Xyzal.

Dosages vary depending on age, but you usually need to take the medicine once a day. The course of treatment is at least 2 weeks.

From nasal sprays for mild form allergies and for prevention, sodium cromoglycate derivatives are effective: Cromohexal, Cromosol. But these drugs do not act immediately, but at least 5 days after the start of use. The course of treatment for a runny nose ranges from 2 months to year-round use for chronic allergies.

For moderate and severe allergies, the doctor may prescribe nasal drops and sprays with corticosteroids: Aldecin, Nasonex, Nazarel, Benorin, Nasobek and others. Restrictions on the use of hormonal drugs are the child's age of the allergy sufferer and gestation. The dosage and duration of taking such medications should be determined individually by a doctor.

If you have allergies, you should not overuse vasoconstrictor drops like Naphthyzin or Vibrocil, and they are generally contraindicated for women during pregnancy.
